- Chip Yost reports for the KTLA 5 News at 12 on Feb. 4, 2022.
A man described as a felon with a long criminal history has been charged after allegedly taking a Brea police officer’s gun and taser weapon, and battering the officer during an arrest attempt in La Habra this week, officials said.
Police are also searching for a bystander who intervened and helped the officer subdue the suspect.

I'm sure he doesn't want recognition, but at least the officer would be able to shake his hand in thanks.
A part of being a Good Samaritan is anonymity- otherwise it defeats the purpose. Most good deeds go unnoticed. A true Good Samaritan never really needs a thank you, the feeling you have done the right thing is often reward enough. What a wonderful man, his family are all for the better having him. 💜

Years ago a friend of mine pulled an elderly, unconscious man from a burning vehicle after an accident. He stayed with him until paramedics arrived and then left before he ever came to. Two years later he was contacted by a private investigator that the unconscious man had been paying for 20 months with the sole task of finding out who he was and locating him. The investigator told my friend that the man wanted to thank him and wire him $10,000 for saving his life. My friend agreed to a phone call with the man so he could thank him, but refused to accept the money. His reason was "Id want someone to do it for my father".

I cannot imagine the weirdness and embarrassment that would have come for me if people had tried to prop me up or "recognize" me for doing the thing that decent, caring human being would do. I didn't need anything more than distressed screams to motivate me and, honestly, nobody should.
It chills me, sometimes, to remember that, later, watching the security footage to nail down a timeline for the cops, that one store employee and one bystander *ignored* the screams and cries to either *keep sweeping the floor* or *run away uselessly*. You'll never motivate cowards and you're only going to embarrass and annoy actual good samaritans. In the middle ground, though, I get it - it does help to have these calls to goodness and beacons of hope. But the real heroes - not that I am calling myself one - would have never needed it in the first place. It's in your blood and in your heart, the call to protect.

I’m glad that that man helped the officer. He was fighting for his life! I’m glad both are OK. They both live to go home to their families which is their ultimate goal at the end of the day!
Both? It's more than two. It's the suspect, it's the suspect's companion, it's the cop, it's the anonymous helper, it's the bystanders: with a gun around, any and all of them could have gotten shot-and not one of them did, which is fortunate for all of them and for so many more people, who love and rely on those who were at risk. The suspect may be away from home for a long while; but at least he still has a chance to turn his life in a better direction, something he wouldn't get if he were dead.

Along with the rest of the amendments. Wake up dude. Cop's aren't your friend. No one should be helping them. I would be sick to my stomach if I was the one helping the Nazi's!
@@chrondog18 maybe this will help. You don't need a licence to drive on private property. Cause you're using your vehicle on your land. It's your business what you do there. Once you take your car on public road, you are agreeing to abide by the rules set by the people who collectively decided to make the road. It's not your road, but if you follow the rules, you can use it. Same concept applies for masking. Private businesses are allowed to say people don't need to wear a mask in their store. That is constitutional, because it's their property. You put whoever you want behind the wheel on your property, and people are not legally allowed to drive on your property if you don't want them there, because: your road, your rules. But in order to use roads that aren't yours, you need to abide on agreed rules, and if you don't, you forfeit the right to drive an the road, and the police should stop you because the ones who own the road don't want you to drive there without certain assurances. You might say "oh I pay taxes so I own the road". Not quite, it's like owning a share in it, and that doesn't mean you override the agreed upon rules unless you own it completely, (or are enough of the majority to change the rules). The fact that this man yelled at his passenger to grab the gun is completely unnecessary, and indicates that not only was he willing to put others in danger, but he actively wanted to involve her in a crime as well. A crime way more serious than a traffic stop. So no, the police aren't Nazis for enforcing the rules, because you actively agree to the rules when you use public roads. You want to drive without a licence, do it on your property. You want to use another person's property, you follow their rules or follow proper channels to change said rule. This man helped an officer deescalate a dangerous situation, and that does make him a hero. Simple as that.

I am a firm believer in the fact that no good deed ever goes unpunished....... Stay invisible brother.
THANK YOU FOR ASSISTANCE TO THE POLICE OFFICER
Thank you Good Samaritan for helping the cop. We need good people like him.
Agreed! As someone who had a criminal felony assault happen with no one coming to help, it’s good to see there are folks who will stop and get involved to assist when a person’s life is at stake. ❤️
This is what Good Citizens do..
Don't just stand back and watch as someone's life is in danger..
Get in there and help..
This was a Brave act by a citizen that knew this officer's life was in danger..
Great Job Guy..
Sometimes it only takes so little effort to turn a bad situation into a much better situation..
A few more seconds..
Who knows what the outcome would have been ?
But chances are..
It would not have been good..
Cops go out and do their jobs like anyone clocking in on their shifts.
Most have families that want that cop coming home unharmed..
All this crap about all cops are bad is Hogwash..
I do not approve of such talk..
Yes there may be one bad one to every 15 or twenty..
But on the most part..
They are Heroes and We Need Them..
Most are Proud to Wear that Badge of Honor..
They should be..
They wear something that Represents a Long History of Brave Men and Women Heroes...
All those officers stood and watched floyd get killed then like 70 officers protected his home🤡 so I mean
@@haroldsmith5150 That's like saying your a good cop..
But dont know why everyone treats you like trash..
Sure there were those that were guilty.
But Justice did prevail.
I bet some of those that had to stand watch till such time as those guilty officers would have loved to turn the mob lose on the cops that killed Floyd..
Your looking at it the same way I bet you wouldn't want others looking at you..
Very well articulated thank you! I'm just saying

@Vash theStampede Derek Chauvin, the Cop that actually killed Floyed, was Found Guilty of Murder !
Sentenced to 22.5 Years in Prison.
He has appealed.
But the sentence will stick.
Although I agree that the Death Penalty should have been applied ..
We must think of how that cop's life is over..
He will never wear a badge again.
Plus 22.5 years in prison is no walk in the park.
Not to mention..
This trial sent a message out to All the other Want-to-Be Bad Cops..
That message is..
They will be held accountable for their actions..
So yes..
I kept up and also feel there was justice for Floyed.
We live in a society where when, someone has committed a crime.
It is up to the courts to put this person through trial and hand down punishment as the court fills is right.
This was done.
Chauvin did not walk up to someone with premeditated murder on his mind then carry out that murder..
He committed murder while supposedly trying to make an arrest.
This is how the court seen it.
Evidence shows this..
Yes the law needs changed in that aspect..
But it is what it is..
Not to mention the Floyed Family will gain monetary retribution..
Plus the other two cops are going to pay.
The bottom line here is this..
Chauvin was found guilty of murder.
Labeled for eternity..
I call that justice..
Blessed be to Our Father, love from AZ-US 😊
He is doing a community service by helping a police officer who wants to go home to his family after his work day is completed.
Brave citizen doing a good deed.
Australia
We should be allowed to send peace of s#it to Australia like old days 🤷😂
God help the good people of Australia from tyranny.
If a cop really wants to go home at the end of the day, he shouldn't be committing roadside armed robberies to fill the coffers of corrupt politicians. Never help a cop. They are the worst criminals in society, bar none.
@@concernedcitizen2898
Please get yourself educated..
There is no facist, tyranny movement in Australia...just anti vaxers..
Where do get the idea that we have a tyrannical government here ! It is laughable.
No one is making these people have the vaccine..

My comment my opinion, don't need your ridiculous remark to read.

Not everyone needs to have their faces plastered all over social media to feel like they have purpose....let him step up on his own if he chooses. God Bless that man and God Bless that officer.

Ok but what does god have to do with this?
@@Nick-rg8oz God is watching you every day, Nick.

Helping that officer in trouble was second nature to him...he probably wouldn't want any notoriety for his kindness..
Thank you stranger for helping a fellow human in trouble ❤
Police are human so they get the same punishment and no immunity like us I agree let us all take away immunity!
You do not know a single thing about the man so you have no basis for your statement.
I hope the Good Samaritan comes forward, just glad the officer is ok and wasn’t hurt! Thanks for your service and stay safe!
That might be hard if the cowboy parks in handicap (hint)
Why do you hope he comes forward? What if he doesn't want to come forward? This is one of the many problems with being a good Samaritan in modern society. If I were to see someone struggling for their life and I was able to help them, there are, unfortunately, other things that would go through my head. 1. Would someone sue me as a result? 2. Would the media come after me? 3. Could I potentially put myself or family in danger as a result of the publicity? In this case, could the buddies of the guy being arrested identify me through the media and show up at my house? Leave the dude alone. He clearly didn't do it for the recognition.
They should NOT have posted his picture, if he wanted to be identified he would have stayed, now his picture is posted like a wanted criminal.
@@wyattfamily8997 exactly. The story is more important to then than the safety of the public.
The satisfaction of knowing he helped someone in their time of need is the reward. It's a great feeling.
Helping the Nazi's is always something someone needs a reward for. Should've helped the guy get away from the road pirate. They're 100% unconstitutional and Supreme Court rulings have proven time and again that you don't need a license, registration or insurance to drive. Just pathetic

How totally selfless! This man came and helped out someone in dire need and once everything was sorted he left on his way with a smile knowing the knowledge of his act was all he needed! What a lovely guy leave him to his peace x
Kudos to the elderly civilian who helped out this officer......believe me, if I was there, I’d be doing the same thing too......There’s too much lawlessness as it is in our communities, and police officers sure could use Good Samaritans like these to make their jobs a lot less stressful.
