This is the first I'm hearing of Alien Gear, but I like the look, I like hybrid holsters, I think I will like this material (leather is fine but gets hot against the skin in the summer in Virginia), and most of all I like the price. It's a plus that you can buy different shells too! Make sure you get a review in sometime, if you haven't already, I'll search later tonight!
Hey great video! I just have one concern. As a respiratory therapist I'm just worried about the multiple (if you or anyone is doing so) uses of the handkerchief. There is what is known as droplet nuclei it's the dried substance after a sneeze or cough when you're sick. It can be reintroduced into us when reusing the handkerchief. It's ok to use it just replace it daily. Thanks again for the amazing video!
I'm a big fan of the Cryo, and have been eyeing the G-10 version for a while. I love the width, and the aesthetics of it. Everytime I try to EDC another knife, I always end up falling back to the Cryo.
I've been carryong the cryo 2 for almost a year now, though i switch it up with a tenacious or my new benchmade 300, and i love it. only flaw mine has is that its blade alignment isn't perfectly centered
Pohl Force Bravo One Tactical limited to 500 pieces.Has been working out great so far, the 440C holds a nice edge and the recurve makes for outstanding cutting power. It carrys very niceley and most of the time unnoticed. Definitly a knife you get lots of compliments for... Oh and by the way it's German Law compliant!
The kershaw chill is a great knife to EDC! I polished the washers on it and its now smooth as butter! Even if you dont polish the washers its still a great knife, not as smooth but still great!
I just got the Cyro in the blackout configuration with a tango point and i love it. It sits deep in the pocket and is my go to "smaller" knife like if i am going into town. all in all a good knife
Hey Jeff, great video as always. Just wanted to give you a tip on that jack links jerky. If you ever want to tweak the flavor a bit try adding a bit of brown sugar to it and shaking it up really well. It kind of balances out the jerky taste in case you find it to be a bit too strong.
Ace Camper Admittedly, it is a small, easy to carry Sig P238. So my experience may not transfer directly to your carry situation. But, I've tried several different brands, in many different carry positions. I like this one the best. I have the original Alien Gear with the leather backing rather than the neoprene. I'm most likely going to order the neoprene for my own comparison, to find my preference. If you haven't checked out their site, definitely do it. Awesome warranty. If you decide to carry a different gun, you get free Kydex shell exchanges for life, just pay the shipping. And it's the cheapest hybrid holster I've seen yet. I can't think of a reason not to order one honestly. If you don't like it with your G19, you can send that shell in and get a different one. Or if you don't like it at all, you can return it for a refund within 30 days, no questions asked. The warranty is forever and they'll replace any part for any reason, including clips. Wow, got off on a tangent there lol. You only asked what gun and I turned it in to an advertisement.
Ace Camper G19 is a great carry gun. Pretty much functions as a full-size with 15rd mags and can still use the 17 or 33rd mags if you so choose, but small and light enough to carry. Also consider an M&P shield if you want something more like a LC9. It's light enough to carry with gym shorts.
Hey, Jeff. I guess I live a sheltered life but I've never heard of non-tobacco dips. As an avid coffee and tea drinker, I became excited about the Mint Chew and the Cowboy Coffee and immediately ordered both from Amazon. I will let you know on Facebook when I get them and try them. Thanks, buddy!
awesome please comment back here if you have time so the viewers know what you think of them, I love both only issue at all was they are hard at 1st until your split softens them up
Ed Nolan i was actually thinking the same thing because it'd be easier for class. it's hard to brew a cup of coffee in the morning if you're worried about missing your lecture. that's why i keep menthol coughdrops close.
killermanSAd They gave that extra kick when I was unable to have a cuppa. Just a little worried that they would stain my teeth since they are in direct contact with them whilst between the cheek and gum.
Just a tip but if you're still on your diet id avoid the jerky, the high salt causes crazy water retention and leads to high b/p. Nice edc btw i recently added a cold steel code 4 and the leatherman raptor shears to my edc, the shears due to me being an ER RN.
***** they are awesome man, they cut through cast and whatever, the oxygen wrench is cool too, they beat anything out there as far as quality goes, what makes them great is that they are foldable, i stuff my pockets with supplies and they clip to my pocket nice and small. So yes they are worth it, so many people pay way more for over priced letter/box openers this is a tool you will actually use.
The assited spring bar broke on the Kershaw Cryo down on me after 2 months of use. I removed it and use the knife as a regular manual. Weights more then it should for its size and not really recommended. Just a data point.
Hey Jeff, I was recently checking out some Big Skinny Wallets and saw that they make a zipper wallet similar to the one you EDC now. Looks more secure than the original one and seems like a pretty cool piece of gear!
I totally agree about the gun caliber. I carry a Kel-Tec .380 in summer and a Glock 27 in winter. Nobody runs at a gun no matter the size. Nice EDC video.
Hey Jeff! Thanks for all of the great content. I want to get my first pistol(Glock 19) do you have any recommendations or do you think this is a good starter pistol for edc!?
For Christmas I got a civilian lab hazard 4. Which is a 4 carry option bag. Definitely my new favorite pack and I use it as my EDC bag yet switch stuff out and use it when hunting and doing other thing. It's big enough for me too have the stuff I need with me but small enough so I don't put a ton of crap I don't need in it. Most people haven't heard of it but I'd suggest giving it a look
I recently got a thrunite ti3 as my first edc flash light, so far I'm really liking it and it's much more portable than my archer 1C which i love but is too big to edc.
If you like the energy factor of the alternatives but not the mess there is a company called Teaza. They are like chew pouches that you just put in your lip and swallow the juice and when your done with it spit it out. They have a couple different flavors and a free sample on their website.
hey Jeff i was just at Harbor Freight and i bought a $5 knife stainless steal blade i know is bad but after a little sharpening it is a good buy for budget and the thing his heavy as hell and i thought maybe you would let the people know thanks
I rock the Glock 30S in a Foxx Holsters 'Little Foxx' hybrid holster with a fullsize Glock 21 magazine as backup in a Dale Fricke Joab Horizontal mag carrier. I also carry a Spyderco Paramilitary2 as my primary knife and the Klarus XT1A for my flashlight. Other than that, its my leather LA Wallet from CountyComm, minimal set of house and car keys, my HTC One for my phone and spare batteries and leatherman multi-tool in my glovebox. I love every piece of my gear and I wouldnt change out any of my gear. . although, I am considering the Ruger LCP with stainless slide in a DeSantis Nemesis holster for my workout shorts. Hard to jog with a glock in your short pocket. lol
I don't know if you have tried snus yet, but i highly recommend it! Swedish snus is amazing and is a must for alot of swedish guys. I suggest "snusing" a tobacco flavoured one (original) but there are mint versions and such aswell. :)
"New Sub!" This was a good video. I like your set up. ? Do you set up your EDC in the same area ever night before bed all in the same area? Looking for to the Alien Gear Holster review. I just received mine late Jan, 2015 and am trying to like it. I'm of the smaller build. 5'9", 190 and have a smaller bonier waste line. I find that the normal 4 to 4:30 area is not comfortable. I also notice that my pants in the small of the back tends to pull away more noticeably. Just my thoughts. I'm playing around with the ride heights and cant angles. It's been about a week and I'm struggling to get used to the new feel.
I recently got a thrunight TN11s V2 and I love it, but it seems to have a problem where the light will randomly go off and not come back on, maybe the batteries? If you have some advice feel free to share!
man, I just traded my sebenza 25 for a strider sng and i've gotta say that I just love it. Best addition i've ever made to my edc. it just sits in the pocket well and i know that there's nothing i could ever do to hurt that thing. I highly recommend it
Glock 36! Love the 36. I just picked up it's "big brother" the 39sf and they will be backed up with my P380. I need to get some of that Cowboy Coffee chew, that looks tasty.
Wow you are the ultimate manly man :D Love your work man. As a future knife collector I would love to see a compilation of your top quality 10 knifes. Including price, features of course and where to find them if possible. I just explored this channel but I loved your EDC updates, diary of a fat man series and anything connected to butterfly knifes really :D Keep it up man.
You said you don't clip your flashlight to your pocket, I was wondering has it ever fallen out of your pocket? Ive had a flashlight fall outta my pocket when it wasn't clipped.
@cutlerylover what kind of war have you prepared for that makes carrying 3 magazines of ammo needed? even if you get attacked by a gang, 6 bullets should be enough to drop them all
Got the Cryo just over a year ago on Amazon for under $30. Although I carry much more expensive knives now, I'd have to say that's the best blade for the money that I've ever owned. I've since lost it, and just can't bring myself to buy another just yet. I'm kinda hoping I can get one in an upgraded blade steel. That'd really do the trick.
I tried out the Alien Gear holster and didn't like it at all. I sent it back immediately for a refund. I found it to be very uncomfortable. Mine liked to collapse like a leather holster making it very difficult to re holster my firearm, which was a pain in the ass while practicing my draw. The plastic portion of the holster is way too thick in my opinion. I felt since it's so thick and doesn't really bend, that I could only wear it in a certain position on my body (It didn't want to mold to my body). It's way thicker than standard kydex (I don't believe this is made of kydex either). They do have a good warranty though, and their buy back guarantee is legit. I'll give them that.
oh my jesus that jerky chew is awful its like sucking on ground up dog food. but on the other hand jeff i know you did a video where you tried dip and didnt enjoy it (probably because you put half the tin in your mouth which is the equivilant of like 15 cigarettes at the same time) but you might want to try long leaf chew like Redman. its more of a mellow buzz that you have to work by gnawing on it and 'juicing' it up. plus it tastes much better. I would describe the taste as "harsh raisins" its very sweet and raisin-y but has a sort of stingy-ness in there too
Jeff, i know this sounds weird...but i used to mix that cowboy coffee chew with a mint gum and my god was it tasty. what i did was roll a small ball of the cowboy coffee chew and then rolled it up in a stick up gum. then i would jst lightly chew the gum to get it mixed in and then keep it in my lip as if it were a dip. every now and then pop it out and give it a chew to release flavor.
I don't think I've ever noticed these "dip" things here in Canada, Québec. I wouldn't be surprised if these products are sold here though, maybe I'll have a look around the malls and other shops later.
Funny, the Kershaw Cryo has been my new EDC folder as well. Only just got it, and I'm loving it (also calling it the 'poor mans Hinderer ;)), the only 2 things that I have very minor gripes about are: the weight- it's a tad heavy for such a small folder; and the grippiness- it's a bit 'smooth'. Other than that tho, great folder that won't break your bank. Cheers.
I've got an Aliengear as well and I find it to be rather uncomfortable and bulky. The build quality is great but it's just not for me. Perhaps it's not the right kind for my body style (5' 9" 165lbs). I have found that the "Sticky" holster is great though. It's similar to the Remora only smoother and holds a bit better overall. It's far less bulky than any other IWB holster as well as far more comfortable. Just my $0.02 :)
cutlerylover when you get around to finding another neck knife have a look at the bastinelli drago series of neck knives a bit pricy but they have some quality material.
CL, really enjoyed your vids over time....why??? You're just REAL. When I watched Nutns 10 reasons not to bug out vid, that really got me when he looked straight into the camera, obviously fighting real emotional reaction when he said he would gladly carry his wife, who is afflicted with arthritis, and on meds for RA. You assume anybody would say that or do it. But something is REAL THERE. Forget RUclips. Real is what counts
I laughed when I saw the coin in your wallet. I carry a coin my sister got me in France in my wallet and I recently put up a photo of my EDC on Reddit and one of the first comments was about the "condom looking" object in my wallet, haha. I think the Sidekick is a great tool but I find that it is too heavy for my EDC, Thanks for the video Jeff, looking forward to the zippo vids :D
I carry a Leatherman Super Tool 300 at work everyday, so I feel naked without one. I usually belt carry a Rebar which is the mini version of the ST300. I also like the Wingman, and carry it around the house. it's like the Sidekick but has scissors (which I use more than any other tool actually) Good video.
What do you recommend for a under 18 year old, who would like to get into conceal carry when older. I do some hunting but other than that it is only shooting for fun, I would like to carry a 1911 since that is what I am familiar with but I feel as though that is to high of a caliber to carry for self defence
A 1911 comes in EVERY caliber under the sun(although it works best in a 5" 45 acp) but a $500 glock is WAY better than a $500 1911 but if you have enough money to put into a nighthawk or something along the same line. Personally I recommend a glock or a M&P just because if reliability(I don't carry yet but soon)
That caliber isn't a problem, just the size and weight of a full size 1911. If you really want that platform, look for one of the options made for carry that are lighter and have low-profile thumb safety so it doesn't get snagged if carrying IWB
So maybe a stupid question: Since all 3 dip alternatives are food-based I'm assuming they're all edible? And (don't judge me), but would I still spit, or could I swallow?
Living with strict laws in scandinavia, I edc a spyderco spyDK or a Lansky WL (slipjoint because anything else is illegal here.), a victorinox tinker ( I like the smaller size stuff) a 4sevens preon 1 AAA (will soon be replaced by a 4sevens Mini AA light) Phone, keys.... no gun, no big knife
I relate to what you said about criticizing the type of gun people carry. I bought a Ruger LC9s as my first gun and soon to be concealed carry gun. I've had numerous people give me crap about it. The trigger has changed by the way. People say i should have gotten a glock blah blah blah. It's my first gun. I've never said its the best...Though i do like it a lot. I agree with you view that any gun is better than no gun
A mugging is a surprise attack. You know like hitting someone in the back of head with a pipe or rock. I don't mean to walk up to you and say give me your stuff or I'm going to kick your ass, so you can pull out your 45 and blow me in half. Mugging is not a fair fight as if there is such a thing. Mugging is a tactic. So I guess you could say I would be going tactical. I'm just having fun. Concealed carry is fine with me. A gun does not keep you safe from the unknown.
What do you guy use for a EDC Pen? I like to carry a sharpie cause it can write on just about any surface without much bleed through, but it's cap is really shitty for an EDC. Anyone know of a good alternative or ideally I would like a good EDC cap with a metal clip that fits standard sharpies so they are easy to replace. And no I don't need a tactical pen to use as a defensive tool. I carry much better tools for defense.
I only carry my phone (Alcatel One Touch Pop2), my keys and a knife (I like to variate between them). I dont use a wallet because i dont any money to carry(lol). I'd love to live in the U.S, here in my country the restrictions for knifes and personal defense weapons are extreme.
Love the EDC videos. And I agree, gun people should definitely stick together. We have enough drama from anti gunners. We don't need to be attacked from our own.
Man I used to run through cans of the beef jerky when I was a kid. I think I literally went through a can or two a day. Im not a snuff dipper now, but I may give the coffee chew, and mint tea leaf chew a try.
yes I prefer the single stack grip on the 36, Im not too concerned with magazine capacity Id rather have a better grip, if you need more than 6 rounds your in deep shit and should have a rifle, lol
Wolfgang Keyser Not really. As far as combat training you are taught that you should only use your sidearm to fight your way to a rifle or ammunition to reload an empty rifle slung to your back. And if you need to discharge more than one magazine you should be doing everything possible to get to a rifle or fighting your way to an exit. When it comes to practical self defense as a US citizen and not a front line soldier you should carry a spare magazine as a means to fix malfunctions not to continue engaging someone.
6 rounds will probably get the job done in most instances, but you have to remember also that most police agencies report a 75-80% miss rate among shots fired. If you can expect the same, you really only have 1-2 rounds.
Defiantly not what yeager would say. He would say "fight your way to a rifle but he Carrys a glock 19 and 2 glock 26's and 1 extra mag so like 50 rounds of 9mm
For your next neck knife I suggest a 5" Hachidori from Riven Knifeworks. You can find him on Instagram and he makes great stuff. I just got mine a couple days ago and I think you'd like it. You should check him out.
i got a thunite neutron 2a v2 and on the 1 aa battery turbo it stay on but on the 2 aa turbo set up it only stay on for a couple sec is mine broken or should it do that? cutlerylover or anyone else can answer my question
you carry an entire utility belt lol. i have my Fossil watch (gift), my galaxy s5 in a free otterbox case (utilize those promos), my kershaw OSO sweet (great bang-for-buck), my wallet and keys, menthol coughdrops for energy (just try it if you dont believe me. keeps me awake in early lectures), and an odd assortment of pens or pencils if i have a test. my favorite pen is the blue bic atlantis but i just broke my last one so im using a bic "velocityGel" pen which is meh.
i would love to see your review on the kershaw thermite, designed by rick hinderer, i been wanting to buy it for some time now but haven't gotten around to buy it. anyway love your videos man good luck and keep up the good work
You can buy large amounts of that "jerky chew" from the Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese. Its called "pork fluff" and "beef fluff". Give it a try. peace and love.
I imagine when you fall it's like when sonic gets hit and his coins explode everywhere.
I never seem to get tired of watching EDC videos.
Have you included toiletpaper in your car EDC now?
A must LOL.
lol, actually, yes I have to my car BOB
***** Cristina has a pack of baby wipes in our car and it froze solid...for the summer they are certainly better though
I started using edc because of toilet paper, long story short I ended up without my socks.
awesome review on the min and coffee cans gonna give that coffee dip can a try

anyone else who carry a 50cal blackpowder colt army revolver?
I open carry my 20mm anti tank rifle
Grayson Rogers, I think I have the same one, can you recommend a good holster?
Just got the Ontario RAT Model II. I love this knife and it is sharp as a mug.
I recently got a crkt ripple. Amazing knife for the price, perfect lockup, great craftsmanship, comes almost razor sharp out of the box.
I'm not scoffing at the .380, I'm scoffing at the fact you still don't carry with one in the chamber.

Nice to see some Alien Gear love. I use one, and absolutely love it. Holds my gun close but in a very comfortable position, even while sitting.
Which gun is that. I'm thinking about getting one for my Glock 19, because I'm not happy with the Ruger LC9 even though it is easy to carry.

cgr88m
As an EMT I agree, it's a quality tool.
There's not enough salt in there to cause insane water retention. beef jerky chew crap wouldn't affect someone's BP all that much at all
Whats with those magazines? Are those factory 36 mags? Never seen them with the cutouts on the sides
look forward to hear how you feel about the vertx pants. im firmiliar with 5.11 just want input on vertx. keep up the good work

Alien Gear Holsters are so comfortable! I have the version 1 and I sometimes forget I'm carrying my gun.
I think you'd like the Spartan Blades Enyo neck knife. I've carried one just about every day and it is great.
The crkt minimalist knife. Is it a re-profiled razor edge knife? Because it doesn't look exactly like the razor edge or the bowie.
What flash light do you recommend for everyday use
I got myself the cryo not too long ago and im pretty happy with it aside from a few minor things.
I agree with your Gun community view....👍
I recently got a thrunite ti3 as my first edc flash light, so far I'm really liking it and it's much more portable than my archer 1C which i love but is too big to edc.

Hi Jeff, are you going to be reviewing the Spyderco Spy-DK? Looks like a cool UK legal blade.

Ive had a flashlight fall outta my pocket when it wasn't clipped.
first of all, I really like your reviews and i can see the point of the knives. but seriously whats the point with the gun?
To protect yourself from people trying to harm you or animals such as cougars, aggressive dogs, or bear.
@cutlerylover what kind of war have you prepared for that makes carrying 3 magazines of ammo needed? even if you get attacked by a gang, 6 bullets should be enough to drop them all
Maybe he’s not so confident in his shooting skills.
I would describe the taste as "harsh raisins" its very sweet and raisin-y but has a sort of stingy-ness in there too
Try the teriyaki blend of the jerky dust it tastes better than the standard stuff.
Agreed bud. Levi garret here.
redman golden blend
bodypop619sd Tony Gwynn Died to Salivary gland cancer. which is not even linked to Chewing. Get your facts straight before you act like an idiot.
bodypop619sd Whoopdeefuckindoo. You went to his funeral, you still haven't said how Chew killed him.
So you use the dip alternative for the same reason you vape? That's actually a great idea.
Any good places to buy the custom Alan Foltz minimalist I can't find one anywhere!
Do you have MetroPCS up there as a cell phone provider? If you get sick of Net10 I'd recommend them.
What would I search on Amazon to get them dip alternatives I can't find them.?.
I carry a M&P 9c. Love it. Never failed.
So maybe a stupid question: Since all 3 dip alternatives are food-based I'm assuming they're all edible? And (don't judge me), but would I still spit, or could I swallow?
Jerkey is a swallow. Idk about the rest.
You can spit and swallow
Can you by chance do a review on the CRKT M-16-14ZSF?
The dip alternative is neat were can I get te coffee and tea stuf?
Living with strict laws in scandinavia, I edc a spyderco spyDK or a Lansky WL (slipjoint because anything else is illegal here.), a victorinox tinker ( I like the smaller size stuff) a 4sevens preon 1 AAA (will soon be replaced by a 4sevens Mini AA light)
Phone, keys.... no gun, no big knife
Oh and a always carry a Buff (similar to your handkerchief, but with a bit more utility)
What is EDC? I dont know cuz im new in this channel :)
Everyday carry
하지 ShokoFlow Thanks :)
If someone mugs you they are really going to make a haul.
thing is if they try it all he has to do is pull out that glock and make the mugger shit their self.
If you have a gun you are invincible. Well I never thought of that?
pretty sure if you had a gun aimed at your chest or any body part for that matter you'd turn away
We're can you get that jerky chew? I never seen it before.
I don't carry a gun yet...but when I do, it will be my TT30. It is deadly accurate, and it is very light. Great video! Thanks Bro!
My only new edc acquisition was Victorinox Hercules
Where can you buy the mint snuff? Ive been dipping for six years and wanna quit.
Amazon
I only carry my phone (Alcatel One Touch Pop2), my keys and a knife (I like to variate between them).
I dont use a wallet because i dont any money to carry(lol).
I'd love to live in the U.S, here in my country the restrictions for knifes and personal defense weapons are extreme.
That one dip video you did was kinda weird because you chewed the dip instead of just letting it sit
What is the source for the bic lighter clip on your key ring?
Love the EDC videos. And I agree, gun people should definitely stick together. We have enough drama from anti gunners. We don't need to be attacked from our own.
Can u do a full review of the dip things
Nice glock! What model is it?
some really cool adds Jeff looking forward to the reviews
Can you please review some more knives that are California Legal?? Plz if you have time sometime!! Thanks
Man I used to run through cans of the beef jerky when I was a kid. I think I literally went through a can or two a day. Im not a snuff dipper now, but I may give the coffee chew, and mint tea leaf chew a try.
any reason you carry both the zippo and the bic?
Any reason you go with the 36 instead of a 30s? Seems like a lot more rounds for almost no size increase.
yes I prefer the single stack grip on the 36, Im not too concerned with magazine capacity Id rather have a better grip, if you need more than 6 rounds your in deep shit and should have a rifle, lol
Totally agree Wolfgang
Question... Can you get a .22 semi automatic
For your next neck knife I suggest a 5" Hachidori from Riven Knifeworks. You can find him on Instagram and he makes great stuff. I just got mine a couple days ago and I think you'd like it. You should check him out.
i got a thunite neutron 2a v2 and on the 1 aa battery turbo it stay on but on the 2 aa turbo set up it only stay on for a couple sec is mine broken or should it do that? cutlerylover or anyone else can answer my question
there has been coyote sightings in my area. i keep a .22 rifle in my trunk but due to my age i cant have a pistol...
you carry an entire utility belt lol. i have my Fossil watch (gift), my galaxy s5 in a free otterbox case (utilize those promos), my kershaw OSO sweet (great bang-for-buck), my wallet and keys, menthol coughdrops for energy (just try it if you dont believe me. keeps me awake in early lectures), and an odd assortment of pens or pencils if i have a test. my favorite pen is the blue bic atlantis but i just broke my last one so im using a bic "velocityGel" pen which is meh.
i would love to see your review on the kershaw thermite, designed by rick hinderer, i been wanting to buy it for some time now but haven't gotten around to buy it. anyway love your videos man good luck and keep up the good work
You can buy large amounts of that "jerky chew" from the Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese. Its called "pork fluff" and "beef fluff". Give it a try. peace and love.
Have you ever had to use any of those weapons?
What magazines are those with the cutout near the top?
I really enjoy my alien gear holster I think it's pretty decent for the money
Why don't you keep the leather man in the holder on your belt
