Oh Katie I think you have found your calling. So happy to follow your allotment journey. Wishing you and family a wonderful holiday. Don't be gone for long.....
Sage is a small shrub , The basket may not have enough space for it... my last sage was alone in a 12" pot and lasted for years.... Winter 2010 did for it! Your plot and updates are delightful I wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas!
I'm hoping that the plants won't grow too big and that the baskets will contain them to a smaller size, if not then I will re-pot them :) Thank you so much and a very merry Christmas to you too
Lovely video Katie. That was the most relaxing half an hour I've had for weeks. I'm starting to feel a bit guilty that I don't have Christmas lights on my greenhouse but I'll get over it soon... that's me over it, see, I told you it wouldn't take long. You've got those frogs pretty spoiled. Best Wishes, Brendan.
baconsoda Thank you so much Brendan. Haha! Don't worry, I don't leave the lights up when I'm not there, it's only because I'm stupid enough to be up there when it gets dark and a little light helps a great deal :) The frogs are indeed spoilt but they don't give me any appreciation, I haven't seen them in ages so they are either hiding in the pond, relaxing in their hotel or they have moved on! Have a lovely Christmas
Hi Katie, just wanted to share that the chives are perennial so if they die back this winter, they should pop back up come spring. You probably know that already but just wanted to mention it.
Thank you for the advice, we have some at home which I cut back last year but I rather stupidly brought another plant for the allotment when I could have seperated the one in the garden! Silly me :)
Thank you Vivian, I'm so unbelieveable excited! Only 2 months left until I can get the chicks! Fingers crossed you can get some of your own soon, if not then you can always come and visit mine :)
The frog hotel is super cute. Looking forward to seeing the grapes come on next year too. I tagged you in a Christmas dinner tag video, maybe next year if you are all scheduled up. Have a great Christmas.
Thank you Laura, either the frogs are relaxing in the hotel or they are moved on because I haven't seen one in ages! I did see the tag and thank you so much for thinking of me, I've just been so busy this year and left the gift making until last minute again, I never learn :) Have a lovely Christmas x
Don't worry, the lights don't stay up when I'm not there, I nailed some hooks onto the shed so I can easily take them down and put them up when needed :)
Rosemary and sage thrive in arid landscapes. I have had good luck with them just growing them together like you, only in large tubs, but small enough so you can get them in during frosts. Good luck!
Thank you Angela, I do love this time of year, any excuse to decorate! Sometimes it snows here, it didn't snow last year but the year before we had snow 3 times that year and it stayed around for weeks! Have a great Christmas x
Yay you got a lot of frogs in the pond! When you plant your gherkins, you may want to give them a lot more room in the sun and a larger trellis, you can get loads of them like you would courgettes! I was wondering if the cranberries would die, as they are a bog plant and hanging baskets get notoriously dry from the airflow all around them. Great video thanks for sharing :) -Lisa
I was very surprised at the amount of frogs in the pond too and so happy that it attracted that many and gave them all homes! Thanks for your advice, unfortunately my allotment is so small that I just don't have the room, also it's only me and my Dad that like gherkins so a small amount is perfect for our bellies :) You were so right about the cranberries and I wish I did more research when I brought them last year, I think I just got caught up in the excitment of getting my allotment. Thank you and have a lovely Christmas x
Hi Katie, I live in America. and our winter season can be as early as Nov - to Mid April of the next year. It can get down to the low 20's F. and sometimes 15 / 10 degrees F. It seems odd you can grow herbs in December. I thought the UK had very cold winters that froze every garden thing: And perrenial go dormant like Grapes or Fruit Trees:Could you explain then when you actually get winter and for how long and how low. the temps can go down to please. Also What is the general mixture of Compost made of ? Or is it like a seed starting mix that you put grit wit ? Lot of questions ! Thanks, and I love your garden. Hope your Grape vine is for edible grapes if not you should deffinitly have two kinds. One for Jam. Concord is awesome. / and one for eating.:

Nice video Katie, The only thing wrong with then Xmas lights are, They tend to attract the thieves...
Don't worry, the lights don't stay up when I'm not there, I nailed some hooks onto the shed so I can easily take them down and put them up when needed :)
Really enjoyed the video. Your shed is so cute and will be hoping for great growth on the grapevine.

That's got to be the cutest little shed I've ever seen. Love the way you decorate! Do you all get snows there in your area?

have a marry Christmas and a gd new year 2
I left flower pots on their side in my garden in a grassy area and the frogs used those to hide in.
Good job, Katie, looking forward to see your update video. Did your Bee House attract bees? Gene
Hello Gene and Thank you. Unfortunately I made the bee hotel a tad too late so it didn't attract any, fingers crossed for next year though :)

Where did the electricity for the lights come from? Have you got a solar setup or a battery array setup there?
The lights are powered by AA batteries, theres no electricity or solar panels here I'm afraid :)
Those french work coats you showed on Instagram are selling on ebay for at least $50 and some are selling for hundreds of dollars. So expensive!
I think they may be older and more vintage ones on Ebay. I don't think the ones I brought are very old at all but they still look the same :)
i waiting for new Christmas 2016
