      @@borisdaogWhat did you use to teach yourself? I'm in band and didn't really care about learning guitar, but I started listening to some music and was like "damn that shit is fucking cool" so I wanted to learn it, whether it's bass, regular guitar, or both. I have musical talent except when it comes to singing so I should be able to do alright, but definitely not this good

      Ward Dewulf it's not so hard to do that fast scales in metal genres. Every metal guitar player can play like that in few years, so just wait. I dont think you need 10 years to be like the guy in the video, usually, that skill can be reached a lot before. I started playing that way after 5 years. Nowadays, after 10 years, I can do a lot more than that. So, don't be scared and improve.

  • @EricSiegfriedt
    @EricSiegfriedt 6 лет назад +1

    Hey! Thanks to people like you who post progress videos like this, I've been even more inspired to pick up my guitar and practice. Sometimes it feels like I'm getting nowhere when only comparing myself to the last day I practiced, which is even worse on a "bad day" cause you feel like you're slowly un-learning the guitar. But when I compare myself to how I was in a recording a year ago, it gives me a moral boost to just keep practicing. I didn't even realize I went from being unable to play a 3 string arpeggio slowly to playing more complex arpeggio chords on all 6 strings at decent speed in half a year, until I found a recording of my progress when I started. I encourage everybody who plays an instrument to do the same as this guy, it really helps!!
    Great playing!

      You can find the backing tracks here on RUclips, depending on what key you want to improvise/play on. I learned by watching RUclips videos of them (zakk, kirk, etc) playing ^^

    He must have practiced 8 hours a day every day to improve that much in a years time not to mention the 10 years. After about two or three years you can't tell the difference between year 4 and year 10 meaning that he's already good in the 4th year or as good as the 10th year.

    What steps did you take to get to this level of playing? What kinds of things did you practice and how and what not?

    • @borisdaog
      @borisdaog  6 лет назад +20

      It mostly takes perseverance and discipline, having a strict routine of practice. One day legato, next day tapping, etc. It depends how much effort and how far do you want to take your playing to. There will be bad days, but the trick is to keep going. Paul Gilbert lessons (you can find them here on RUclips) helped me too! ^^

      BDOguitar thank you for the reply and advice. Because right now I just try to learn songs I like. But that only gets me so far. I want to learn more but I wouldn't really know where to go from there.

    You gave me a lot of motivation anyway! Thank you for posting this moive.

    How would you suggest getting to a level where I would be able to shred and learn entire complex songs? I’m kind of stuck at a plateau

    • @borisdaog
      @borisdaog  6 лет назад

      Try with Paul Gilbert lessons/licks (you can find them here on RUclips) and start slowly building up speed with those exercises. My Instagram is borisdaog, so if you need help with something let me know!

    • @borisdaog
      @borisdaog  6 лет назад

      No problem!! I would recommend the Canon Rock chord progression (you can find the backing track here on RUclips). With it you can build a sweep and tapping progression. Over time that will help you ^^
