    Nice car man, I just bought a black 05, black leather.. Absolutely flawless interior. Engine runs like new... I got it for DIRT cheap... 222k miles, original engine and trans.. I'm about to install shift solenoids.. As it doing the notorious erratic shift.. Love the car.. Great video

      Check the transmission ground strap negative cable from battery. It's under the battery. They rot off where they bolt to transmission. It causes the erratic shift

    I saw this posting on another site, regarding the sunroof operation...hopefully this will work for your Maxima and maybe you can demonstrate this in a video for us...
    ...."if you have a batt problem or remove batt with out saving set programs. You must reset it.do this by tilt up ,tilt down ,open ,close you must keep pushing open and close till it is opened all the way then closed all the way. Turn switch off wait 10 sec then try just open a little at a time then close then try full open. That is what repair man said it worked for me."
    ...give it a go! We'd like to see if this works!!

    Are these design and built in the USA ? I'm from Australia and have a 2005 that's totally different. Made in Japan. Same as all Asian models also known as teana. I have the same issue with chain guides. Is it a big job and expensive?

      Mine was making that same whine for about 2 months, then it started popping out of gear, slipping between 3-4 and 4-5, and eventually sounded like there were rocks inside the tranny!! Took it to a reputable shop, and he scanned the transmission and found 4 trouble codes that were the problem. First off, the valve body had 2 stuck valves, the torque converter was burnt up, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear clutch packs were burnt up, and 2nd gear servo springs were broken. Needless to say, it needed rebuilding!! Everything inside the transmission is new, except for the gears and sun shields. It has all new clutches, bands, gaskets, seals, torque converter, front pump, servos, and valve body. Also, I have a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. Mr. Transmission and Aamco wanted $3500 for a remanufactured unit, but only give a 90 day warranty! That was a no-brainer!

    • @bamacarnut4876
      @bamacarnut4876  6 лет назад

      Believe me, I thought the same thing. Until it started getting worse, and took about 4 days until couldn't drive the car anymore! One certain way to tell is, check the odor and color of the transmission fluid. It should be bright red, and slightly sweet odor. If its a reddish-brown, even brown, and an oily odor to it, that is signs of something burning up inside. Might want to have yours scanned at a reputable shop

    • @t.rico2400
      @t.rico2400 6 лет назад

      Kinda saved my life there, thanks.. mine has a burning smell after I'm done driving and the fluid is a little brown and smells burned.. when i drive, it'll slip. Like I'll hit the gas, it changes gears, then revs up to about 4000 rpm and then BOOM it switches gears rough

    Just changed the entire timing kit. Bottom tensioner and guide, both top tensioners and guides and all 3 new chains. Found a squished guide pin between phaser gear and camshaft and had to replace the gear and cam(which cost $700 from a Nissan dealer) online a lot cheaper if I had 2 months to wait. The chain is strong and won’t break but other things can, possibly causing a camshaft to go out of timing and ruin the whole engine. I think Some people only change the bottom tensioner and guide, if we hadn’t done all of them i would not have found the other broken parts and who knows how long it would’ve lasted.

    • @bamacarnut4876
      @bamacarnut4876  6 лет назад

      Thanks..First and foremost, timing chain guides and transmission failures are common on this generation Maxima's. I would check the fluid condition of the transmission, because if it is not a pinkish-red, you're gonna have issues! Those transmissions are around $2800 to get rebuilt, so the car would have to be in excellent condition overall to spend that kind of money.

      A good set from Nissan is around $120. But, its a pain in the ass to change! Takes a lot of patience, and a fair amount of knowledge to tackle. Gotta make sure your timing marks do not move, or you'll be replacing cylinder heads!!
