Maybe you could hook up a bipod from an LMG to the coil rod as a stabilizer? The pole looks almost similar in width that you might be able to but you may need to fabricate a custom bracket.

Why is it a bad spot to use the detector? . I understand the geologic reason I think .. but what I'm wondering if there could be high minerals ( not gold ) that would make the detector read gold when it wasn't? If so what minerals would do that?

I was hunting gold jewelry in 1996 with a Bounty Hunter machine sold at Radio Shack. I had found four very nice 14k rings, three in one day, and went down the tourist lake to an even bigger boat launch with cabins and picnic tables. I saw one of those "professional" treasure hunters with a very fancy machine. He was putting red flags where he`d found signals and laying out a scientific plan, but he became so excited when he found a very expensive ruby ring at the boat launch that he LEFT all his other finds on a table and sped away to an appraiser! I waited for over an hour but he never returned. Most of the necklaces and rings he left behind were 10k though.

Awesome video Jeff. Very educational and informative. Me and the wife are in Australia, we brought a Monster a while ago. The store we got it from (I won't name them) but they said we should go on one of their excursions to learn the detector. They and other people told us we must keep the coil off the ground. We had so much trouble finding anything. I was so frustrated with the monster I was ready to throw it down a mine shaft.
Then I was watching all your videos Jeff where you used the Monster in your drift mine. And I noticed you would rub the coild on the soil. So I figured if Jeff does that then I must be doing things wrong. So I said to the Mrs So come on let's go. Go back out the the bush. We rubbed the coil on the soil and we started finding shot pellets. I knew then we we're on the right track. Then next weekend we found our first gold. So Jeff thanks to you you're awesome videos we Learnt how to find gold. So to you Jeff from us Thank you mate 👍

Another great video; thanks for posting. I do two things differently when I have a signal in the scoop. 1) I use two scoops to divide the dirt back and forth. It's a lot faster for me. 2) After 1/2 the dirt is out, I run the bottom of it over the magnet on my pic. Many times a wire or other metal will pop right out. But, I still run it over the coil one last time, and have found gold too.

You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth! The truth is..., i don't scrub with my gold monster anymore. I move the debris myself because between the utter silence and a hot machine can make or break finding gold. That's right, you and the machine are one and need to work together. Machine can only do so much, so you have to do your part. Gold prospecting comes first, then the machine. Scrubbing is the way of the past with that vlf, it's too sensitive when it's calibrated. That machine is the best on the market and far superior to p.i.'s when it's in the right hands. I'll always stay (at most) 1/2 inch OR LESS above the surface, but I'll run it hot, no matter the ground mineralization. That's my lil secret. Great video, best wishes

    • @Askjeffwilliams
      @Askjeffwilliams  Год назад +1

we like to do that to, but most people don't like to run it hot because of the chatter so we always say when they are starting off to scrub the floor with it in a lower setting ....not so chirpy and when they get experienced with it and can actually keep it at the 1/2 mark above the terrain then to run it as hot as possible

Good news! The ankle monitor was legally removed! Will go detecting soon near Pyramid Lake. Last week, in the evening, came across a local. He/she gave me plenty of warning before I stepped too close. A medium sized, very healthy prairie rattler. No killing snakes! The black widows can continue to breed as well. Oh yah, will put these helpful metal detecting tips to use later this afternoon. Tanks Mr Jeff. Already smashed the like button into submission. Oh yah, Whites GMT, old but effective, especially for small pieces of flour gold.

My whites GMT sure found a lot of mineralized ground. Would target a large area, dig down to find what appeared to be decomposed granite like false bedrock. Had a peaceful time, found a horseshoe, quail and antelope. Felt good to search a new area. Was interesting to find round pieces of quartz, shell like shapes.

I use a 6-inch squeeze clamp clipped to the flat body where the cable goes. Works perfect. They're black with an orange pivoting tip I don't remember if I bought them at home Depot or harbor freight. Inexpensive and works very well. I'm glad you put a lot of emphasis on keeping the coil on the ground. I'm constantly trying to get people to do that. If you're not replacing coil covers or skid plates often you're not doing it right. There's no gold floating in the air. I'm tone-deaf so I dig everything that repeats. With my GPX 6000 that's a lot of digging. Excellent video Jeff.

I use the GM1000 all the time. To keep the coil flat on the ground without it tipping over all the time I slightly undo the screw then rotate the screen around 90 deg and it doesn’t flip over. Also like using it with a pan as sometimes it may pick up clustered or scattered small flakes that take forever with the scoop.

Charles we got basic fundamental rules for starting out. Go where gold has been found. It's less discouraging and most folks that detect pack out the trash we find. Look at old geological maps. Follow the old glacier melts. You can find gold everywhere on east coast from glacier melt. Even in new York. Jeff gives you everything you need to know. Identify the host rock. Find bedrock. And take your time starting out. Speed kills. All that gold right back into the creek. Good luck.

Idk how it would work with the Goldmonster but with my Goldbug 2 I prop the detector against my shoulder in a vertical position and I never even set my detector on the ground.
Also if I have a "target" in my hand I'll set my scoop right on the coil and sprinkle what's in my hand into the scoop on my coil.
Saves me lots of time recovering Gold (maybe).

Living in southern AZ the advice on snakes scorpions and spiders is well advised as would be carry more water than you think you'll need I.E 1 gal+ per person per day in the winter at least 2-3 times that in summer heavy clothing, hats long sleeves gloves would be advisable since everything in the desert has spines and/or can be toxic

Get an old plastic rod from a set of blinds. It's about two feet long. Put a screw through one end. Attach it to the shaft of the detector. Just pull it off to the side to one side or the other to keep it from tipping.

For a homemade kick stand per say. I have an idea get a T piece of PVC so it’s non conductive and add a couple short pieces. To get it snug on there just use a piece of pipe foam insulation and a little tape. Put the insulation on the detector arm first then put the T over it. It should work so it will keep it from rolling. You’ll have to drill through the center part so it is more like an X. Idk if they make those types of PVC connectors. So the T should work with a little modifications.

I honestly think this is 1 of the best instructional video I've seen on the gold monster thanks helps alot. Liked what u said bout the laser noise makes total sense. Where I go is very popular with ppl having disposable bbqs and littered with aluminium. Also I've been looking at local plants and I wonder if the Holly tree could be an indication of high mineralisation. As I've found them in some of my best spots. Could I be on to something?👍⚒️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

To stop your metal detector from falling over why not use some heavy duty foam? It will add comfort, it isnt too heavy but heavy enough to keep the detector in place, It would also add a little more protection to the metal detector. I dont own a metal detector i have only recently came across your channel and gotten in to gold digging and panning because of your videos so i dont know what would effect the detector i just assume heavy duty foam ( can get water proof ) would be ideal. Love your videos mate, much love from australiia

I've been going to a blm area not to far from Coloma over the last few years after finding my 1st 4.5 gram nug... went back and found 5 more then went dry for a year until I saw this video.. I went back and tried the scrubbing motion and found 3 more! Which means, all that I detected before is like virgin ground for me to go back over the new way! Thanks Jeff! Ive also found 2 nice nugz just before getting to Quartzite.. Love that area!
