Nice video - thanks for taking the time to make and post up Damian - very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Great stuff, cheers Damian.
I just needed that video !!
Thank you SO much !!
You're welcome!
This tubes are a great start for doing first macro shots, when I had (because someone stolen my camera backpack returning from Australia in 2016) all of my Canon gears, I used a lot a 100mm f.28L but with my actually X-T1 those tubes are great, metal build bayonet and contacts working perfectly, cheap but good. Keep on.
Thanks Stefano. That lens is awesome to be fair!
Hi Damian, take heart from those who appreciate your efforts! Nice review, been looking at doing some macro work, have the 18mm f2, just bought a macro extension set on ebay, following this review! Thanks bro!
Thanks! Enjoy
How good will it work on the 35mm f2 Fuji?
Thanks heaps for this video. Very much appreciate it
Is it work with my viltrox 33mm F1.4 Prime Lens?
Is JJC macro tube consist of 2 metal side?
hi Damian quick question what camera strap are you using ? keep the vlogs comming
Nice video man...i wanna ask, if this extension combo with raynox 250..it become more closer to subject?
Hi Demian, thanks for this recommendation. I bought this JJC Extension tubes and they are working fine with my FUJIFILM XE3 and all my FUJIFILM lenses.
Great! Thanks :D
Hi Tetiana. May I ask what lenses do you have that you use with the JJC tubes? I'm planning to buy these extension tubes to use with my 35/2.0, 50/20 and the 16/1.4. And I want to find out if there are any problems mounting thse lenses to them? Because I saw online, specifically the Fujicrons, had issues being mounted with MEIKE's extension tube versions. I don't know if JJC also has the same issues. Thank you.
Can i use this in my 14-55mm kitlens?
Nice one bro 😉 (Great Bridge cong) great tip as usual.
Thanks bro, I appreciate the support!
Are they made out of plastic? Will they handle 50-140mm lens?
Cheers Damian. Just stumbled on your Amazon review with a nice set of images too :)
Thanks Nick! I forgot about that review
Just got them and they work perfectly as does the auto focus. Solidly built all metal. really amazed! Thanks Damian for your review! :-)
Brilliant, thanks!
All metal, what about the contacts to the body? They are black a look plastic. I'm interested in buying but not sure for this...
@@juanramirezgarcia5713 Looking closely I can't tell. But all conatcs on all lenses are in hard durable plastic casings attached to the metal mount.
Will it work on fuji 10-24 lens?
Damien, I love your reviews and I appreciate your, down to earth approach. I’ve recently been looking at selling my recently purchased 80 macro and maybe replacing it with the cheaper 60 2.4 coupled with extension tubes. I enjoy macro but I’m a more an occasional macro guy. Still, I’d enjoy having a dedicated macro lens in my kit. The 60 with tubes is still lighter, smaller, and competitive with the 80 beast.
So two things. First, thank you for this very informative review. Secondly and equally important, what song where you playing with this video. Very nice tune.
Thanks again,
Chaps
Thanks! The music will just be something off the youtube audio library, one of the attribution free tracks.
I bought the Meike version adapters and I use them with my old Minolta lenses and they work great :)
Pretty much the same thing, and I STILL need to get some Minolta lenses again.
Another great video - those Yankees on repeat repeat repeat could learn a thing or two. Yep - the gardens are a great spot just don't mess with the bees 😎😎😎
Thanks Mike!! Ye, good job the sign is up, I nearly wandered in... they looked a bit angry to say the least :D
No worries man everything is perfect, sound is fine. I like your practical way of photography. Used tubes like these when I still shot analog with my AV1. Sold my heavy 7D last year, but cannot get the same fun with my g15, although that is a nice camera. But not for macro. T20 & 30 got my interest, next to the Panasonic G7.
Nice one, thanks man!
Does it work with X-E1?
Just found your channel. Love it. Thank you!
Thanks Nick, I appreciate it a lot!
@@DamianBrown pleasure.
Really enjoy it.
Took the plunge with these tubes but alas they don't work. Can't get autofocus it even manual focus to work in Mt X-T2 or X-T10 with my 60mm "macro". Sending back and hopefully it's just a dud set.
So. I'm a total idiot! Expected these to work like a converter....doh. Know what I'm doing now 😊
fantastic video thank you!
Thanks!
What about the contacts to the body, is it plastic or metal? The black color looks plastic...
Hey Damian, great video. I've been thinking about getting these extension tubes for a while but no one did a video to review them so held back. Also, the Zeiss Touit 50mm f2.8 for the X mount does true 1:1 macro! Yeah it's a little pricey but It's really versatile and it's a great prime for outdoor shooting as it's fast and lightweight too. I own it but I just placed an order for the JJC Extension Tubes anyway!
Nice one Harpinder, you'll have to let us know how it goes!! That lens does look cool tho :D
I got this as well, quite cheap around $50 aud, the result is not bad.
I have these.....they're great, good to see a review of them! Hopefully you'll help people save money and not spend 5 x the price unnecessarily for the Fuji versions.
Yes indeed Gillian! Thanks a lot :)
Hello Damian, I have bought the JJC extension tubes for my XT-20, but the 16mm ring doesnt work and I dont know why, 11 mm works perfect, but not together with the 16mm, and as I have said 16mm doesnt work alone neither. Do I have to set something in the menu?. Thank you. Veronica
Hey, that's weird. Is it with a particular lens? Of course there are lenses that are incompatible but I think you've checked this. I didn't change anything in the menu to be honest.
There's a chance it's faulty if all that is no good. I expect they'll send a fresh set no problem. I hope so!
Hi Damian, thanks for the chart link. You can get these extensions for various prices from eBay. The Pixco Auto Focus Macro Extension Tube Adapter for Fujifilm mount is about £17 and works brilliantly.
Thanks Dave!
Thanks for the video! Just thinking about buying a macro lens, but now I guess I will give it a try with this stuff. Is the list of lenses just an example, or do lenses not listed here not work with this product? I am interested in the 50mm/F2. Thx!
I haven't tried any other lenses :( Hopefully somebody who has can answer and tell us
One quick question, as mine are on their way. Can you change the working distance a bit or are you stuck to a very finite distance?
You can a bit. This is focused as close as it can to get 1:1 Macro
I like using 90mm with 16mm tube. Works great for larger bugs and flowers
but you have to keep your shutter speed high since it does not have OIS
Hey, Damien. Great vid. Question: how would they work with the Samyang 12mm f2? Or any 50mm f1.8? Thanks
I think the 12 is too wide, a 50 is worth a try. I'll get back to you all being well!
thanks damian..how about of we use this product combo with raynox dcr250?it works?
If I get my hands on one again I'll take a look. I had the older raynox somewhere
I have the 80mm macro and I’m thinking about getting tubes to get even high magnification
Why not!
Thanks for this Damian! Does the auto focus work well? I only have the 35mm f/1.4, 56 f/1.2 and the 90mm f/2.0. I suspect they all work ok with these adapters?
Ye autofocus worked for me! It should work fine with those lenses, take a look at the chart to see what you'll get out of those lenses www.fujifilm.eu/fileadmin/countries/europe/pressimages/DSC/Nov2014/MCEX-table.png
Thank you Damian!
Ordered the couple of tubes.
Have to you also tried it on the 56mm f1.2? If you did can you share some results? Thanks.
I'll have a look, I can remember now :)
works perfectly with my 56mm f1.2 and even my 16mm 1.4 (11mm only) and my 23mm f1.4. saved me much from the original. yes it is half metal half plastic mount but i think it durable enough for my primes. haven't tried it on other bigger zoom lenses.
Just bought the tubes for my 56 1.2. Any tips to get the best out of it? 11 or 16 or both? thanks
@@neoterixx3440 did you already get the answer?
@@ikhwansafwan9314 no answer. Even forgot about it 😅
Does the focus stacking bracket setting work when using these extension tubes?
I think so yes
Damian, your camera set on Aperture mode. you said Manual mode ? very good video and lesson anyway :), thank you
Hi Damien, i wonder is that good to start with kit XF18-55mm and extension tube 10-16mm?
I need to test it, the chart suggests it will work.
Use both tubes together with the 18-55mm at 55mm and you can get damn close.
Good review Damian. I have these tubes and they work well with the 18-55 and the 50-230. Also great with all my old legacy lenses. Damian is there any chance you can get you hands on the 7artisans lenses (7.5, 12, 25, 35, 50)? Especially the 12mm f2.8 (£136 on EBay) and 35mm f1.2 (£106 on EBay).
Hi Russ: do you have examples of shots with the tubes + the 18-55 and 50-230? While i can afford to buy the Fuji 80mm - i am not a fan as it is HUGE and weighs well over a pound (no wonder you need OIS on this lens!) So now am on the hunt for a smaller, lighter alternatives for sharp close-ups.
Damian - maybe you have some examples?
Hey Russ, do you have some example shots from the two lenses? Could you please share? Thank you.
Thanks for a great video Damian, i was sooooo close to buying the 16mm fuji version. I think I'll try this one first.
Not a lot to lose!
Can you stack the two extension tubes and get more magnification or does this not work?
Yes
Works well but you get less working focus area.
I got mine for 170aed! Perfect!
From where did u purchase ? And which lens ur using it with. Thanks
So I could not use the 16mm on my xf16mm right?
The chart that comes with it these is updated over the fujifilm chart and shows that with the 16mm 1.4, the 11mm will get you 0.91x (compared to the lens only 0.21 max magnification but it's greyed out for 16mm extension.
The 16mm extension won't shoot with either the 16mm 1.4 or 14mm 2.8 lenses - ideally i'd have mentioned that in the vid!
Thanks. Vy useful video.👍
Thanks, got another macro video coming out soon about the meike tubes
@@DamianBrown looking forward.
awesome - thanks for video
Anytime man :)
I bought the extensions at your recommendation, and I tried it yesterday and today again only to find that it does not work. My x-t20 cannot focus, always blur. I do not know what wrong it is. Can you help me? I use 18-55mm and 1.4mm f2.8 both
That's not good :( The 14mm shouldn't work with the 16mm one, how is it with the 11mm? The 18-55, according to the chart, should work fine. I'll have to try it on my 18-55 because as you can see I tried it on the 18mm f2 and it was fine.
If I come up with something I'll comment back but hopefully somebody will beat me to it!
Have you start focusing on f8 ?
DOF is very shallow. And full zoom in on bigger focal length, 55mm its work on me.
Alan, I have used similar non fuji macro tubes with the 18-55mm and it should work, Better using 55mm. Make sure contacts are in line (I was able to mate the adapters incorrectly so the contacts were not in line) and there is only a small focal range where auto focus works. Try moving the camera back and forth until part of the picture is in focus without using autofocus.
I'm using it with the 18 55 f2 4. With both tubes you need to zoom all the in to make it work. Then get very close.
question: can you change the aperture on the 18-55 through the camera body ( while connected with the extension tubes? ). Asking because the 18-55 zoom doesn't have aperture control on the lens itself. thanks
Does the focus bracketing work when using these tubes? I saw that the question has been posted again but there was no definite answer...Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
did you mean . does the auto focus on lenses works when using this? yes. I just got mine.
@@edbertcadavero14 actually no. The focus bracketing is a very particular feature as it takes photos in succession by changing the focus point by a fraction, so I was worried that such adapters wouldn’t be up to the task. Anyway, I got one and it seems it works, though not as smoothly as when such an adapter is not connected between the lens and camera. I had to send mine back though as it really degraded the image quality. I made my tests with the 60mm f2.4 (which is a really sharp lens). I guess almost any adapter that goes between a lens and a camera has some loss of quality or other. On the upside, usual autofocus operation works ok.
@@nehaanil2189 Maybe you did not use the specific adapter for you lens. theres a matches between your lenses on 18mm below and above against the adapters 11mm & 16mm. buy anyway you already have you 60mm macro which is a good lens
too
Can you combine the both tubes?
Yes, depending on the lens .
Like your vids Damian, My macro set up for For Fujl, Nikon to Fuji converter then Nikon PK3 ext tube (or any make about 27 mm) Nikon x 52 mm reversing ring. to Nikon 55mm f3.5 Ai micro lens. This will give you super macro 2:1 you can go even further with more tubes. The results are excellent. True it is manual focus but no problem most macro togs focus by moving the camera. I bought the above parts from ebay and amazon total cost was under £90.00. and it has bigger performance than Fuji's 80mm macro. I have this bolted to a battered XE-2 that was cheap from ebay too. Great set up. I am a full time wedding tog shooting weddings on 2 XT-2 bodies and primes. Love the Fuji kit, files and quality.
Love the set up! Thanks for sharing
This is great information. I've used a reverse ring on my nikon for 7 years and now wish to switch to a Fiji X t2 and have been search for a way to continue to take dew drop photos. Are you saying I can still use extension tube on my nikon and attach the lens to a converter. Would love your confirmation please. Thanks heaps
@@avawhetton1713From camera Nikon converter extension tubes just cheap ones I used a nikon pk13 you could use two but better to get a cheap set. Then the reversing ring to the lens. I have used this set up on XT2 XT1 XE2 and XPRO 1 & 2 works great on all of them manual focus only.
@@peterknight285 really appreciate your help. I'm excited to try this out. Thanks heaps
Hi Peter. Can you send me some pictures that you took with this combination? Thanks.
Just bought a set of these JJC extension tubes and the 16mm one is defective, it won't lock in place on my Fujifilm X-T2 or X-E1 Returning them for a refund. It appears their QC is not that good - QC tag said inspected by # 8 2018-1
Hmm not good, have they offered a replacement?
What lens can be used on this extension one?
There's a number of fuji lenses that it works with, there's a pdf online with the compatibility and macro capabilities per lens.
how to select a macro extension tube? i have so long wanted to try macro photography but I don't want to invest on macro lens yet, ive got to try first. It seems like the cheaper alternative for me is to use macro extension tube. I have XT10-15-45mm kit lens. what macro extension tube can I use?
This cheap set will do
If you look at this chart you can see the effect www.wexphotovideo.com/webcontent/pdf/fuji/Fuji-Macro-Extension-Tube-Table.pdf
@@DamianBrown wow thanks a lot! 😍😍😍
Hi. I bought a cheap set of macro extension rings. They came with no instructions at all. Although they fit the Fuiji mount, they do not have the little brass connectors and the camera will just not take a picture, when any of the rings are attached. Have I wasted. my money, or is there any way of making these work with the Fuiji XT3? Any help would be much appreciated.
the camera will pick it up as there being no lens attached. Have to change a setting to let it fire under those conditions. "go to the Set Up in the main menu. Then look for the shoot without lens function under the Button/Dial setting sub-menu, and click On. In some models, this is located under the Shooting setting main menu, in the Mount Adapter section"
As Pieter said, set "shoot without lens" in the menus :)
Thanks guys. That worked. What I still cannot do is bracketing with the rings installed. Never mind - I’ll use them occasionally. As I said, they were very cheap!!
There's a menu setting 'shoot without lens' for this.
Will it work with the 35mm f2 from fuji?
Anybody tried it? It's not on the chart
@Damian Brown Mechanically yes but I had sharpness issues. The f/1,4 works fine though as does the 18-55
90F2 can use this ?
Good question, can't see it on the chart bit.ly/2zdXyQB but it is an old chart!
Are they full metal? Because one amazon review said they are plastic but some comments here say its full metal
Body is made by ABS, the bayonet connection part is made by aluminium with gilt contacts
Weird question: will this give a manual focus lens AF capability? Or does the lens have to have AF capability to begin with?
It won't give a lens AF capability, that would be amazing though.
@@DamianBrown gotcha cause I've seen those AF adapters also so I thought this would do the same thing. Thanks Damian!
The kit 15 to 45 is not listed, is it comparable?
Good question, anybody tried it?
I have a same Q though, really wonder if they works on the kit lens though
Hello, does it work with all Fuji XF lenses ? I4ve heard that I could have problems with non Fuji Rings with Fuji WR lenses ?
Is it true ?
Best regards
There's a list to show the compatibility and effect.
@@DamianBrown ok. Thx
Hi damian, will this work on a 35mm f2 and 18-55?
Yes but the 35mm f/2 isnt great on extension tubes. The 18-55 works well though. The 55-200 on both is very good for shy butterflies etc
@@srennielsen9141 Hi. Curious though as to why you think the 35/2.0 isn't great with extension tubes as I have a 35/2.0 and I'm planning to buy extension tubes to use with it along with the 50/20 and the 16/1.4. Also is there any problem mounting to 35/2.0 and other fujicron lenses like the 50/2.0, 16/2.8, 23/2.0? Saw online these have issues being mounted with Meike's Fuji extension tube versions. I don't know if JJC also has the same issues. Thank you.
@@nathanielngosy Hi Nathaniel. My results were unsharp using an extension tube. The 18-55 on the other hand did well. I can highly recomend the 65mm Laowa for macro though admittedly thats a huge jump in price from extension tubes which are also great with the telezooms, 55-200 and 100-400mm for close ups of e.g. butterflies.
@@nathanielngosy Re mounting. I had no problems with a third party tube but ended up getting the fujis since i didnt trust the plastic with my heavy 100-400mm
Hi Damian, thanks for the info & your videos. I was wondering if there is a lens kit like this for a fujifilm XT-1 camera 📷? Would you be able to help me find a affordable lens I just got the camera but I do t have any lenses yet & don’t want to spend 700 bucks on a 35mm lens just yet. Thanks
Try the 18-55 on the second hand market, it's a pretty cool lens!
Will it work with my fuji 35mm 1.4 lens?
same Question did u find out answer ?
bit.ly/2zdXyQB - It should do
bit.ly/2zdXyQB
Thanks Damian looks like I'll have to fork out the 1250 for the 80 as I cant find any proper reviews on the samyang macro.
I'm trying the 80mm lens out tomorrow all being well, but hopefully i'll shoot more than just macro... just because :) But having looked at it before I'm pretty confident and at that price I'd hope so!
Damian Brown thanks I have the 90 and love it but a 1to1 macro floats my boat, looked at the samyang but im love fuji glass and the ois
Do these extension tubes convert any lens to macro lens?
Most Fuji X lenses will offer better close focusing with this, some true macro properties others not so macro but definitely better.
With extension tubes the shorter the focal lenght the greater the effect. Untill you reach the limit.
@@srennielsen9141 So my F1.4 35mm lens will give good shots?
@@raghucares Good shots depends on you not your lens 😅 Yes it will, my f/1,4 focusses closer than my f/2 and is sharper wide open and on f/4 (the two settings i quickly tried for confirmation on 27mm tubes) downside is a bit more chromatic....
@@srennielsen9141 you can get bad photos with good equipment but you can't get good photos with the wrong equipment!
Sorry men, but I cannot find the way how to make i workable with X-E3 & 23mm/f2.

@@nathanielngosy Hi, exactly! I'm not sure why. I doesn't fit. But I bought a genuine Fujifilm MCEX reduction and it's ok. But for macro, there are better options - 7Artisans 60mm. Very cheap and much better, I mean. Have a nic day, Nathaniel!
@@marceljanik3679 I see. Might as well skip my intentions on purchasing these JJC extension tubes then just to be sure. Thank you.

@@John1986ATR Hi John. The link showed up empty. Curious though as to what brand you bought that had issues with your lenses. Also I'm interested to know what Fuji lenses you're using with the JJC ext tubes? Would that include the lenses I have--16/2.0, 35/2.0, 50/2.0? It's because I want to know if any of them have mounting issues with the JJC as I heard that the Meike ext tubes brand had especially with the fujicrons. Thank you.
Be nice to see this on the 90mm f2 it mite save me the £1250 for the 80mm macro
It should get you 0.4x max magnification compared to 0.2 lens only. Have a look at this chart www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/accessories/pdf/mcex_01.pdf
The laowa 60mm ultra macro is stunning on the X-T2 if you want 2:1 magnification.
That would be a sweet lens to try out!!
Why would a person wear a tie to take a picture of a leaf
This is a fine question.
Better than the other way around
It would superb if u can compare it side by side with fuji ext tube🤭✌🏻 sharpness, etc. try dead insects as the objects
Good idea
In india it cost more than twice what is mentioned.
Pity :(
I have a set made by Eachshot, pretty much the same thing but the set has a 10mm instead of the 11mm for whatever reason. The Eachshot ones are plastic and very light, but they work just fine. The set you have looks better quality. I use mine with the 35mm 1.4 mostly, but with both stacked you have hardly any working distance. With just the 16mm you get pretty decent results and AF is quick, I go MF for spiders and bugs though. I shot these tiny mushrooms using that combination just yesterday: www.flickr.com/photos/cagey75/26192522149/in/dateposted-public/
Meant to say the other day, love the shots mate!
Only 30 squid
Now Damian, what good does a tripod do when the leaf is shaking so much? Come on, you are better than that.
I always use a tripod when using extension tubes. Subject moving is one thing, but the camera needs to be completely steady.
too much talking. Just get on with it
E Miff 🤔
you talk too much
