Hey all! Wanted to say thanks Biffa for taking the time to fix my city! Loved the meteors at the start! And excited to see where you go with it, truly did not expect this and I am very grateful! Also, for those who were wondering why the Steam Community link wasn't working under the video (seen a few comments about it and tried it myself): I found the issue! The link posted has an extra digit added at the end. Remove the last 3 and it should work!
I loved this! Please feel free to make this a series of many episodes, if I ever have a say in it. Surely the public transit needs attention, but I think the road spaghetti could do with some more untangling if you will.
I wanna see mass transit beeing handled next in this city. And if you find more 2-3 episode fixes, don't be afraid to sprinkle them in from time to time between the smaller, one episode ones
This is clearly the city of a beginner who has been slowly building the roads. This player must have watched a few of your videos regarding lane mathematics but still got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of traffic. More and more roads were added trying to reduce the traffic until the collapse happened. I started pretty much like this, without giving thought to priority, roundabouts, speed limits....It's really nice to see a city coming back to life after being pretty much doomed.
Well this is definitely a fun one! I think half your problem with the dogbone and some of those other interchanges is that you destroyed pretty much all the connectivity across the highway and haven't replaced it yet. Instead, you just have a couple of interchanges. Put more North-south (crossing the new highway) connector/collectors in and I think you'll relieve a lot of the pressure on those junctions. Then sort out the transit...
Sending *all* the traffic via the highway is indeed the biggest issue right now. Give the highway some relief, allow cross connectivity, public transport and walkability, and it will improve massively.
Hey Biffa, great video! That was a real city fix! One thing. When you're using the network myltitool, create connection tool, you can move the curve by pulling the center point, but also widen the curve by pulling at the edge of the circles.
I made my first BIG city on this map. Now I'm playing Murky Coast again with my multi-year experience (and heavy modded). What a surprise you are fixing traffic on the same map. Love it!
Looking forward to part 2. Hopefully there is a part 3! These types of videos are why I subscribed to the channel. Keep up the great work, Biffa. And good luck on your house move.
Yes. Would rather see these type of videos than the city builds on always flat land. Nice to see how to deal with uneven terrain besides just leveling it.
These are my connectivity and highway access related suggestions: 1. The 2-teir T - highway intersection to the left of the map (on the peninsula south of the old airport district) should be changed to 4 way system interchange, with a new full fledged highway crossing the river, and directly servicing the airports, instead of the arterial placed in this video. 2. The collectors running N-S should have some overpasses(Vanilla overpass Project) to overpass junctions and roundabouts closer to the E-W highway. This will provide tremendous relief to the traffic en route to places far away from the highway. 3. SPUI is not considered a high capacity interchange (especially ones without slip lanes). Change the SPUI with a PARCLO. Here are some terrain related suggestions: 1. Tunnelify the roads which are cutting through weird terraces. 2. The dog bone should be grounded.
Biffa at the beginning: *destroys everything w meteors and landscapes everything to the same height through hilly terrain* Biffa at 19:40: "why are these buildings so much higher than the highway?"
@@PokoTheDinosaur RHT and LHT is right/left handed traffic, that is if you drive on the right or left side of the road. And this matters when it comes to interchanges, since those are asymmetrical.
Finally someone giving biffa some difficult fixing! So we get more episodes out of it, thank you stranger! And of course thank you biffa for keep giving us great quality entertainment!
First-good luck on the move. Second- that was the most brilliant way to start this fix. Only a natural disaster can save this city. Also it just boggles the mind when I see buildings on the traffic circles…have these people never seen one? We don’t have many here in my neck of the woods but man.
The next thing I'd do is connect the parts of the city, without using the highway. You built it up high so the roads could go underneath it, and then most of the work you've done has been to allow them highway access. Then fix buses, trams, train, helicopters, planes, and whatever other transport solutions are needed. THEN check to make sure the needs of the city are met, and weren't destroyed by meteor strike.
Biffa if you ever get a chance to drive through Tennessee they really did cut literally a hundred feet down through a mountain to level the highway just like this 23:37
Please reconnect the underground lines. Even if you are gonna redo them later right now you have lots of vehicles and metro stuck because your meteor strikes destroyed underground sections.
LOL Thanks Biffa -- Just an FYI there are no bugs only features 😀 My suggestions are to add another connection for the area in the upper right to one of the highways (I'm not sure they actually have connection but instead just have bridges over the highways). The other items are to redo metro and bus lines. Don't forget to clean up all the airport stuff.
Hey, Biffa. You could put the Eightabout in the Dogbone Interchange to Groundlevel, and elevate the Highway over it, that would make it look much better ;)
10:00 you're using the wrong tool for these connections, and they look janky as a result. Unless you need really complex connections with multiple curves, use the "Create curve mode" rather than the "Create connection mode".
Man, Biffa, that city was quite a mess! But right after the meteor strike I would have reconnected the underground metro lines and the railways to provide alternate ways to get around while fixing the traffic. And another solution was in the cards and still is: by-pass ring roads!
21:00 maybe it's just me but it looks like you lowered everything down like you wanted, and then with "slope objects" they mostly went back up to their previous heights lol. There's still quite a bit of slope on some of those roads in this section
I have thought the same but I honestly enjoy watching Biffa fix them either way. but it does suck that these potentially manufactured fix-it submissions probably result in missing out on cities from viewers that really want their city fixed for them to be playable.
Air traffic control must be fun in that city... five airports, heliports, a rocket launch facility and a space elevator, all crammed into a very tight aviation precinct.
I have a potentially interesting idea. Have someone send you a city with very good traffic, and do your best to break it as much as you can with as few changes as possible.
I do like most of your fixes here, and appreciate your dedication to not ripping everything out and restarting (even in this video; I've seen other people who basically redo the entire city while you still worked with what already existed), but you seem to really struggle with having things at different elevations. I wonder if it's partly because you're usually looking at it with a top-down view, so you don't notice the elevation differences as much?
This is the prime example of why you shouldn't use spaghetti everywhere. They are good to eat! Not of anything Else. Keep up the work Biffa. Am a huge fan of you. You were the inspiration for me to start playing Cities: Skylines. Can't wait for more videos.
I'd love to see you changing the cities road hierarchy next. I think it'll be a massive boost to traffic flow if the highway exits are connected properly to collector roads which spread and collect traffic throughout the city. Afterwards I'd like a focus on the mass transit, which could be cancelled completely before continuing with anything at all. I mean.. half the congestion was busses, right? :D
Instead of terraforming you should have a tunnel there. 😅. If you connect the airport and fix the train-line you loose a lot of traffic . Now everyone need to drive into the city. I would like to see you redo all lines of bus and metro. Maybe make one area pedestrian-friendly. North of the city it may need a shortcut too. 😅 Looking forward to see what you are going to do. 🎉
