Killer intro footage Josh! I appreciate your impressions and looks like an awesome camera to me for sure 👍
Thanks Jay! I'm looking forward to diving into this camera!
z6iii color is a positive surprise
Even the oldest Nikon has good colour man😬 and they don't look that different at all.
What are you smoking even 50yrs back Nikon had color contrast nailed with 3D pop.
That intro!!! 🔥 And the sound of the plane flying over 👌 I love that stuff.
Nikon’s gonna catch on fire in the next two years - gonna see a lot of video pro and content creators make the move. Hard to argue with what you get in their cameras and the acquisition of RED is going to help them to be taken more seriously. Another excellent video, Josh!
Thanks Matthew! Yeah it's going to be interesting to see what Nikon does over the next few years for sure!
@@Josh_Sattin I’m looking forward to it!
If you have a chance could you please compare the quality of the 1080p 240fps against the FX3? Wondering which one is better for slowmotion
Hola, quedo a la expectativa del vídeo a profundidad. Gracias y éxitos en tu canal.
Great VLOG vibes in the beginning of the video, very nice footage! Looks like the Z6III is solid play by Nikon!
Thanks!
Glad you have this. Would love to see comparison to R6II color and DR. The video it took looked great
Thanks Josh. Can I record to my ninja atomos ssd also on this camera?
Thanks for the balanced review. Well stated.
i have zve1 with 16-35mm, but i need mechanical shutter too for photo, plan to sell all of this in order to buy the z6iii n 24-70 f2.8. do u think its worth it or just stay on sony system
Sir which frames rate u shot those beautiful vedio ..also kindly suggest which frames rate is better to take random travel vedios ..
I have preordered z6III. Shipping 5th of july. Could you please do dynamic range test in raw. Push pull latitude test against other cameras that you have.. Im really skeptical about dynamic range after Gerald undone’s review.. always love your videos. Thanks
You're welcome. Yes, I definitely plan on doing those tests. Thanks for watching!
Great pre review. Thanks for sharing. The image over all looks great but the way it handles the highlights… looks quite harsh. The lack of highlight roll off reminds me of Blackmagic Production Camera 4K. It also had a great image out of a fast sensor but this was its fatal flaw :/
Not being hyperbolic, but if you compared this to iPhone log or pocket 3 log in uncontrolled lighting with ND filters, would the video look all that different?
Can you do the Canon R50 vs Z6iii autofocus test? Thanks 😊
Could you test de focus breathing please? Thx!❤️
How is the IBIS compared with other Nikons? Improved? I have a Z8 and I think there is room for improvement.
another great vid 👌 perhaps a small detail to most, but I've gotten really used to having 3x control wheels, and honestly rely on it when shooting something critical. surprised it was omitted on this body.
Otherwise, this is a very compelling body 👌
Thanks! Yes, good point about the third dial on the back!
Please compare with r5c and a7siii
Hey Josh, great video! Looking to start freelance with some years of experience in corporate videography. Not yet bought into an ecosystem yet. Worked with Sony throughout my carreer tho. I'm thinking of going for the Nikon z6 III or the Panasonic GH7. Really liking the arri log and what panasonic is doing. A bit worried about not having a full frame in low light since my first jobs as a freelancer will probably exist of shooting aftermovies for events. Any advice or thoughts would be welcome! :)
Thanks! I haven't used the GH7 so I can't comment on it. If you need extreme high ISOs then the Sony camera are tough to beat.
Thanks for the video. Will keep an eye out for some of your upcoming tests of the Z6 III. I am a bit concerned about the dynamic range though, as that is one of the things that is important to me (I shoot a lot of real estate videos on a gimbal, and there isn't the time nor the budget to set up lights). Right now, it seems that the Z6 III has worse dynamic range in 6K full frame than my Panasonic S5 (original) has in cropped 4K 60p. I don't know if that makes it a "deal breaker" for me, but it is very off-putting. On the other hand, the Z6 III brings so much to the table. I really wish that Panasonic would announce its next camera that is a higher end camera than the S5 II soon.
If you shoot in h265, yes the s5 with the vlog will have more DR...but if you shoot raw with the z6iii, you will have the same results or better...but you will have to add NR in post
Thanks!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I hope you thoroughly rest overheating in different temperatures with different settings. That will make or brake this camera as a viable pro tool for video focused work I believe.
Oh, and something a lot of people want to know but almost no one is testing is the quality of the 1080p. The z8 for example has not that great 1080p in FX, presumably pixelbinned, but the 1080p in DX is pristine, down sampled from 5.4K. I wonder if the FX 1080p is downsampled from 6K in the Z6iii.
Overheating tests with video recording has been done by Gerald Undone and Ricci Talks. Both were not able to provoke a overheating shutdown.
Re: S5iix, I think it's worth mentioning panasonic's brilliant line of same-sized primes. The Z6iii is a great camera but I'm much less tempted by it b/c from a whole-system POV, the S5iix and prime lenses I already have (e.g. using the 18mm prime + digital stabilization, using the small 100mm macro) don't have any real equivalent in the nikon lens lineup right now.
As much as I love Panasonic, check and see if you can adapt those lenses to z mount, Nikon currently has the shortest flange distance among all camera brands.
@@MtZionMediaPro I looked but haven't found anything yet. I also have a Nikon Z body, which I love, it's just the lenses are expensive, often large, etc.
Nikon extends their dynamic range more into the shadow than into the highlights. In raw, you should be able to recover a lot more shadow detail with Nikon, so keep that in mind when exposing.
Hey Josh, I'm an A7SIII/FX3 shooter and thinking about making the jump to Nikon. What are your thoughts on video, especially in low light? Thanks
Oh man. That is a tough call. The A7S3/FX3 are tough to beat in extreme low light but I haven't directly compared them with the Nikons. If you are in the middle ISO range the Nikons have a lower second base ISO. Here are two videos where I tested dynamic range:

ruclips.net/video/Al1T7QTLogI/видео.html
@@waveland let me know what happens when you try the other lens out. Hopefully it’s a simple fix
that dual-base 12800 will be hard to top imo. that FX3 in low-light is really special
Don't do it. You will regret switching from Sony.
Just the fact that you can't shoot video to 2 cards simultaneously makes this camera a toy.
nikon need to make a new log, nlog is not enoungh
What are your first toughts about dynamic range against the z8?
Really tough to say without having them side by side. I would assume the Z8 has more dynamic range though, but I don't know.
@@Josh_Sattin Will you do a comparative test later?
Unfortunately I don't have a Z8.
@@Josh_Sattin Ok fine, i will wait for your test video later
I find it interesting that it can shoot raw at 4k without a crop, that's half the file size of 6k!
Yes. The Z8 has a similar mode and it had some issues. I documented that in this video: ruclips.net/video/YyyiKwlRXCA/видео.html
@@Josh_Sattin I see, I was wondering how they were getting down to 4k. So, there's some trickery going on.
Yeah it’s interesting. I am in touch with a Nikon engineer so I’ll share some more details in a future video about the Z6 III.
Can you shoot longer videos than 30 minutes?
Yes, 2h 5min record time
@@RejeRush Thanks, but we got a restriction here in Germany. It's not possible to record videos longer than 30 minutes.
Please do a dynamic range test of this camera plz plz
ruclips.net/video/5F6LXgfEQlM/видео.html
Lumix has 6k open gate that none of the others have, I consider That huge advantage
Fujifilm x-h2s also has 6k open gate.
@@MarceloLangame true but it's not full frame
@@indago1 Yes, Lumix S5 II
How is this camera great for video when there is no control over shutter angle? It seems a little better than Z6ii. The Z8 is more than likely a better buy.
Low DR at low ISOs is a bit disappointing… otherwise a good hybrid camera
Is the shutter really loud? When I turn it on our off, go to the menu or to review, it makes a clunky sound. Louder than my Z6ii I think. Anyone else?
Yes! I noticed this too. I was looking for a way to turn this off, but I couldn't figure it out.
That clunky sound is locking the sensor against movement for the IBIS unit.
That's what I assumed, but it is loud and you can feel it when you hold the camera.
From the sample footage, I saw the highlight doesn't protect very well, the DR still is a problem in NIkon.
LOL, change your monitor
@@solardungeon let's wait for my test and see how is going
@@solardungeon the Dynamic Range test video was updated, go and have a watch, it can show me right.
Main Z6 III PROBLEM is NO VIDEO BACK-UP to Secondary Card :((( ..TOO RISKY for UNREPEATABLE EVENTS... Unfortunately SAME as ALL 2slot Nikons incl. Z8(!!) & Z9(!!!) :(((
Cf express b card is very solid card…so don’t worry about that…it’s not like sd card
