Hey guys! I've uploaded my written notes on my website for you all, so you can find them at this link: www.moaninc.co.uk/aeschylus/agamemnon-summary . Hope this helps! x
Erika, I have just discovered your channel and FREAKING LOVE IT!!!! I think this episode is my favorite so far. You had me laughing through the whole thing. I have been very impressed by your intelligence and communication skills. Keep up the great work. Hope all is well with you. :)
Glad U’re back. Precisely at a minute 23! And this is why we love U! Well, entertaining analysis. Unique takes. Intelligent retelling. Stimulating interviews. And big beautiful eyes don’t hurt! Keep being excellent!
Can we just talk about the fact of how pretty she is? 🥰 I just stumbled upon this channel but I found myself so amused. She is smart, beautiful and hilarious ☀️ keep up the good work! ♥️ Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Aeschylus, "the father of tragedy," fought at Marathon, and many in the original Dionysian festival audience for these plays would have also been vets of the Persian Wars.
great for I am a new student of Greek Drama and considering the Oresteia as I thought applied to all the plays but however is only a certain trilogy. So - Gift!
Wow this woman really knows her work! I'm subscribed to the right channel. The question is how do I get her to leverage her knowledge to help me with what I'm doing?
Oh man, Agammemnon adapted for modern TV in the style of Kevin Can F Himself. Clytemnestra doing her happy wife act and then it goes to gritty drama as she leaves one room and goes into another.
A lot of people tend to like Sophocles or Euripides better than Aeschylus, but I don’t think they can hold a candle to him. The Oresteia is a masterpiece through and through. I think it’s better than the Iliad tbh
I don’t know if it’s fair to compare Aeschylus to Homer given that they’re completely different genres and formats, but both writers are utter masters of their craft 😮💨
I had only briefly looked at “The Oresteia” years ago, but this channel got me interested in it again and your comment has me excited to explore since you value it so highly. Is their a particular translation you recommend? I’ve found that I prefer and understand some over others.
When I read the part about Cassandra it reminded me of the death of Jesus Christ. Jesus prays to God in Gethsemane and screams to God when he is on the cross. Cassandra screams for Apollo. Both Jesus and Cassandra know the future and stil they are going to walk right into their death. Is there anyone out there who thought the same as i did? On Google I cannot find anything about this comparison.
Ah Agamemnon, the King of Mycenae and the High Wanax of the Danaans. Also the biggest jackass in the late Bronze Age 😂 A man who united the Proto Greeks and create a power that would even be acknowledged by the Hittites. But then fumbled everything when he sacrificed his daughter, sealing his fate (also waisting resources in a ten year war which left Greece vulnerable for pirate attacks and invasion from the balkans from the north)

I recalled reading Agamemnon back in day and it was the chorus that bugged me. Guess that's why I preferred the dourness of Euripides

The more and more greek I read the more and more similarities to the bible I see.
