What did you use as the white base that the soap sits on?

It’s 3/4” plywood that has a maple veneer. I painted it with a high gloss enamel paint and then a clear varnish to make sure it would be easy to wipe clean.

I bought this particular brand - however - I used B-strings because they seemed like an appropriate gauge for cutting soap (and they have been working well so far) but I don't see them listed as an option any longer. I don't think the particular brand will matter too much but I do recommend you use B-strings since they seem thin enough to pass through the soap without too much resistance, and they are also thick enough so as to not break too easily.
