    I am so happy to see a young person interested in gardening, foraging and doing things the old fashioned way. Also, I absolutely love your "potting shed" come allotment kitchen. It is lovely. Keep up the good work.

    Beautiful video...a good tip is to use an "afro-comb" when picking elderberries, the comb makes it a lot easier to separate the berries from the twigs and stems

    Love your channel! You’re very creative and very confident. I think you are a great example as to how a human being should behave.
    BTW, you remind me a lot of kirsten Dunst. God bless you.
    P.S. looking forward to more videos. Thank you for showing us how to build a frog 🐸 pond, I’m making one, I had slugs last year in my raised beds.

      Thank you so much and I would never call myself confident, I'm so shy you wouldn't believe it! I guess I'm just so passionate about my allotment :) But honestly, thank you so much for this comment, it's made my day and have fun with your pond

    Welcome back, it's good to see you again! Thank you for the informative video. Hopefully you won't need to use it, but it's nice to have it on hand in case you do. I'll have to go foraging to see if I can find any elderberries growing near me.

    So happy to see you again!!! I hope you had nice summer!!!
    About elderberries sirop, This is the first time that I see how to make it, what I did few years ago, it was a huge success, before the winter I took all the raspberries, cleaned them, put them in a sterilised glass jar, add sugar till it cover the berries, continue to do it few times, then let it sit there, it become a pure alcohol of raspberries this is huge help in the winter if you have a cold etc.

    • @Foodielaura
      @Foodielaura 8 лет назад +1

      That sounds amazing and I have plenty of rasps on hand too :)

    • @beckyezra1
      @beckyezra1 8 лет назад +1

      Be aware, I dont cook it at all only put it to ferment.

      Thank you Becky, It's been a little hectic with work and Wales etc but I'm trying to squeeze allotment time in. Wow that sounds interesting! I've heard about making flavoured gin and vodka etc but this is amazing!

    That's really inspired me me I'm suffering with flu at the moment but I do find and that elderberry and echinacea tea bags are quite helpful I have cut down on sugar quite a lot lately does it matter what type of sugar you use and can you make other things with elderberries

  • @MrMush78

    Evening Katie could you put some syrup in a glass and add say lemonade just as a nice cold drink ??

    • @oldorchardgarden
      @oldorchardgarden  8 лет назад +2

      You can use it like a cordial, on ice cream etc I haven't tried it yet though :)

  • @ladyg1931
    @ladyg1931 8 лет назад +2

    I can't seem to find any this year. Humans or birds must be getting there before me. I'm going to order some dried off Amazon to make some syrup this year.
    Last cold I had I bought a bottle of syrup and did shots of it several times a day. My cold lasted less than three days! And I'm usually the sort of person who keeps a cold, it lingers for weeks.
    Now I know why my mom always made jelly and syrup for winter use. :)

    • @oldorchardgarden
      @oldorchardgarden  8 лет назад

      I was the same with cherry plums, we think someone noticed that we were foraging them and beat us to it this year! A lovely story about the cold though, I'm hoping I don't get one but glad I have this on hand to try. Elderberry jelly sounds divine!
