Love the way the plants look hanging from the ceiling, especially the alliums and chamomile. The mixing bowl looks vintage, it's just gorgeous! The cake looks delicious, even though I don't care for rhubarb myself. Such a nice spot in your garden to relax and enjoy it all, too. Thank you for sharing with us, Katie! All the best to you.
Hi! Your garden is looking beautiful! It’s been awhile since Iv stopped by been working out in the garden with my husband and children. We have been having so much fun. But I have missed your channel so much it always gets me to take it slow and easy just relax. It’s been raining here in N.C. US and what better than to sit with a cup of chai tea and catch up to your videos it’s such a treat to watch you. Thanks for sharing your recipe I can’t waite to try it wish I could smell it from here lol. Lots of hugs.💚💚💚💚💚💚
Looks so homey. And I loved your aerial photo of your allotment that you used at the beginning. And it’s nice to see you sit in the chair at the end...savoring.
Hi Katie another brilliant video. I love the cake, will make it as soon as I have finished my diet. There is nothing like licking the spoon when you are done baking, brings back childhood memories.
I love your videos so much! The drying flowers are so charming and I have a large sized version of that same Mason and Cash bowl. I purchased it years ago after first learning of them while watching Two Fat Ladies (what a terrible name for such a great show). to me, it (and all their similar wares) are quintessentially British and lovely. Heavy, though, so it must have been an effort to get it to the purple potting shed. The drone footage of the plot is lovely. It is nice sometimes to do things by hand. It sometimes seems like it takes longer to wash an electric mixer than to do it by hand, especially if the butter is already softened. As a child, I, too, loved licking the spoon, but now the thought of raw egg just makes me say yuck, lol.
Loved this video. The aerial shots at are lovely so cool getting a birds eye view of the alotment. I'll definatley going to try baking a rhubarb crumble cake x
Helloo! Nice bit of aerial photography at start :-) I was lucky enough to be given 2 crowns a couple of months ago, which are now growing nicely, no where near as big as the plant you picked from though, I look forward to trying this recipe :-) Great video
I've grown rhubarb most of my life And I'm still obsessed with it! This spring I've enjoyed making Rhubarb Breakfast Cake (as muffins) from a recipe I've pinned on Pinterest. I also made and froze some puree out of extra to make lots Rhubarb Vinegarette this summer. I always say - you can never have too much rhubarb! (Or blueberries :) )
Hi Marie, I diced it and simmered it with a little water and then froze it for future use... No sweetener... Then you can use the puree in any vinegarette recipe. I'm sorry I can't find the blog I found it in I know it had vinegar, mustard and olive oil. I hope you find a recipe you love :)
I loved this! Going to make the crumble but will have to replace the rhubarb with a fruit. Apple for instance. No rhubarb around here! (Argentina). Your shed is so flipping cute! Thanks for sharing it. Have a lovely week Katie. xx
Not to be critical because I love you and your blog/vlog but if you'd cut lower on the knife, as in the widest point of the knife, it would go faster and easier. I've been making a cake like this for years and it is great. Thanks for sharing all this.
I wish you would post the recipe. I would love to see more on growing Rhubarb. The variety I have grows leaves as large as Elephant ears, and shoots up some thing in the middle at the beginning of the growing season. Mine, are mostly green with a little red. I wasn't sure if I had to wait for them to turn red before I picked them. But, I picked them and cooked and they were okay.
i love rhubarb crumble cake! i am wondering about your drying camomile though, im picking the flowers of the stalks before drying, is there a benefit from drying as a whole plant? (im a first time gardener and like to learn).also is there blackfly on them or an other little critter?
Lovely video, very homely! Can l just say, l don't understand why your calling it a cake! Where l come from its just called a rhubarb crumble. Gin - Almost Homestead you had me at rhubarb vinegarette! Sounds amazing. Is the pureé sweetened, raw or cooked?
