Hey man idk if this is your situation at all but if you often find yourself scrolling on the phone or just wasting time on whatever make it so everytime u notice that u just pick up the guitar instead. I’ve played for 7 years but only the first 3 or so was I really progressing and learning & in just the past few months I’ve been playing a few hours a day and have gotten noticeably better! Pick songs that are a bit scary like for me rn it’s the master of puppets solo it looks scary but once you break the licks down slowly you’ll be shocked what you’re capable of. Also, something I heard forever ago that has helped me a lot is practice before u go to bed. I can’t tell u how many times I fumbled through a riff for hours only to wake up and play it perfect first try

One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on YT. I think it’s pretty cool that you had the same room for several years. That’s a good stable foundation in itself.
This is sick. Unlike myself, you went straight to the heavy stuff. I started playing back in 2006, and spent almost 10 years jamming to classic rock before starting to learn stuff from bands like Pantera, Trivium, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, etc. My guitars haven't been in standard tuning since. I feel like If I'd dove into the things you were playing sooner, I'd be alot farther ahead than I am now.
Thanks dude. I needed to see this today. Sometimes I get down and feel like I’m just going nowhere but seeing people who just kept doing the thing gives me hope that maybe one day I can get there too.

I seriously started learning the guitar last year at 24. Late, I know, I unfortunately couldn't afford it as a child/teenager. I've hit a lot of roadblocks so far, one of which, very recently. But I'm here seeing someone that has a lot in common with me in those beginner days, one of those things being coming straight up guns blazing, no fucks given playing metal like there's no tomorrow. You, sir, reminded me that no matter what, consistency is key and I would like to thank you for that. Someday I'm going to be as good of a player as you are.
My situation is like yours except I'm 25. Looking for a pretty electric guitar that is left-handed is hard, so I ended up customizing it with the neck and pickups. I've always wrote poems in elementary school, but I feel like playing will help me compose.
I feel so guilty. Been playing for 10 years, and I'm barely equivalent to your 4 years level... Good practice is the most important thing ! Well done dude !
This is really inspiring to see. You can see the progress, the breaking of bad playing habits, the improvement in fretting, picking, and technique. You've grown into a riffing beast, man!

ABR Everlasting Ending at 2:30, one of my favorite rhythm riffs ever and imo best solo ever written for an ABR song by the one and only Paul Waggoner (done live by Dustin Davidson) Hell of a video of your progression, well done dude
I am also a self taught player and started when you did because of rocksmith. I go back and forth between playing and not because I am too hard on myself and I just need to pick my guitar back up again. Thank you, sir. You are my inspiration to continue playing and getting better. I remember looking at videos I’ve recorded years ago of difficult solos that I was able to play, and I get discouraged when I pick my guitar up and not able to play them anymore (or pick back up on them as quickly) because of a wrist injury.
I went straight to rock when I began teaching myself, Eddie Van Halen inspired me the most, this is an awesome video of a learning journey not often spoken of by others
I'm a little over two years into playing guitar and I'm nowhere near your skill at that point. This video is mental and I feel so much more inspired to learn. This was awesome to watch!
Amazing progression, I wish everyone who want to play the guitar or any instrument really. That it takes hard work and dedication, struggling with shitty equipment and your own limitations. Having breakthroughs getting better at your craft and upgrading your equipment. It's a journey that lasts your entire life. Amazing job.
You learned the same riffs that I learned. All classic, good feeling and just stress free. Nothing like guitar after a stressfull day. Your progress is much stronger than normal which clearly shows you never gave up and pushed yourself. Props to you dude!
Unbelievable, after 3 years you were better than me, who had been playing for 20 years. I'm now 35 and of course I only play for the joy of music and no longer to get better. It's nice to see how good you can become in a short time if you seem to learn really effectively.
Bravo man, keep up the work. This is the shit people need to see to motivate them to keep on working and putting in the effort. I think people get discouraged who listen to this kinda music when they pick up the guitar and are like WHY DONT I SOUND LIKE THAT. It takes dedication to sound like the songs you listen to. Great video.
Master of Puppets is what got me started, and after 20 years… Master of Puppets is where I’m at :D I hope many kids get inspired by you and make music, because that’s the kind of food that the souls of these times need the most!
I hope young and enthusiastic people will see your progress and find inspiration. I am envious but not just your talent, but more importantly willpower, dedication and discipline to keep practicing.
Dude, the progress is sick. It came fast, too. Been playing over 30 yrs and I never spent enough time practicing and it shows lol. You sir, are awesome and I really enjoyed watching this. Keep it up

Insane to see how much you improved with the finger work on the fret board over time ! Good job man and unreal to see how your personality changed and came out more over the years
Bro as a self taught guitarist myself love seeing people post their progress i started playing nirvana on bass when i was like 15 and went on to tour with bands and i still write music by myself it opens a lot of opportunities.
So I've been playing off and on for about 18 years and honestly bro, solid work. I'm no where near on your level but just watching this might get me back into it again. I picked up my guitar after about 2 years and I've got a lot of work to get where I used to be. One day!
Had to drop the Like and headbang when I saw in dying days, been devoting myself to that song for the past two weeks. I’ve been playing for nearly 2 years and I love to see this as I’m a self taught metalhead as well 🤘
4:22 that sounded clean af bro, I've been playing for 15 years now (on and off) but you clearly learned faster than I did back then, please never ever stop playing and keep rocking !
Great progress brotha. Metal is for everyone, and just by doing these songs, youve got one up on anyone because you now hear notes and keys. That can apply to any music!
You're an inspiration bro. I wasnt seeing the progress and have been struggling to pick the guitar back up. This video gave me the drive to keep going. Rock on man.

i run the @Templemusicacademy if you need any help!
I feel so guilty. Been playing for 10 years, and I'm barely equivalent to your 4 years level... Good practice is the most important thing ! Well done dude !
Same! I started playing like 7 or 8 years ago and I'm not even close, I havent kept up with my practicing nearly enough 😂
I've been playing for 14 years, but I still feel like a beginner
This is really inspiring to see. You can see the progress, the breaking of bad playing habits, the improvement in fretting, picking, and technique. You've grown into a riffing beast, man!
4:00 what’s the song please?
Divided by As Blood Runs Black
Bro be proud of yourself as I am of you!!! I can’t play at all and to see the progress is mind blowing!!!! Rock on my friend, God is good and so are you!!!!
What’s the song on 4:00?
Divided by As Blood Runs Black
ABR Everlasting Ending at 2:30, one of my favorite rhythm riffs ever and imo best solo ever written for an ABR song by the one and only Paul Waggoner (done live by Dustin Davidson)
Hell of a video of your progression, well done dude
DUDE! Very, very, very nice! I love seeing how all of the hard work of grinding away on the axe paid. Right on bro! 🤘
Dang dude, clean from day freaking one! Outstanding! Seriously!
I love remembering to play the cool sounding stuff and getting it right. It's so satisfying.
I’m teaching myself right now and seeing this gives me motivation and shows that it can be done. Awesome video man!
10 years and we still out here playing master of puppets... I feel that poker face at the end
Love this, thanks for sharing - also self taught and you put me to shame very early on in this haha
I love this guy already his song choice are impeccable
Bro this is so fucking dope, you found your sound and you're killing it.
This is everything I love about guitar.
It's awesome that you had the foresight to capture yourself throughout your progress. It's an amazing journey you're on. Keep it up!
thank you so much
Master of Puppets is what got me started, and after 20 years… Master of Puppets is where I’m at :D
I hope many kids get inspired by you and make music, because that’s the kind of food that the souls of these times need the most!
I hope young and enthusiastic people will see your progress and find inspiration. I am envious but not just your talent, but more importantly willpower, dedication and discipline to keep practicing.
Ive been playing for 30 years and you sounded better than i do today at 3 years. You are awesome!! I hope to see you on stage one day!!
Dude, the progress is sick. It came fast, too. Been playing over 30 yrs and I never spent enough time practicing and it shows lol. You sir, are awesome and I really enjoyed watching this. Keep it up
im at the 1 1/2 yr mark and rocksmith was indisposable in the beginning, still think its one of the most innovative and easy ways to view tabs and learn songs
They say he's still in that room to this day....Practicing away. This video is awesome man. I love to see it.
Congrats! You have surpassed the mentality of laziness! I'm still there. I have been playing off and on for the pass 18 years, and still "struggle" with laid to rest. I know I can play, is just practicing. 💪🏽
You can do it!
man this is awesome 10 years of history we get to watch. nice man
Been teaching guitar for 20 years, after 1 year I could tell you were super talented! Loved watching this! Please focus on writing original shit and develop your gift to the musical world!
Dude this song selection fired me up so much. Awesome shreddage too.
I find myself envious of you, but i think you've inspired me to pick it back up, thanks man
Insane to see how much you improved with the finger work on the fret board over time ! Good job man and unreal to see how your personality changed and came out more over the years
Bro as a self taught guitarist myself love seeing people post their progress i started playing nirvana on bass when i was like 15 and went on to tour with bands and i still write music by myself it opens a lot of opportunities.
Rocksmith 2014 is the GOAT. I haven't really practiced my bass playing consistently, but over the years I keep coming back to it.
Any idea on the song? If not, and it’s his own riff then this guy’s talent Is breaking me😅
I don't know but it sounds like some parkway drive stuff@@adamnadin7711
Great progress brotha. Metal is for everyone, and just by doing these songs, youve got one up on anyone because you now hear notes and keys. That can apply to any music!
Dude, great job! I’ve been trying to play for like 25 years and I’m nowhere near this level!! I can play rhythm, but not lead. I want to play lead.
Damn, dude that was epic. Keep on rockin' brother.
You're an inspiration bro. I wasnt seeing the progress and have been struggling to pick the guitar back up. This video gave me the drive to keep going. Rock on man.
Our guitar journey is at about the same spot. Awesome to see brother!
Been playing for 15 years(a couple years on and off not really playing/progressing). I totally regret not practicing more now, but im totally stoked to get back into it
god this is so good. so many memories flooding back
