i do not think I have seen any other crafter on RUclips still using those scissors. I gave mine away years ago. Now I wish I had kept them! This technique is fabulous! Thanks for the fun video.
Lindsey...your cards are so beautiful...and, so hands on...love your creativity. These are the type of videos, I love to craft to.😀Love the tip about keeping the embellishments the same on a varied card set.
Hi, Lindsay! Wow, I love that card sooooooo much! The darker blue was a much better contrast. And I need that butterfly stamp! These are great sizes. I am...attempting...to make thank you notes for my daughter's wedding. So far, it's ...going...:)
I love this look :))) Lindsay, you have no idea how difficult it was for me to find these deckle paper edge scissors. I wanted to have them so badly just because I saw you using them and I got every other edge except these ones. And then one day I was in a store searching for something totally different and there they were... Just one pair left, waiting for me! I couldn`t help but smile all the way home, constantly having you in mind because you`re the only one, I know, who uses them. Well, they aren`t as fancy as yours but good enough for me :))) Thank you for always inspiring me with your wonderful out the box creations. xoxo, Josi
Ahhh ripping ;D. I have been doing ripped landscapes with students on my sub jobs. We layer green and sunset colors -yellow, peach on top of purple and green mountains just tearing up and down or curves.
Your cards are so pretty! Who wouldn’t enjoy getting one of them! Thanks for showing us the resist technique. It adds another dimension to card making!
Hi Lindsay, I have just got some large floral stamps from That’s Crafty here in the UK. I might try this technique with these as I prefer to exercise my hard won watercolour skills on my cards. Thanks for the video, Rebecca x
Took it as inspiration for my wedding cards...😍 but I did a wash of three colors as background and let dry. Then stamped a the text and the flower on it.
I really love that stamp you used. I've been wanting to order from Topflight Stamps, I've been wanting some Lavinia stamps for years, and they're one of the few places that carry them. I also think I'm going to have to look for those cute robot stamps you used recently. Lindsay, you asked a while back if people were still interested in your card videos. I know I still watch them a lot because even though I don't make many cards, you can often learn techniques( like this easy and awesome one today) that you can use for other things. Personally, I love mixed media and I almost always learn something I can use from your videos. But, I must say the videos where you show us how to save money making our own supplies are my absolute favorites!
Lindsay, PLEASE, don't stop making videos about CARDS! I know that that aspect of paper crafting is rather "long in the tooth", but it's one form of artistic expression that more people may be willing to try, as opposed to a "master work".
Beautiful card designs. I much prefer the results from full size stamps such as these and the My Favorite Things stamps than the peg stamps. More impact! TFS
This came at such a great time. Im trying to learn how to do watercolor pouring with masking fluid to block off areas each time & have been struggling through it. This helps it make sense now & will be a useful way to practice until I have a final piece in mind. Thank you for these great videos!
Watercolor pouring with masking fluid? Are you masking areas then pouring the watercolor, waiting for that to dry, then masking again? I could see where that would be similar to "negative painting," maybe? What a neat idea. I've often wondered if anyone pours watercolor like they do acrylics. Where did you learn about this? Thank you if you reply, tell your secrets!😊
These cards are stunningly beautiful! I love how you take tried and true techniques and come up with something that is fresh and fun. I really like the variation in the flowers, and the buttons and lace lend it that old world elegance without them feeling contrived or fussy. I also like how you constantly use your different adhesives or a different type of card or watercolours, it really reinforces that "use what you have" idea, and seeing some one use something like you have really helps instill confidence in people that may be starting out.
Many thanks for several specific tips: TopFlight Stamps, because they offer very unusual international stamps; wax crayon resist, as NOW for the first time I understand that artsy term Masking-it finally connected in my brain; button threading through paper WHAT? Wow. These cards are beautiful, artsy and vintage. Didn’t know you could change colors of lighter colored lace or ribbon by layering matching watercolors! You are a wealth of information and thanks for the coupon code! ❤️
Linday, this is one of my favorites of your videos! The daffodil card is especially beautiful. I'm not usually a cardmaker, but I'm going to try this on something, maybe in my journal. Thanks!
I really love this technique and can see how it will improve even my watercolour painting. I can't wait to try it. I also love the stamps you used- will be adding them to my wish list for sure!
Love these beautiful vintage looking cards!! The stamps are all gorgeous with all your color choices...but wow I love those blue butterflies!! Lovely! Thanks so much Lindsay! (And I love your lace in the birdcages! I'm going to do that in my craft room!!!) :)
Thanks for this great video. I decided in the last year, that I’m going to stick with watercolor as my main colorant, rather than investing more in water-based markers, or anything in alcohol markers. I have found that watercolor is no more work-intensive than great marker work, and it’s more flexible. My little Cotman pocket sketcher set will give me a huge range of colors, so I don’t need to go out and buy a zillion markers AND ink pads AND other media sets. I love your resist work. And I’ve been working to improve my watercolor techniques, including glazing. This video just hit my needs on so many levels. Thanks for a great lesson! Love the stamps, too!
Beautiful cards Lindsay. I love that you use embellishments from the "past". I like the newer things but I also like the older things and I have a lot of them. So why not use them. They will come back in time anyway, it seems like everything does. Will a plain white crayola crayon work for this process? I love my deckle scissors too. My favorites is the purple flowers and the butterfly cards.
Hi Lindsay, just found this video and I'm so excited. Your work is amazing. Your instructions are very good. Found this enjoyable. Loved the stamps. Did you use a special white crayon? Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see more.
Yay! Love the resist technique and the paper in place of string, genius!!! I also liked the idea of tinting your own lace etc. with watercolors too. QUESTION: I bought water colors that give a chalky texture.....what am I doing wrong or are these just too low grade of water colors? Will the resist technique work with water color pencils?
they will work for resist and also for distress oxide look backgrounds. Often less expensive watercolor contain fillers which make them looks chalky, just use them when you want a softer look:)
I forgot to order the crayon when I ordered from tooflight. Will a childrens crayon work? These are gorgeous cards! Thank you for sharing the coupon code. I haven't ordered from topflight previously. I am excited to get my order.
Pretty card! Would you recomment using this layered watercolor resist on a WC painting? I have a southwestern sunset I want to paint where yellow bumps up against purple (and somehow I need to avoid those colors turning brown together).
Simply apply a white crayon (or any color, really!) in or around your stamped design, and it will resist any other ink you apply. ruclips.net/video/LkP-_z48jMI/видео.html
Cheryl Robertson the stamp image is 4.6 x 3.2, so maybe closer to 5x7? It’s up to you depending on your preference and envelopes you already have. Lindsay has a video for making custom-sized envelopes with 12x12 cardstock-that’s where I learned it!
Having no arm or shoulder strength I can’t use presses but am more a colorist than a drawing artist or free painter. Is there a way for ppl w disabilities to be able to stamp images to paint??

Tyvm. I’m trying to learn to watercolor from actual paint not paint pens and such a better result you get with real WC’s but having a very hard time know where to put say third layer in certain spots (the shading colors) I don’t see like many other seem to see but I’m not quitting ☺️..
