Best place I’ve found to mount an extension cord reel in a garage is right in the middle of the ceiling. You can usually plug it into the same outlet as your garage door opener and it’s always able to reach where you needed.
Thread checker! At first when you walked over to the new shop I thought that big rectangular spot was a giant TV.... fooled me! Great shop... thanks for the video.
I'm so glad this video showed up in my que, because I'm in the process of organizing my shop. You've provided me with many valuable ideas that I'm going to implement into my setup. I definitely would like a thread checker. No shop or garage should be without one. 👍
I put a few pieces of hitch receiver tube around my fab table and shop and have a number of things - including a vise - mounted to 2" tubing that I can set up in any of the locations in the shop. Works great. I made some stabilizer clamps by copying a trailer htich stabilier that help keep anything from shifting around. I have my thread checker right next to all my harware as well. Best spot for it.
Great ideas to organize my business and hobby shop. I’ll love to have the tread checker. A few months ago I have the problem you make an example. Finding the right pack for my Porter Vable DA polisher. Also have tons of stews to organize. It will very handy to get one and more if it’s free :). Thanks ja for share your garage.
You made organizing look easy. I am 2 months in and going. I will be adding drawers under my bench now. You got to talk about those ceiling lights. So cool.
Sweet garage setup. Stupid Simple Tools (SST) makes a decent thread checker as well. Picked it up on sale from Amazon and I've been using that in my shop with no complaints.
Badass shop, and yes a thread checker would be awesome, just went to Lowe's a week ago, needed nuts to match some bolts I was using for a honey do project! Lol
Hey guess what. Someone else won the super clean stuff AND DIDN’T CLAIM IT! Send your address to z2avideo@gmail.com by midnight next Sunday Feb. 4th and it’s yours!
01/12/2024 Great video on getting everything organized! I'm going to rip the doors off my cabinets in the garage this weekend. I never noticed until you pointed it out, what a pain the doors are! Oh yea, the thread checker looks great! Pickle Beer would go great with a magnetic cup-holder!
I have that exact Homak box and it has SO much space.. That thread checker is sick! I need to get me one of those too! Great organization and awesome setup!
Currently have a thread checker in the Amazon cart but a free one would be better. Just finished up a garage overhaul myself post home reno. An organized garage is the best.
I love the way you setup this garage. My garage is so unorganized it’s disgusting. I’ve tried and tried to organize it, but fail after a short while because I think I just have too much stuff in this garage. I think next time I attempt to organize the disaster, LOL, I’m going to apply some of these techniques you mentioned. Thanks for the video.
THREAD CHECKER!!! I'm excited to have caught your video for the give away. Your vídeo was an inspiration! Love the flag section... I'm an Aggie too... class of '89 & a Texas history teacher so LOVE the Come & Take It flag!
Some cool tips. I used to have some tools hanging from pegboard hooks, but didn't like how dirty it all got. when I did any woodworking stuff. I now have all my hand tools in toolboxes. I wanted one of those thread checkers, but I didn't want to spend that much. I have one like that at work, but at home a have the ones that come on a cable.
Thread Checker! That particular thread checker is what I see the most! I can see where it would be advantageous to use before you go to the hardware store or ordering online. Thx for the tip.
Hi, you could put your extension cord reel up in the center of your garage and attach it to the truss so that you can use it on both sides. pull it straight down when in use. its what we had at a dealership i worked at.
Thread checker is a useful tool. Also, if you just keep light stuff in the same size bins you can slap together a lifter on a pole for those tall shelves
❤1983 to 1995. Auto mechanic for toyota 1995-2008 Security tech 2008-2020. Computer repair guy. I have so many tools and stuff buried. Thanks. I will use your ida.. thanks again..
I agree on the hitch mounting for the vise. New shop looks great. When it comes to the shelves being overkill, id say its underrated. They'll fill up quickly, as see later in the vid! Thread checker would be awesome addition. Magnetic everything for the win!
Great looking shop - much envy. I could use the thread-checker.... I have a 63 VW and an 82 Jeep, so I've got lots of misc bolt boxes that need sorting.
I'm on a garage organization journey myself. It's coming along. I think the only thing my garage may be missing is a THREAD CHECKER......... or the hammer my wife borrowed a month ago. Great video.
I take pictures with my cell phone of all of my cabinet shelves with the doors open and drawer contents with the drawers open and save them to a folder on my phone. Then I have flash cards that I can study from time to time to keep familiar as to where I have everything stored. Im constantly rearranging things for work flow reasons as my shop is constantly evolving. There's always a better way. I'm 62 years old so change isn't so easy for me but it is paramount.
First, I love the shop. Congrats and phenomenal job on the layout. The vise on a mount that goes into a hitch receiver is also on my list of ideas... Not only for my vises but also bench grinders. It seems like a great way to make things more useful. One thing to keep in mind is the vise should be able to move out a bit and up and down. I like the vise high when filing and low when using a hacksaw.
I’ve also wanted a thread checker for a while now, but I haven’t gotten to the point of “I think I’m worth it” yet haha! I did like the outdoor kitchen videos from long ago. I vote for that, eventually.
Ha! If you got to that point in the video then I think you’re worth it! I’m hoping I’ll get to the outdoor kitchen early spring so it’s ready for summer
Yellow colored tools are great which on job site you can located . Plastic clear through see boxes work for me.. there is stuff , i can see. Great work. I remember 1983 being a mechanic , i had a junk box and still have one today. I have junk in it and when I really really need it, I can find it. Junk box meaning special screws odd stuff. Ok. Great work..
Just watched both this and the previous garage organization videos. I am working on planning out my 2 car garage organization for spring and was looking for ideas. Hopefully one day i will be moving into a shop like yours but im super excited to have a 2 car garage and a small shed for now. I never knew i needed a thread checker in my arsenal until i watched these videos but it make so much sense! Also i have 2 sizable oil stains on the floor of my garage so I could definitely use some degeaser. Regardless of my luck in the giveaway you have definitely earned yourself a new subscriber! Your videos are entertaining and informative. I also appreciate that you showed your mistakes and how you go about fixing them and how you expain why concepts you had with the last garage didnt work and what your solution was. I would be facing to hear how you like the changes youve made to your setup once youve had a chance to break in that awesome shop.
You really like your MartinHouse! thread checkers are pretty slick... I like your vice idea. I was also thinking hey do a rolling vice table but I like the idea of the trailer hitch vice and what I will say about those is they have a little slop in them compared to a regular vice.
The thread checker is something I've been looking at as well. The paper organizer for your sand paper is a really great idea for any shop, never thought about it before and its extremely simple. Thank you for the inspiration. Cheers :)
Best place I’ve found to mount an extension cord reel in a garage is right in the middle of the ceiling. You can usually plug it into the same outlet as your garage door opener and it’s always able to reach where you needed.
Yes I was going to say this but than see u posted it already great advice
That’s how I mounted my cord reel. It was life-changing!
Thread checker! At first when you walked over to the new shop I thought that big rectangular spot was a giant TV.... fooled me! Great shop... thanks for the video.
Everyone needs a thread checker!
I like having extension cord reels mounted to the ceiling between the car spaces, using the garage door opener outlets.
Same here. I cam to comment the exact same thing!
I'm so glad this video showed up in my que, because I'm in the process of organizing my shop. You've provided me with many valuable ideas that I'm going to implement into my setup. I definitely would like a thread checker. No shop or garage should be without one. 👍
talk about building a dream shop. great job.
A thread checker is a necessity for any shop in my opinion. And your shop has definitely gone from zero to awesome!
Love the new shop. Oh, 0:54 and thread checker.
As an atv/mc small engine repairman, a thread checker would be a brilliant idea to have in my shop. Your shop is awesome, I love the red wall.
The garage didn't look that bad to start out with but wow what a result--nice going, bet you'll love that space!
Great ideas to organize my business and hobby shop. I’ll love to have the tread checker. A few months ago I have the problem you make an example. Finding the right pack for my Porter Vable DA polisher. Also have tons of stews to organize. It will very handy to get one and more if it’s free :). Thanks ja for share your garage.
a THREAD CHECKER would be great! Just moved back into my house after a major remodel and organizing my basement workshop. GREAT video. Thanks!
Great shop. Just need a big TV to enjoy while sitting on the couch. Thread checker should be in every shop.
You made organizing look easy. I am 2 months in and going. I will be adding drawers under my bench now. You got to talk about those ceiling lights. So cool.
Thank! Turns out there’s a video about those lights: ruclips.net/video/h9pxkjpVro0/видео.htmlsi=MsyDj46oHIgopOoS
I just finished building a small garage and I am in the organization phase. A thread checker would be a great addition. Fantastic job with your shop.
Absolutely love the thread checker. I didn’t know they existed as something you can buy
I use a thread checker at work all the time and would like to have one at my garage. They are very helpful!

Thread checker, threadchecker, thread checker! Great shop build, good inspiration! Love the video. Thanks for the thread checker!
Beautiful shop would be an understatement! Lots of room for all kinds of things!
Agree! Can’t imagine how much all this cost…
Sweet garage setup. Stupid Simple Tools (SST) makes a decent thread checker as well. Picked it up on sale from Amazon and I've been using that in my shop with no complaints.
I definitely don’t know what to do with a thread checker but I’m quite sure my husband does. Love all your videos!
Badass shop, and yes a thread checker would be awesome, just went to Lowe's a week ago, needed nuts to match some bolts I was using for a honey do project! Lol
Awesome shop. Glad I found some new stuff to watch. A thread checker is a great addition to any shop

You have a nice thread checker and pickle beer holders. You could also use a magnetic paper towel holder.
I like what you did with the tool box. Converting to two big drawers is smart. 👍🏼

Trailer hitch mount under the workbench was what I was about to type, then you said it. That's probably your best option for it. Looking great BTW!
Awesome shop ideas! Thank you sir.
Thread checker. How do I get pickle beer?
The garage looks Awesome and I love the placement of the thread checker.
I agree on the hitch mounting for the vise. New shop looks great. When it comes to the shelves being overkill, id say its underrated. They'll fill up quickly, as see later in the vid!

Great looking shop - much envy. I could use the thread-checker.... I have a 63 VW and an 82 Jeep, so I've got lots of misc bolt boxes that need sorting.

Thread Checker
I'm on a garage organization journey myself. It's coming along. I think the only thing my garage may be missing is a THREAD CHECKER......... or the hammer my wife borrowed a month ago. Great video.

Have started building a place of my own to keep tools. Thread Checker would be a great addition.
First, I love the shop. Congrats and phenomenal job on the layout. The vise on a mount that goes into a hitch receiver is also on my list of ideas... Not only for my vises but also bench grinders. I like the vise high when filing and low when using a hacksaw.
You have some great ideas! Awesome video and thanks for showing us around.
Do the hitch receiver you won't regret it, you can make a bunch of mounts for different tools, I've got em on tube benders, rollers, arbor press, vice

Agreed. I can't believe how obvious it was. I mean paper is right there in the name. Sand paper. Duh
