The blockade is a mistake from our point of view because we have all the information. But anybody in Jayce's position would have done the same thing: a terrorist attack just killed 6 people and the sheriff thinks more attacks will occur. Of course, closing the bridge is the right move to help Silco, but Jayce has no idea what's really happening.

Technically, it isn't supposed to be a blockade. It's supposed to be the TSA. His instructions were to check everyone crossing the bridges. It isn't clear why it turned into a complete blockade if that is what it is. Did Marcus change the idea? Did they have to shut it down due to the rioting? We don't really know.

A little explanation as to why Ekko hesitated there at the end with Jinx.
One of his quotes in the game to Jinx: "I had a crush until you started talking to the gun"
He loved her when they were kids, and no matter how much he tells himself, throughout this episode, that "all that's left is Jinx" and "you can't change her", right there in that moment he shows, that's not the way he actually feels. Pure masterpiece all around this show😍

A detail someone pointed out in the bridge scene is that the mechanical firelights are attracted to weapons (you can see them clinging to the enforcer's pistols and rifles) so if Cait hadn't given her weapon to save Vi, she'd propably be dead as well

I don't think Jinx's reaction on the bridge (calling Vi a liar) is as irrational as you're making it seem. If you only account for what Jinx is actually seeing through the binoculars: Ekko shows Marcus the gemstone, Ekko is shot, she then focuses on Marcus picking up the gemstone, and only then does she see Vi running back to them. She thinks Vi is trying to recover the gemstone, which she must have "lied" about knowing of. As the audience we know she's wrong and Vi is running back because she's worried about Caitlin being in imminent danger (it's unclear whether Jinx could hear Vi shout "Caitlin!" from where she was sitting or if that was just for the audience to hear), but I don't think her conclusion is unreasonable from her perspective.

    • @Hohum37

I see your point, but: I think when a person with severe abandonment issues sees a primary attachment turn around when they thought they were going to be reunited, rationality takes a back seat. A rational person in Jinx's position would be thinking - "damn, there was a gunshot where my sister's friends just went, no wonder she's going back".

But literally a few hours ago she was entirely dumbfounded why Vi wouldn’t know if her sister was alive or dead while she was rotting in a jail cell, and was entirely unaware of just how impoverished people were, yet she’s speaking like it were so simple.
She speaks so confidently about solving things she has no experience with and just learned mere hours before.
Just like with Jayce, here heart is in the right place, and she has the right idea. But she doesn’t actually know what she is talking about in terms of concrete action.

@@BOLDcasti think it's really easy to give the Pilties a hard time, mostly because they deserve it, without remembering their context.
Caitlyn has an understanding of the undercity informed by decades of being a noble woman's daughter and at least a few years of Enforcer training, none of which would include any of the hard facts about the undercity. You could rightly call that indoctrination, but either way, she's actively trying to synthesize what she's seeing and learning against decades of conflicting data, and not all of what she's seeing (rampant crime, drug abuse, violence) contradicts the information she has.
It's been less than two days faced with reality. Cait is naive but not stupid, and she's kind before she's judgmental. She's kind of the total opposite of Jayce, who's brilliant and willfully ignorant, judgmental and self righteous until he is *proven wrong.* it's the difference between an investigator and a scientist, one seeks facts to develop a theory and the other has a theory and pursues facts to prove or disprove it. The subtle distinction between these two is almost entirely philosophical, but it means everything in the context of how they behave in the show. It's why Jayce seems to constantly be flipflopping. He is absolutely sure of each hypothesis until it's proven wrong.
And before the science bros get mad, I'm aware that Jayce's example is not good empiricism. But if you've worked with enough engineers, you also know it's not inaccurate.

She did noticeably hesitate. As Ekko paused and looked at her, she didn't see someone looking at her with anger, fear or disgust - just an old friend - and I think in that moment, she didn't want to live any more. Her final expression isn't that of a psychopath, it's a wistful goodbye.

The only plothole I find in the whole series is: How come Ekko doesn't know the bridge's closed with all the intel he should have? It's a tiny but huge detail if you think about it because it unleashes the whole bridge scene (which is my favorite in the whole series btw) but if he knew the border's closed then he should've taken a different path and avoided the Enforcers, priving us from this masterfully executed scene so we're just gonna let is slide

How would he know, it's not like he has a massive crime syndicate with thousands of spies it's just a small gang, and they literally just made the blockade like 24 hours ago.

@@tonylukban1880 that might be true... but Ekko's reaction is not of a knowing man 😂 still, we're nitpicking here as there're little to none to complain about

    • @VashTown

Remember when the blockade went up was when everyone, including Ekko, was deep into the undercity at the super slums. The Firelights are a sizable group, but not anywhere close to the influence of Silco, so we might assume that Ekko pulled most of his crew for the extremely important mission of gathering intel on Vi's return. In fact the Firelights are kinda insular, and by choice it seems since they like their little paradise. From my memory, we never actually see them casually interact with anyone else from the undercity, so it could be the case that the web of rumors has a hard time reaching them.
That's the best I could come up with, but it's still kind of a stretch yeah lol

    • @ipawnyanab

I mean he was busy fighting jinx and vi at the time, then busy taking vi and cait to the hideout and talking to them then making the plan to go to piltover, not really any time to find that out. The firelights arent a large group, they were all in the fight, and all in their sanctuary after to recover.
