Every one here says no one moves back. Well my own family, my in-laws after their retirement moved back to India and staying like kings after working for 40 years in the US. Well they are US citizens so they can go back and forth. The reasons are weather, domestic helps, availability of everything at the doorstep and most important, there are always people around you there will never be loneliness. Those things you can never get in US even if your bank balance looks like a phone number.

Better you guys, please do not come back, we have made lives easy here, since you guys left India, with what ever, you would have saved by purchasing 2 single family houses in US, with that (US $ vs INR + Tax) money, it will be very much difficult for you too, to buy descent 3 - 4 BHK flats, or appartments in Indian cities, your US savings would not be enough in India to buy, farm houses having 1 acre land located near metro or semi metro cities 30 km apart too... your kids will definetly suffer a lot in Indian school, college level compition + language study difficulties + Maths study + life style etc...🤔

Hi Mandar. A hot excellent cup of tea in a good restaurant in Mumbai or Pune is Rs40 which is 50 cents. Health insurance is also very much prevalent. Medical insurance is popular in the upper strata and the lower strata is covered under govt schemes and hospitals. Digital tech is used more than in US, as you are aware of UPI, Aadhaar and now ONDC. Own housing for those planning to return after a decade or so would be affordable even in metro cities as compared to prices in US. Anyway these are personal decisions so each to his own.

The point is not whether Mumbai has equal quality of life, but how many other cities in India, offer similar quality of life. In the US, you could live in a place like NYC or a small town like Memphis and get the same good quality healthcare, schools, housing etc. healthcare in India is not half as good once you go past the top 8-10 cities. And all those larger cities suffer from massive over population, crumbling infrastructure and air pollution. And let’s not try and compare digital maturity between the 2 countries - a few government program cannot overcome decades of underinvestment. In due course, we all hope India becomes a better place, but it’s delusional to say that the quality of life in India has caught up or better than the US.

Also, having an approved I-140, if we want to come back again after moving, do we have to get back in the H1 lottery pool?
What are the ways to mantain Green Card in that situation, does visiting once every 6 months work if we do not want to go for citizenship and mantain the Green Card status.

The brutal reality is that in the United States immigration system actually is assuming that while being on a non immigrant visa you will invest as much as it is needed in your "home country" to be able to go back at any time. That is the ugly side of the non immigrant employer petitioned visas. And now add 10-15 years on top of it you have to go through it just to be able to remain permanently.
Children born and growing in the US who have never seen India for example. But even there the assumption is that you teach them mostly the contact to India. To be able to live there. The result is that while on non immigrant visas nationals of the same country rally together, marry between themselves to do not have any discussion when they need to go back when it does not turn out.
It is a horrible and unfair immigration system.
30 years ago, an immigrant visa for employment did not take more time than a non immigrant visa. So employers seeking employees and wanting to employ a foreigner went through green card directly. So all those ugly problems did not occur. So the non immigrant visas were really only for temporary help of the US economy.

As soon as I joined the dates went back to 2011 and I was barely able to file before sep 30, 2022. The attorneys charged such a huge amount for filing applications around $12.6k ( for 3 members. My employer mandated immigration firm) . Adding to salt to the injury, I had to return back my joining bonus to my full time employer which was a good bank as I didn't work atleast 12 mo for them ,then lost 12 weeks parental leave and lost the yearly bonus 😢 as well. Thanks for the quick reply. What is the limitation to move money if it is final relocation. if we have to maintain a bank a/c and 401k, they need one local address. if say 'vangaurd' had to send a letter not sure where will they send? Since a person is a citizen, what if he gets a letter for jury duty? How will we handle all the mail if get? Even if we give change of address to friend's place, he may have to move in future. Not sure how to handle that kind of situation. appreciate your suggestion in advance.

If you're following what is happening now in the world, the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or even Europe will not be as great as they used to be. They are facing a difficult economic situation now, and it will continue.
BRICS are the future of the world economy. BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will become a new world order. Whether you like it or not, it's starting now already. So, having a decision to go back to India is not a bad choice either. Sooner or later, BRICS will become a group of nations that will control the world's economy. Some countries have decided not to use USD anymore. Instead, they are using their own currency now. Again, it's sooner or later!

I would suggest dont listen to anyone who says, can go back and have a better life in India etc. no 1 challenge is medical system. If you are sick, you would need to empty your savings. 100% cheaters. Next traffic, food rates as close as to usa. Don’t think you would go and eat roadside. If you do you will end up in hospital. Then security. You might be following every single rule but others who don’t may hurt you. Kids especially girls safety is almost 0. Last 8 years i dont what govts are doing, heard drugs in the schools and colleges, pubs etc. so think deep and see all possible options to stay. Don’t take quick decisions and leave. If there is no option for you and had to leave, instead of fighting for GC here, fight for life in india. I am on h1 too
