I once approached a girl who was about 1-2 inches taller than me(I'm 5'7).
When she said that she only dates guys 6'0 or taller, I responded to her that I had a friend who was 5'12, she said nope they've got to be 6'0 or taller.
I just smiled and walked away.

look i'm not saying 5'10 is short, but 6'2 is not rare. Scroll down and look at denmark, germany, netherlands, norway ect. the average there is 5'11-6'1. so 1-2 inches bigger isn't rare at all you would know if you visited these places tall dudes above 6'4 are very commen

Anyways the reason many of these countries have such high height averages is simply because they have such small populations. And I see a lot of false data above. Im 5'10 and my height had always been an issue for guys. If i liked them, I didn't care that they were shorter than me, I would've dated them anyway but they always turned ME down. It really sucks that this is what its like. You can be tall and absolutely beautiful but in my experience, my height has always been my enemy for that reason. It really hurts my feelings. Tall women can't help being tall. We didn't ask for that, our parents are at fault and there's nothing we can do about it. Same thing for shorter than average men. My bf is 5'7 and it didn't really bother me, but so many people always have something to say whether it be by looks or actual words about our height differences. A friend of mine had a party last weekend and me and my bf were dancing and she said, "Ha ha ha, she's so much taller than him" and shook her head. I pretended I didn't notice, but it gets to you after a while. It's mean and not right to be that way, but society brain washes everyone to believe the standards they set for everyone.

I think every woman's ideal height for a man in 6'4". They have this feeling that any man below 6 feet tall is weak and can't protect them. Height has nothing to do with whether you can fight or not. I know a lot of men who are tall and are weak and men who are short who can fight.

All the men in my family are 185cm +, I am also pretty tall (172cm). For a relationship I feel height is really important but there are other factors affecting whether the relationship is right for me. People's expectations are different, and there is always someone out there for everyone :)
I'm 5'9, love to wear heels which pretty much makes me 6ft. Dated shorter guys, guys my height, and guys around 6ft. My dream was to date someone super tall and I met this guy, 6'7, and I found it to be exhausting to date him. He was like a literal celebrity. Every where we went people were gawking, snapping photos, telling the same lame height jokes, chasing him down, asking does he play basketball. And then you can't just go anywhere and just be---someone that tall attracts people just by the nature of being tall. People would just follow us...literally follow us around pointing, making comments. I'd like to say it doesn't matter, but height does matter to some degree, but you just have to be with someone who literally doesn't care and sees you for who you are. I've had plenty of guys see me in my heels and feel like, can't date that because I'm going to look like her son or they feel inferior. So its a double edged sword.
***** Depends where you`re from. I`m 6`7 too. Here in Northern Europe I get the occasional "you`re tall"-comment, but no one ever stares. The average for young men here is 6 feet, so wherever you go, you see 6`2 - 6`4-guys. They`re not that much shorter than me. 6`5-6`7 is more uncommon, but I`m far from alone.
I did however visit Thailand once, so from that experience I certainly understand how you and your boyfriend felt. You`d think I`d just stepped out of an UFO from the way they looked at me :)

Being 5'9, I've always been considered taller than average, but it really isn't until I'm in a pair of heels which push me to 6, 6'1, 6'2, that I really get eyeballs on me. I like it a little bit, the attention, but I also know I have the power to take those heels off and turn it off and go back to almost blending unlike being 6'7.

Oh gosh, out of curiosity I looked up the average height of men and women in Thailand, which is 5'5, and 5'1 respectively. I can't imagine not sticking out there! U.S. (yes, I'm American) is 5'10 for men and 5'5 for women. I've been tall my whole life...always above average height of my friends so I guess I'm used to it. It's kind of funny---having been 'the tall one' my whole life, when I do meet with women who are naturally taller than me, its like the clash of the alphas. Norwegian men and women (here) average 6 feet and 5`7, which is tall, but my family is even taller.
Me, my dad, and my brother are 6`7, 6`5, and 6`4. My mom and sisters aren`t that much above average but still somewhat so at 5`8, 5`10, and 5`7.
Still, it isn`t that uncommon, so we don`t stick out in an uncomfortable way.
We live in a society where people value looks over a person personality or good character and heart. If a woman gets in a relationship with a man base on his height and looks, what happen when the man lost his legs or looks? Can the woman be with the man after he lost his legs and looks? What inside is what matters. Looks and height can only go so far. A good heart and character have much more value in life.

I think it's a bad phenomenon that short guy date short girl while tall guy date tall girl, the short couple end up having kids that are too short, and tall couple end up having kids that are tall, and feel good about themselves. While some short men may end up define themselves as short, and feel inferior, some probably had killed themselves, who knows?

My 5'6" friend has been with one girl his whole life and she was 5'0", he just graduated college this month. I feel so bad for him in a way because he will ONLY date girls 5'2" and shorter. I think it's true that most of us women want a tall man, but men definitely shouldn't feel bad about being 'short'. I am 5'11" which is pretty tall for a woman I guess and I like men who are like 6'3" or even taller. But I have a lot of shorter girlfriends. I'm 5' 9" and I have no problem with shorter guys. I feel pretty comfortable with my height and usually only notice a guy's height if he is majorly shorter/taller than me. I feel like guys care more about it than women do, although I have surprisingly been hit on by a lot of shorter guys. I am 6'4'' tall. I would prefer to have relationships with shorter women for a couple of reasons. First, not many women are at my height or taller. Second, women are shorter than men on average, so it makes sense for me to be in a relationship with a shorter woman. When comparing men to women, men tend to be taller.
