- Born in 1969 in Ohio as Brian Hugh Warner, Marilyn Manson would spend most of his childhood being raised in a devoutly religious family in the Bible Belt of America.
His mother would take him to the local Episcopal Church, whilst also being made to attend the Heritage Christian School up until the 10th grade. His father was also a Roman Catholic.
Manson spent his early years being taught to avoid dark temptations and to devote his life to traditional forms of Anglican religion and God.
Manson developed a fascination for modern pop culture. Two of the most popular name’s of the era were Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Although both were famous for two very different reasons, Manson decided to incorporate these juxtaposing celebrities into his own stage name to create Marilyn Manson.

Manson helped get me through a rough life.
I watched my father die from ALS from age 10 to 14 then watched my mom drink herself to death from 14 to 16. I never expected to see 20. I made it to 37 so far and doing well.
When I was on the edge manson's music was a great escape and you didn't feel alone.

Same dude, lost my father to cancer at age 12 and got a crazy mother that was doing a stage production for the first time. He passed on the opening weekend and she didn't tell me till 5 days after he passed, so I didn't get to say goodbye cause she didn't want to deal with grieving children and directing a play at the same time. I had so much hate, total sorrow in my heart and bands like NIN and MM definitely had a huge impact.
Keep going friend. Music is powerful and does help certain people.

I remember him well. He played at a local club I went out to often. He would hang out before they got on stage, I remember seeing him and being so mild mannered and chill until he got on stage and than would transform into one amazing showman with a awesome voice. I never saw him as scitantic, I saw him as a artist. Excellent story/documentary.

Marilyn Manson made me look at the world even more differently and see “more” of what was really happening, not that I didn’t before, but he helped fit in some of the missing pieces.

Bryan has been my first musical obsession at 16 while growing up in a musicless family, “The Man That You Fear” hitting me like a train, passing through me... after that I bought every single cd, vhs, book, t-shirt, poster. He’s been my first concert, he’s been screaming for me when I was unable to do so, powerless bullied fat teenager with a father calling her a clown in front of everyone because of crazy coloured hair, outrageous makeup and style in a small town where I didn’t belong (now it’s called expressing yourself, it’s cool, then it was considered a reason to be marginalised and isolated, to be wrong for not blending in society and its trends). Him, his music and his art will always stir deep emotions in me and I will always be his devoted, grateful fan.

I think with all my heart that Marilyn Manson is misunderstood by people. Yes his fans, including me as a huge fan, understand where he's coming from and what messages he is stating. He's a brilliant man. His music, his art, an author and his outlooks and observations makes him simply a brilliant man. People tend to judge and pass on their own ideologies without really looking deeply into what they are judging. To judge there are 2 sides and actually it's all opinions in reality which I feel judgement is. Everyone has the right to opinions however if you choose to judge remember that it's just your opinion.
Marilyn Manson is misunderstood by society and that's sad. Everyone one of us have faults, even Marilyn, but as humans we should give ourselves and others a chance to forgive.

I'm a younger fan at 28 but still your music was there for every stage of my life and there was not even one album where I didn't like at least one song. Watching this has put me in the mood to stay up all night and watch the Manson appearances on the 'Phil Donahue' talk show, and all the iconic interviews of the 90's. That was what initially drew me to Marilyn Manson, the way he dealt with conflict and people's idiocy, how he never corresponded to hatred with hatred, he was alway so articulated with his answers and never used profanities, but managed to shut them down with eloquence and decorum. I found him mesmerising as a child, and 20 years on, I still follow his career religiously.
It was so nostalgic watching all of his old interviews and being reminded just exactly how intelligent this man really is, a truly misunderstood icon of our time!

Back in the mid '90s, there was a church in Texas that my older sister liked to attend because many of her friends from school went. It was known for its "rocking" youth events. Every once in awhile I would go, like when Jars of Clay came to perform. One of the nights I went with her, many of the teens had brought CDs with them that they considered "evil". Apparently it was requested that they do this. In the middle of the show they started shattering the CDs against a wall. Many of those CDs were Marilyn Manson's and other bands that I liked at the time. It actually scared me watching them because I was afraid that they would find out I liked the music they were destroying. I never went there again after that. I tried to convince my sister that the people there were crazy, but she kept going. It was an insane sight to say the least.

guilty of breaking all of it.’’ (James 2:10). Our carnal mind is hostile to God; it does not submit
to God's moral law and it never will (Romans 8:7). We hate the thought of God for the same reason a criminal
hates a policeman - we know we have sinned against God and are guilty of it and we don't want to be damned.
No good works will ever save you. You can't earn salvation by good works, because God will judge us for our sin.
Good News is that Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy, sinless life and He died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
He was buried and He was raised from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever

We aren’t saved by our good works, but only by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

So I was never a huge fan but he's definitely smarter than what people think he was and he's been around for 26 years now.
I fell In love with Marilyn manson's music when I was in 6th grade and was 12 years old. His music truly kept me hanging onto a life I hated..even though at the time I didn't understand him like I do now. This man has endured some crazy trauma growing up of course he's gonna be fucked up in the head a little bit. I think he is a true musical genius and still at age 28 love his music and respect him.
Manson helped me get through a rough & sad period of my life when i was just a child & i thought i was not worthy of love, his music & his message helped me get out of the hole❤ He's a genius, a true artist & a very misunderstood individual.
I first saw Marilyn in 1995 as the opening act for Korn and Danzig. My friend Mark had brought me with and he was the Guitarist in Halford's band Fight at the time so we we hung out back stage. When Manson took the stage my friend said "You gotta see this". So we stood on the side of the stage and I was like "Holy Shit". I had never heard of Marilyn Manson but I knew this was something completely different. Flash forward Ten years and my friend Mark would end up playing guitar for Manson on the "Against All God's" tour. Mark also played on Danzig's "Blackaciddevil" album.

Huh....because I had a vhs tape of the same era where korn was the opening act for Marilyn manson in Kentucky. Korn wasn't even remotely popular in 95. Not till 98 when follow the leader dropped
“I AM NOT A SLAVE TO A GOD THAT DOESN’T EXIST”. Still one of the greatest lyrics of all time. Manson and I ironically had very similar backgrounds and upbringings. Although I’d have to say my experience with religion as a child was much more extreme than his. But we are both Only children. We had Very religious parents that were actually from two different religions (I had a Jewish mother and a Pentecostal father who converted my mother to the insanity of Pentecostalism-my mother was a nurse, just like Manson’s, and my Dad was a machinist). We were Both Forced into a strict Christian school until we got kicked out. Both of us questioned all that was around us and never really “bought” what they were selling. Then, like Manson, I totally turned my back on the sham that organized religion perpetuates in my opinion-My religious surroundings were much more sever than his though. Starting at age 11, my mother left my father and decided to move us into a cult. It was a living nightmare of terror, insane rules, brutal physical abuse and ritualistic, psychological and emotional horrors and abuses. For instance, the cult made people “vomit up demons”. Which meant I’d have to sit in the middle of a circle of people, as I was crying in terror, and the people would be shouting and screaming and speaking in tongues all around me, and “laying on of hands” (which is just a fancy way to say everyone would forcibly put their hands somewhere on your body). This would go on for hours until I had swallowed so much mucus from crying, that I would finally vomit. You could not get up until you threw up in a bucket that everyone took a turn throwing up a demon in. Then the “demons” were disposed of. That’s just one example of the insanity there. There was much more, but you get the idea. I was an only child of 11, homeschooled by the cult. I literally had no one and was completely alone in the world. No one in the house. Didn’t go to an outside school so no friends. My mother was completely indifferent to my suffering and just did whatever they told her to do and completely ignored my pleas for help and my begging for her to save me. She let them do whatever they wanted or me. I was a sacrificial lamb. Whatever they wanted Included what they did to or with me without her knowledge or presence. I was completely alone in a house of horrors. I could trust no one, and everyone was insane. That’s what it was like there. They held these rituals anywhere from twice a week to a few times a month. It was a living terror being there. Horrible beyond explanation. When we finally left, only because they turned on my mother and got the idea that she was a witch, not because of all the horrible things they did to me, we moved to a new town. It was an awakening. It was my rebirth, and the beginning of becoming who I am today. Also from ages 9-11 (at 11 we left and moved into the cult), I had been incestiously sexually abused by an Uncle who was also a Pentecostal preacher. When I told my parents they told me to pray to forgive him. Made me say “I forgive you” to him, Then did absolutely nothing. NOTHING. I was forced to continue to go to church and listen to him preach and eat at the dinner table with him and forced to hug him and tell him I loved him. Yes. It was extremely damaging and f’d up. I suffered horrible psychological damage via force fed and terrifying religion and all that surrounded it. What my parents had actually taught me by doing nothing to protect me, was that I was worthless and could be abused sexually and if I didn’t forgive the abuser and act like nothing happened I would go to hell. He then went on to abuse other little girls in the church, and is still a “preacher” to this day. Like Manson I rebelled against all the religious rhetoric and pathos that I was taught. I completely turned my back on the hypocrisy and evil that is organized religion. Whatever God is, whether there is a God or not, whatever exists after and beyond this life, it is the organized religion that is twisted and evil, not God. People did those horrible things to me. Not “God”. I always say that organized religion could possibly be the greatest trick the devil ever played; and the greatest evil done in “God’s” name. The fact that I have never had a drug or alcohol addiction or was a heavy drug user or drinker, haven’t committed suicide, am (reasonably 🤣) sane and stable, am loving and kind to animals and those in need and became a licensed clinical social worker to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves, worked to give myself a good education and career, the fact that I survived my upbringing AT ALL, without a needle in my arm or cutting my wrist is kind of a frikin miracle in and of itself. My father died. But My Mom has never once, in my whole life, ever said I’m sorry. For any of what she put me through. Ever. Not once. But I find that I haven’t wanted that from her from a long time or thought I need that from her in order to be ok. I did disown her though; because the price of having my mother (who is a chronic narcissist that uses religion as a cover and excuse to have zero accountability for her actions or lack thereof) in your life is pain, pain and more pain, betrayal, disappointment and then more pain; I haven’t spoken to her in a decade. But there is some good in all this. I did not let my past define who I am. I did not let others define my worth. I made a decision to have the life I wanted, and I created it for myself. I had a horrible family, so I made my own family. I let the pain go, and decided to live instead of die. I am also proud to say I’m an agnostic and have been for a long, long time now. And a life long Marilyn Manson fan. Thank you Marilyn. Your music always made me feel like I wasn’t so alone even when I was. I will always love you for that.

thanks a lot for sharing this, so clearly resumed, i was trying to say something not so different here above but my english wouldn't help me enough, anyway, i am italian, catholic, i went to a catholic school from the age of three until 14, i crossed the whole cross of abuse, insanity, humiliation and sadism that very often you can find in those places, i hated it all, then my parents became pentecostal and i started to have a deep homesick for Saint Roman Church, now i don't even know what they are, because nothing of all this saved them from their meaningless and emotionless desert, so they're fucked up but started to love each other after half a century of war (with its victims, sorry to blame my fate, but i love do that, "pathetic" it's a compliment when you're not calvinist, it means you give pathos, emotion or fakes emotions to things you say) and i am broken and i don't want to be fixed... i forgot to say that i have been - and i am again after a long pause - a have drugs addicted person... i am not proud and don't feel any shame about this... it is what it is.... thank you again

Let's just say I watched many friends and others get murdered over and over.. Witness to much and the pedophile ring I was sold into from 3-17 wants me dead... Police, Lawyers, Judges, politicians and even doctors and so on and so on..
I even witnessed them murder a DA that was trying to expose them.. Taking all evidence against them.. If you know Sandusky name then you know one of the ones they gave up because they didn't like how open he was with everything.. I had been to Sandusky house in the 90's
The cop hired to kill me when I was 10 years old pulled the trigger on his gun and it jammed.. Then un-jammed it pulled trigger again and again.. Jammed..
Oh the cop I found out later was my real father.. My mom was raped and decided to keep me.. Later in life I found my father wanted me to be like him, heartless and evil.. Instead I choose to keep my heart and be a good person..
Finally I was buried alive (rain freed me from my own grave) and to this day they have tried to kill me but I'm still alive.. I promised them I would keep my mouth shut and they more or less have left me alone. Only every couple years they remind me to keep quiet..
I kept my mouth shut for 20 plus years and now speak up as I know one day I will be killed or all the truth will be exposed..

From Catholicism to Pentecostals. That’s jumping from a frying pan straight into the fire. I’m so sorry you went through so much hell and abuse. I know it’s not always easy to talk about. Because in a small way one has to relive it to talk about it; relive it in the minds eye, even just a bit, when one brings it back to the surface to talk about or share. Even anonymously. It’s a secret pain. A secret shame. Also Completely understand how it eats, punches and erodes you from the inside out, and that it’s actually good TO talk about it. Even though it’s ugly and it’s hard. Also applaud you for being so honest about your addiction. And my friend, I don’t judge you at all. The lure of feeling no pain after all that pain, it’s intoxicating. My heart cries for you. Because I understand it so innately. It could have been me too, right beside you in your version of the “escape from pain” plan. But instead of drugs you ingest, at one time in my life my version of the “escape from pain” plan was sex. I know a lot of people don’t believe this exists, but I am 💯 a sex addict. Or I should say, a recovered euphoria addict. And I don’t have near your bravery to be so open about it. It’s the hardest thing of all for me to talk about. I rarely, RARELY, tell anyone I know in person even. But your courage is giving me courage. It may be hard to understand, but it was very much like any other addiction. I reeked so much havoc with it. Destroyed my marriage. Destroyed friendships. Mostly it was all women too. Slept with every single female friend I had. Like some kind of badge of honor. It started to be kind of like sport for me. Female friend? They were in my sights. And in all fairness, many came to me. Married or not I didn’t care. And to be honest neither did they. Had sex with anonymous girls in more than one bathroom stall at the club. Had threesomes with my husband...and without him. Had online affairs. Was addicted to porn. Had an affair with an old boyfriend. It actually ended up costing me a job. I lied about being sick just so I could have sex with him all day instead of being at work. When they called the doctor’s office to fax a note for me, they told them I hadn’t been there. And when I lost my job, it ended up costing us our house too. Because I couldn’t help pay the mortgage. It was so very, very horrible. But the worst, the most horrible thing, I Had a 4 year affair with my husbands best friend who had also been my first love. And the best man at our wedding. It was so fkd. He was also an alcoholic. He wanted me to leave my husband and be with him. But I never did. It was total and complete destruction. AND I COULD NOT STOP. I would sob, crying as I drove back home from his house. Screaming sometimes. Screaming “YOU HAVE TO STOP!! NEVER AGAIN NEVER AGAIN NEVER AGAIN!” But again it was. And I know now why I couldn’t stop. Having all these people on a string, a sex string, made me feel...empowered. It gave me power over sex. Because when I was a child I was powerless to stop the sexual abuse. But in the throes of my addiction, I felt a twisted sense of being all powerful, and in a absolute control, completely. But the feeling would only last so long. And wore off quick. So I would then need another “fix” to get the feeling back. Bit it came with a terrible cost. Somewhere in the midst of it, I found that I hated myself. Truly and utterly hated myself. Despised myself. Came very close to checking out for good. Spiraled into very risky behavior. Unsafe behavior. Because I had no regard for myself. I’d lost any and all self esteem or pride. I simply hated myself. But that wasn’t even the worst part. The GUILT. Which was WHY I hated myself. The guilt was crushing. Because I loved my husband. And he was also my friend. He was good. We had known each other since I was in middle school. We had such a close bond. Again, the guilt was crushing. So bad that I voluntarily came clean to my husband. Just couldn’t live with it anymore. His trust. My guilt. His goodness. My despicableness. If I hadn’t told him myself, he would have never even know. That’s how devious I was. How concealing and good at lying I was. Horrible. When I told him, I Tried to explain how being sexualized at such a young age had broken something inside me. Damaged me utterly. And that I hated what I’d become. And how I’d already broke everything off, ended everything. And was going to go to therapy. But it was the death blow. He left me. I lost him and his son, who I loved so much and he called me Mom. My addiction and behavior destroyed my family. That was over a decade ago. And I’ve worked really hard to be where I am now. Really hard. And it was worth it. I’m so happy I did. I reclaimed myself. I reclaimed my self worth. I also never put myself in a situation where I’d be tempted to slide back into the old habits. I now use my spare time to rescue, save and foster cats in need. Instead of the former “fix”. And it’s a million times more rewarding. It was hard work and steely determination, but I did it. And so can you. Just wanted you to know that If you want to quit, it is possible. But it’s up to you. And you don’t have to go it alone. Hey, we survived this long right? Through all the horror. Guess that makes us bad ass survivors. And strong enough to overcome anything. It was really hard for me to write this. I’m feeling ashamed and embarrassed right now. I know people could judge me harshly. But they don’t understand. Not like we do. So I wrote this for you. Because I’m truly Wishing all good things for you. Thank you again for sharing your story. The reason I wrote my story, as hard as it was, is because I wanted you to know you’re not alone. And I Hope mine gave you some hope. 🖤 edit-sorry so long. Hope it wasn’t too much. AND NONE OF IT HAPPENED IN A CULT OR CHURCH. THATS FOR DAMM SURE. But there is something. If you want me to share the experiences with you I will. Just let me know. But I also believe that no human really knows what that “God” is or what it means or what really happens after we die. Maybe it’s not a GOD so much as a different level of existence, without a body, just our energy. But I firmly believe everyone is just guessing. Except maybe for people who’ve died and come back. They may have an inkling. But maybe not. Maybe it’s just Brain waves. One thing I know for sure is, it’s certainly not preachers and certainly not religion. Religion is man made. God or whatever it is when we died, is not. And the God of religion is not God I’d want any part of anyway. They can keep that God. But they are guessing, just like everyone else. I'm not like hugely religious as in I'm not all in on one or the other religions. I feel like God is real as in something somewhere created all of this. I just think most organized religion was put together by humans and humans are incredibly corrupt and prone to seeking power over other humans. History demonstrates this all too well. Its interesting the era were in now because it goes both ways but everyone screams about being allowed to have a view but are very quick to tell everyone else what it is they should believe. I see it a lot in politics and culture from the left to the right. There are times where I'd swear the two "sides" were made for one another - using the same tactics, holding the same attitudes, etc - just with slightly different flavors. I've seen a lot of anti religious sentiment out of everything from the mainstream media to Hollywood to numerous politicians.
I'm sorry you feel persecuted man and to some degree disrespected I'd imagine. It isn't right. I'd like to think we can all agree on that out of the sake of the species rather then this destructive need to be right and dunk on one another. I hope we all reach the realization that were being pitted against one another for the sake of those higher up that wish to control our direction.

I think this was a good documentary and as a manson fan I really enjoyed it, however I feel you kinda glazed over the Spooky Kids era as they had a few album releases back then before portrait of an American family. You also didn’t really talk about the members which were a massive driving force to Marilyn mansons (the band and the singer) success. You also didn’t mention Smells Like Children Children EP which essentially was the thing that made him pretty well known because of his Eurythmics Sweet Dreams Cover and the Jay Hawkins I Put A Spell On You Cover. You also didn’t mention columbine which he was ultimately blamed for and thus ended up being an inspiration/open letter to making Holy Wood. Nevertheless I enjoyed the video! You get a like from me :)

The one thing I will say. regarding Columbine, I purposefully made sure to NOT include this as I'm sick of seeing him being labelled as the person responsible for it, almost every interview you watch he has to deal with it. But it's important to note how that incident was a driving force behind Manson's creative flow and how it shaped his music and message at that time. In my opinion, the best quote comes within the first two minutes of this documentary, that "art should be a question mark, not an answer". As a writer and former singer myself, I truly believe that, and Marilyn is so wise for saying it. That sums all music up for me, and what it should be, and everyone should have that attitude and not expect artists to be perfect or conform to any standards. They are humans , too, just like us, even if they are icons, and Marilyn is very smart for recognizing that he can't heal the world, he can only present it to us and have us reflect on his his interpretation of it. It’s a great quote
Throughout my teenage years when I first heard his music (I think I was 15 or so) and still to this day Marilyn Manson has been a huge source of support for me. I was born with a very serious case of Tourette's Syndrome, and I was bullied to the point of ending up having some of my school bullies that also lived in my neighborhood in high school physically assault me for a time because they thought I wouldn't fight back or was too lacking in control of my own body to do so. (Tourette's Syndrome often shows itself outwardly through verbal and physical actions not in control of the person with said disorder, and mine were mostly physical.)
This problem even followed me to my first semester of college to the point I dropped out and then went to a community college. I've had my battles both with bullies and my own inner demons of serious depression and difficulties with social interaction in general due to my condition, but things only got worse. I was at a point where things seemed bearable. I had a strong relationship and it seemed like it would lead to marriage and was the closest relationship with someone who actually saw me as her equal and really seemed to love me as much as I did her.
The reason being was that at this point I was very physically active: I was almost done getting my associate's degree, I had been training in martial arts for at least a few years by that point and planned to become a part-time martial arts teacher, I was working a physically demanding job that I really loved, and would go to the gym for a couple of hours about five or so times a week. Then a combination of all that physical activity caused me a bad injury to my back. Despite years of surgery, medication, injections, physical therapy, etc., I still feel the pain and am limited by it at all times every day.
I couldn't afford to continue college or even sit in a chair long enough to get through my classes, and medical bills were piling up. The girl that I was hoping to one day start a life with left me soon after my back became a problem. She developed a habit of contacting me via Facebook just to send messages about her dating one guy or another, although these turned out to be lies. She also explained that she only dated me to go on nice dates and that she used me so she could lose her virginity.
I just told her that she was only hurting herself by messaging me and that I hoped she would move on to find something meaningful to her, and I meant it and still do. I dropped all connections to her so she could never contact me again. She had become yet another negative force in my life at that point, so I saw no reason to continue talking to her. Anyway, I've gotten to a point where I can at least bear the back pain, but over a year ago I was thrown for another loop.
I developed a serious case of TD, which causes me further involuntary movement, constant physical pain and tension, especially in my legs. I can't actually sit down for more than a few minutes at a time, and even laying down is a source of pain and tension with no relief for a single second throughout the day. I can barely sleep, and I also now can't control it when I scream in agony just laying down at home. I'm currently looking into neurosurgery to see if something can be done to help me so that this waking nightmare that is my life can return to some semblance of livable.
Through all of this toil and misery, Marilyn Manson's music has been my only true source of comfort apart from my writing of self-published short stories and books. Although I know I will never be able to tell him myself, I thank Marilyn Manson for all that he has created and all that he has done for me because he really has saved what amount of life that I continue to cling to.
I still fight for a better tomorrow for myself because I do still feel that I can pull through and I hope to one day be capable of being a positive influence through my own creativity for others in whatever form that takes.

Excellent Bio/Doc that was right down the line noting controversy without jumping on a side. I remember fighting about him with so many for what Marylin Manson expounded upon... freedom of thought. They like many confused the imagery for the message. The images of him, his videos, and the band were always stunning to me and I adore the continuing evolution of his makeup. I still would love to photograph him sometime...
I remember when I was just a little kid; everytime we were in a car driving from the destination A to B on the vacations, my parents brought Marilyn Mansion's albums. They turned it up as loud as it can get and that's how I got into his music. I love a lot of different artists but Marilyn will always bring the best memories of my childhood!!

He's been so misunderstood its crazy!! Sometimes people only see what they want to see and they put a target on his head from the very beginning! In doing so, they only prove his exact point!! When i was 10 i bought Mechanical Animals CD, i listened to the music, looked at the booklet and i didnt know what was going on. After that i became obsessed with music, he was my first love and i love him after 25 more years. He brought me into the world of music, which was more than once a life saver for me.

WOW!!-Great documentary on the apparently, still misunderstood Marilyn Manson!!-I have to admit, I didn't listen to MM when it was first popular, but coming across their music recently-and often wondering what this guy was really about, wanting to hear him speak in interviews, such as this(documentary[ies]).-IMO, MM seems to be an intelligent, highly-ARTISTIC man, who, although he may be a bit intense for some, produces good ARTISTIC product with his music and artistic compositions!-I appreciate the simple, linear, yet bone-crushing heavy guitar riffs in his earlier sounds, and his watercolor art has a slightly frighteningly etheriel appeal!!-Love MM or not, this man has proven his artistry to the world-may he produce more of his unique brand of ART in the future!!-

I had his album "Antichrist Superstar" as a young teenager and it changed me.
I don't know for the worse or the better but it definitely had an impact on me growing up and my future life choices.
I think I could best describe it as it made me a less mainstream human being.
Changed my life too..listened on my way to school for 5 years every day when I was 15 ..every song has his own mood ..u feel trapped into that album and can't leave without it.its like a shelter for broken souls
I saw him for the first time at what was then just called Ozfest. The first one. The one where Black Sabbath got back together. The concert was scheduled to be outdoors in Wisconsin just over the border from Minneapolis/St Paul.
When Wisconsin saw the lineup, they banned MM. Ozzy wasn't having it so they pulled out of Wisconsin and moved the concert to the Metrodome in Minneapolis. I'm glad that happened and we didn't miss him, however we did miss out on the festival weekend camping.
While there were certainly drawbacks playing in an indoor football stadium, there was one huge benefit. There were 2 stages, one in each end zone. As soon as one band was done, the next act started at the other end. The concert went nonstop morning to night and you couldn't miss any of the lineup.
I am now 29.. my first 2 CDs were 'Lest we forget the best of' and 'American Idiot'.... i was 12.
