I was digging fence post in the Pocono’s when I was 17 with a buddy of mine full throttle with a two man auger , we hit a tire under the ground at 3/4’ in the ground and the clutch didn’t let go but my buddy did!!! Screwed up my elbow and it’s been hurting for 25 years now !! They will tear you up lol
Buy my corner marker is 500 yards on the side of the mountain, i dont have enough cord. Put a COPY in the tube and Keep the Original paperwork at home, you may need to replace it from time to time. Put your paperwork in a Ziploc bag in case it rains.
Thanks for sharing. This is the way I've done it for decades & taught others. NOTE: Placer only gives you the right to what is loose on top of solid rock, lode only gives you rights to what is solidly attached not float. You have to fence your active operations with signage to prosecute trespassing, AND the posts have to have been placed and marked not just some map mailed in saying the people you claimjumped removed your posts. You cant put a placer over an existing lode claim or a location marker on already claimed ground. If somebody loses a claim you are across, you have to refile a new map once the ground is open to claim to have it. 30% of America in Federal hands by 2030 is motivation to get while the getting is good. The state laws are in addition to the Federal Laws that are basically keeping a record of it all. Some states DO require county paper filings yearly to remain valid.
Also wanted to add that our county still requires you to file with them, or your claim is not valid, according to the Forest Service. BLM says you don't need to file with the county, but county says yes you do. They all like the money generated.Part of keeping our money in circulation plan.
Some people think they can file a placer claim in any orientation they want. However, they must actually follow the aliquot grid system and describe it under PLSS on the paperwork. SO MANY people file thier claims improperly 🙄 Jolly good episode Sonny Jim ! ⛏⛏👍👍
🙄. It SHOULD NOT be this difficult imo. And with FEDERAL GOVT being a SCAM now a days = hopefully some of these “procedures” can be simplified with the only requirement being the part where you file the claim with the LOCAL recording offices…… but very informative information, THANK YOU for laying it out so well 🍻
That’s true that a claim must follow the PLSS grid, if the federally managed land has been officially surveyed. If not surveyed, a claim can be located via metes and bounds in any orientation provided it follows the size rules.
11:55 “I didn’t know there was a claim here” LOL. Like TVR exploring did on my claims. He just posted a video a few days ago. I got signs and locked gates. Signs were ignored and gate locks cut! I was furious! He actually kinda apologized, but still, they saw the signs and gates and CHOSE to go past anyway. My mines have sentimental value to me, on top of gold. My mentor Tim Fadda died in my arms there. I promised him, I would carry on his work and reopen the mine. Or die trying. I hope to meet you someday and swap stories. I could learn a lot more from you. Excellent video! Merry Christmas! Take care!
Signs and gates don't mean much, because so many mines are abandoned that still have those in place. My area is all lead mines..the lead companies from the 1880s STILL operate..just not in my area since the 60s. The only signs or gates are at the main facility..30miles away. But they own the land under my house/town still for mineral rights. I saw that video as well, and i would have guessed abandoned as well because it just looks like it. The entrance wasn't closed off with a signs...i mean kinda of easy.
@@Dranzerk8908 respectfully, you are wrong regarding TVR’s video. He didn’t show you the signs or locked gates in his video, how convenient. The locked gate was just past the portal entrance.
Wow !!!! really sorry to hear that ....would love to swap stories with you some day ... let us know what we can do to help you get that mine back up and running
@@Askjeffwilliams Thanks Jeff! How about reposting your “timbering series” videos? The portal on my mine has since collapsed due to rotting and weak timbers. My plan is to rebuild the portal first, then refresh the mine. If you are interested, I would love to show you my mines. I would love to learn more about timbering and working underground. I would be interested in helping you out as well with your mine. Just let me know. I hope you never get anyone coming onto your claims and poking around without permission. It really gets one’s blood boiling! Take Care!
When you are at your counties office, look thru their land books and you can find patented claims and if you know how you can find out the owner of them. Patented claims now pay taxes on them to the county and you can check and see if the taxes are up to date.
I’ll be rewatching this video for sure, planning on filing my first lode claim in near future for Arizona. After watching sunny Jim’s videos on claims, I’m confident I’ll be successful. Thanks Jeff
I have a Ryobi 40V electric auger. No need for a generator. I took it out in the desert and started making a hole and nearly ripped my arm off when it his a rock. I recommend the electric auger because I had originally bought a gas unit. I had problems running it in different areas because if the altitude is too high, the carb jets don't like it and it doesn't want to run. The battery powered Ryobi doesn't have this problem. There are plenty of videos of the unit demoed on RUclips. I couldn't find a negative review of the unit. I couldn't be happier with mine.
I had a predator generator when I was living off-grid in the cabin for 3 years ran it day and night no problems. Between 8 and 12 hours on 1 gal of gasoline depending on how much energy I was using .
Correct me if I am wrong, you are supposed to actually “discover” a mineral before you go and stake it! Some people and companies I believe blanket claim ground without actually making a legal discovery.
Your correct. You must first discover a " locatable mineral" to stake a legit location claim. The people and companies that do that are trying to run some type of scam with mineral estate.
You are allowed to claim the ground the vein is running into already by the science of where you are without opening it up. Right now they are fighting the right to dump the dirt on non mineral ground next to the open pit, unlike any mine in the past. Big companies are great for blanket claiming, but its lodes so the surface is usually still open for collectors.
Hey Jeff, is it true Harbor Freight sells claim jumpers? Lol! For either placer or load! Lol!..... Happy Holidays once again "somebody" brother...⚒️⚖️🤙🎄🤠

Great video. I know of a claim that is closed now due to not paying the fee by September 1st. I will investigate when winter is over. Too much snow curreny.
I would paint the PVC tubing afterwards because the sun will eat that PVC up eventually it will fall apart. I'm in Phoenix if you leave pool plumbing where the valves and pump are exposed to the sun it turns it black and purple eventually it will crack. Just hit it with some spray paint put a few coats on it does the trick. Good information I see lot of these people selling unpatented mining claims on real estate websites like Zillow marketed in a way that people think they are buying land when in effect they are only buying a right to mine the property. The prices are $5000-20k they know eventually get someone who doesn't know any better and get scammed. I have always heard it's more cost effective to join a club like the road runners mining club here in Arizona.
