I discovered the Beatles in 1963 when I was 15 living in Transylvania, Romania. It wasn't easy listening to their music that was broadcast by Radio Free Europe because the Russians heavily jammed the sound waves, so we had to listen to the music between electronic noise breaks. You cannot imagine what a revelation their music was on me. Left the country in 1964 and spent an amazing 8 months in Rome. A few steps from our apartment was a square called Piazza Vittorio where among the pinball and fuzzball machines there were some coin operated jukeboxes, where to my delight I found several Beatle records. The funny thing was that the Italians would only listen to the latest hits from the San Remo music festival and not the Beatles. Never the less I was in music heaven and spent every hard earned coin listening to the fab four. Thanks Mike for bringing back those memories and giving them life once more.
Cool story, I can't imagine what it must've been like to hear The Beatles when they first started. I am a 15 Beatles fan and love playing these songs, glad they mean something to other people too.
@@milestrotter6844 Same here I lived in Cuba and the goverment did not allow any American music in the goverment control radio...the Voice of the America play it and I love it
“ Always good to hear from people in other countries tell their feelings about The Beatles. In 1965 when I was four years old and began having very vivid and solid memories I remember riding my rocking horse to Beatles LP’s my mother had acquired… and from then on I grew up with all their albums. In 1969 I was eight when they broke up😐”
What amazes me about this song is that it was written and arranged by very young (early 20s) Beatles. Such a mature song for young lads to create. Brilliant guys those Beatles.
Mike as a 78 year old guy from Liverpool who saw them so many times on the cavern. Cant tell you how much I love your take on their music and of course it helps guitar players like myself learn so much more. Many thanks, Regards John
Oh my god, can you please share some insights, some experiences. Think about it, how many interviews with the fans who got to hear their sound before it was studio polished. Was it as good, as rich? Did they make mistakes like the rest of us slobs? Did they do their antics as we in the US only saw on camera? What did everyone in the audience think of Paul's voice which we perceive as godlike? Please share...
Thanks Mike. I was born in 1951. I somehow managed to purchase each Beatle's album as it was released here in the US. My father wouldn't allow their music to be played in the house so each day as I got off the school bus (and my mother wasn't home) I went right to the stereo and played Beatles albums until a car pulled in the driveway. (I stood in the window). I started playing music when I was young. I was in my first band in high school and have played in bands on and off ever since. Music has been important to me my whole life, but it was never more magical than in those hours spent standing (and singing) by the dining room window.
I can relate to your recollection as I too, am a '51 baby. It was The Beatles that triggered my serious study of singing and learning their harmonies via ear-training on earphones. As with the Everly Bros., learned both John & Paul's parts! The guitar learning came a little later on, so I can now sing their songs solo! 👍
The True Brilliance of The Beatles cannot be realized . At least till we see a beautiful song such as " And I Love Her " broken down and played by someone like you Mike who truly Loves the Beatles Music both as a Musician/Fan . Thank You so much for sharing your wonderful Talents & the Beatles with us .
This song is so lovely and intimate. We often take these songs for granted because we've listened to them hundreds of times but it's such a stunning composition and performance.
The two things that stood out to me as a 7th grader when I played this album for the first time in 1964 in my bedroom, was 1) the key change jump going into the lead - that was stunning to me. and 2) George "creeping" back in after the lead. It was so great - he just "snuck" back in ... no doubt, as Mike pointed out, because they were dealing with with a 2-track recorder. So great.... what an impression this song had on me and how it contrasted all the screaming and shouting that surrounded them on Ed Sullivan TV performances - with this song, for 3 minutes of this 7th grader's life, the world stopped turning and everything in it was perfect...you don't forget things like that... -The Composer
Im suprised being " *THE BEATLES* " the best and most popular band on the planet didnt have access to an 8 track or 16, even a 24 track recorder? The things they would be doing. They did so much just on 4 track! 🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️ 🌞
Amazing, Mike. You and previous posters have about said it all, particularly about George: "genius," "big ears," "maturity," etc., so I can't add much. His musical choices never fail to astound, and your analysis, breakdown, and expert presentation of them make them so accessible. Guitar-pickin' Beatles fans (me) owe you a debt of gratitude.
One of thee most beautiful songs ever written. That's an understatement! We'd be so fortunate to write one that comes close to matching the brilliance of this song, but we'll try!
There's something so special about the way you express your love for the beatles and how they worked; and what they did, That I get. That actually can't be expressed in words. The suble smiles, the hmm moments with a shift of the head. I listen to the Beatles everyday. Thanks Mike.!
Mike, you not only offer an historical narrative on the Beatles' material but a definitive examination of their material. Your extraordinary dedication to these iconic songs is a true blessing to players and fans. God bless you!
The first studio attempt to record "And I Love Her" on February 25th, 1964 was George Harrison's 21st birthday. No doubt he was a young musical genius...Paul was right, that song wouldn't be as cool without George's riff. What a beautiful acoustic classic! Thanks Mike 🙏🏻
NOW I understand how you're able to so perfectly analyze Beatles songs. You're trained as a classical guitarist! Deepest respect and even deeper THANKS for the way you share your gifts!
When a everyday guy like you Mike (as talented as you are) gets so close to the original feel of these classics it gives some of us mere mortals hope! Thanks 😎
His unbridled enthusiasm for the topic is amazing. After all of these years ,his passion for the Beatles and their virtuosic musical chops is inspirational. Thanks so much for the education. I loved hearing Mike play a lick of Spanish guitar. Bravo.
Mike, you are absolutely the best! Your love of The Beatles shines through on every song you do. I really enjoyed your own classical playing which shows how brilliant you are in your own right.
Very good, Mike! I am 64 and playing guitar since 9 years young...Thank you for keeping The Beatles alive for the next generations..Very good and I appreciate it and you!!!!
I taught myself the entire song with solo and all of George's cool parts way back in 1964 when it came out. Later on, when I studied Theory in College at UNC in Chapel Hill, I came to understand the precise scale [ Bb/ G minor] the solo came from as, initially , I simply just found the notes and followed my eyes and ears. Knowing theory is the big game changer that I recommend to all. It's the ultimate problem solver. Thanks for this tutorial . One of my favorite "acoustic" songs of The Beatles. I teach all these songs as well. Thanks for doing all your homework on these classics and for your genuine enthusiasm for their music.
Your reverence and appreciation for the songwriting, maturity and soloing on this song is in full display. I love it. There was no better band on the planet and it's not even close. A friend of mine and I started getting together once or twice a week at the onset of the pandemic and play guitars just for fun... and every time we dissect a Beatles song a little more closely we realize the brilliance on an even deeper level. Really well done and your lesson was one of the best online. He and I are in the middle of learning this song which was what brought me to your channel. The Beatles stuff has all been incredible for me particularly because I'm a drummer primarily, so getting to dive in on the genius of their writing has been eye opening for me as a musician and very mid level guitarist. My pandemic Beatles jam sessions have helped get me through the pandemic. Keep up the great work!!
Mike, I especially appreciate your analysis of this song because in the video of the Beatles playing it live, the cameraman focused on George playing the solo for only about half a second. Thanks for relieving some of that frustration!
Hey Mr. Mike, you are a great Beatles analyzer and performer. I've almost have seen all the Beatles songs you put on You Tube. Thanks for explaining with such details, playing the part of each one of the Beatles then synchronizing the whole work to let us enjoy a song almost like the original version. I strongly admire your work Mr. mike, for which you should be given the title "Sir" like all The Beatles. Keep it on Maestro. 🎸🎸🎸🥁
I can't say enough positive things about your Beatles guitar tutorials. Your enthusiasm for their music comes across so positively. Thank you for everything.
What's the coolest thing is that we not only get to learn the beatles songs but also with all the fun facts and back stories from Mike. So thank you so much :)
Yes, very lovely and It is worth pointing out that even though none of the Beatles had formal music training, they did compose and play many of their songs with a Spanish/ Classical flavor. Besides Rock and Roll I also have an affinity for listening to that style of performance.
Love this song. Learned it played it for my beautiful wife at our wedding at the Hard Rock in Niagara falls. It'll be 9 years this May. Love her more everyday.
I've always loved this song by the Beatles and this lesson has helped me greatly in attempting to play it myself! Your attention to detail and obvious enthusiasm for Beatles music is simply inspiring... just makes me want to learn it all the more. Thanks so much Mike!!
My God !!! You are quite amazing Mike ! - I could "and have" listened to this over and over' it's absolutely unbelievable just how talented you are ! 'Gee wizz it's inconceivable what you must be capable of really doing with a guitar ... You absolutely make people's day's better, by posting things like this on RUclips !!!
I could watch you all day Mike, thanks for the appreciation of Beatles music and the teaching skills you give to us all. FOR THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BEATLES!
As someone who’s been a massive Beatles fan since I was a kid (first got into them when I was 10 and I’m 22 now) I love your analysis videos, it’s always cool learning about the various intricacies with their parts and how they fit into the music so keep up the awesome work Mike
Very true, I’ve actually heard early Beatles called a boy band and even a 3 chord band! I’ve played guitar nearly 50 years and like any musician who has learned and dissected their songs..they are beautifully constructed, their brilliance was no accident.
Fantastic lesson & history of a classic Beatles song Mike. I can never wrap my head around how musically astounding they were. Call it Genius but how they were able to write & play music like that is anyone's guess. Your performance of that song was right up there with the original version! Thanks for keeping this music alive & well for all to hear & be amazed by! Hope that you are doing well & staying safe in France.... 👍👍👏👏😉😉
Thank you Mick. Bravo . Everything is just good the voice the plays tge talk and the way you make US confortable . Cherifblues from PARIS. SINGER and Songwriter in three (3) languages.Nice to meet. you Mick.
Was in a Beatles/British Invasion band for five wonderful years. I came up with the idea of going from "And I Love Her" directly into "This Boy," on that final "D" chord. Works great! Try it!
Nice Mike! such a great Ballad! love that song. I grew up in N.Y.C., Went to Chelsea Voc. H.S.. Got my Electrical background and sell supplies now for the Last 30 years. Anyway, I graduated IN 76' I was playing guitar for several years already, and My H.S. started a Music class in my Junior year. so...... I got to find out who else were Musicians. Played with some good players. Bob Shaw from Brooklyn played bass. Jeff Olshen played lead / rythum and Myself the same. and Also , A fella named John Tagliarrino. John and I started a Band that summer of 76' and two other Fellas. and that song was one of our Favorites ! And A Great Bridge song from the Faster stuff. did also, 8 days A week. Steve Miller songs, B.T.O..... All the Fun R&R stuff of the day....... Once in a while, I strum that. Oh, so, in 1979, I Got saved and accepted Jesus in My life. so Bid the band farewell ..... The music I was playing changed. I still play. Thanks for Cover and Great Info !
You are doing an amazing job ! Absolute respect !! Thank you so much for showing us your Beatles-lessons. Trying to play their music is a great experience and you are the best instructor on RUclips ! Best regards from Germany...
Mike; this is so beautiful on so many levels! Your knowledge, talent and enthusiasm for this music is truly captivating!! Thanks so much for doing these lessons!
Hi Mike. Just to express my love and deep gratitude for your work here. I really enjoy playing along with you. Thank you so much again for breaking all of those guitar parts down.
Mike I want to tell you how much I enjoy and have learned from you. I saw the Beatles in Minnesota when I was just a young teen back in 1965. The joy and appreciation that you have for their music is incredible. You've taught me a lot about the history of how the Beatles created some of the best music of our time.
I really enjoy how you always give the back story with dates and explain the process, there is a theme in watching your lessons in how the Beatles constructed music -really revolutionary for its time , it makes me wonder why more composers don't use it today? Also side note I can't imagine on how you felt when you met Paul what a highlight...
Mike you’re very inspiring to watch . I can learn from you ( which I have a hard time ) but you got a way of being with that guitar 🎸 that is SPECIAL. Thank you 😊
As much a music appreciation lesson as a technical lesson.. I was about 9 years old when this was played on a Hard Days Night. It was so different then the other music they played. It always resonated with me and could never get old.
You should have been the fifth Beatle. You play there music just like I remember back when I first saw them on The Ed Sullivan show. How great it was to be a young teenager back then. I long for those days. Thank you for all your music
Wonderful lesson on a great song Mike quite inspiring And George's master guitar work shows just how great he was Simple but not easy to get the essence of this
Great job Mike as always. I worked out George’s parts a long time ago and was thrilled to have worked out how to play it. It’s so tasteful. And I Love Her was recorded on 4 track as was all the “A Hard Day’s Night” Album. The first Beatles track recorded to 4 track was “ I Want To Hold Your Hand” towards the end of 1963. I was taken to see the Hard Day’s Night” film with my Mum and older sister in June 1964 aged 5. Watching the Beatles play “And I Love Her” in the film was truly amazing…..I was hooked!
New subscriber here. There is so much to dive into with this extremely detailed, extremely wonderful tutorial. Overwhelmed. In a good way. It's like when my physics professor proved to us that time isn't the same for everyone, it's relative to the individual. Mind blown. The sum of these parts created a masterpiece. 🤯
So glad i stumbled across your channel a while back. You're a joy to watch and your love for the Beatles is undeniable. Your little classical interlude was awesome.
Thanks Mike - really insightful analysis of how the Beatles, on occasion, worked. And you break this down so well, you make it something interesting to work on.
Hi Mike. I played in a group in the early 70’s called Young,Gifted and Brown. We played at various venues with the band you were in at the time. I have an old poster from one of them but I don’t know how to send it to you. So proud of what you’re doing.
I had song down bout a year after picking up the guitar, which must have been about 1972. I wore the grooves out of my Beatles records. Mike has it down to a 'T'. God, how I wish I had RUclips in my younger years.
Your videos are great. easy to see what you are doing with your hands and then it's all put together with all the instruments shown at once. Very good for learning. Thanks.
I altogether agree regarding George's special forms of genius in his work on many Beatles compositions, including this one. Think of it this way: he was all of 28 when he left the Beatles as they broke up. Anyone who could that much superb work by the time one is 28, that is genius.
This is one of my all time favorites... Thank you so much the great explanation and break downed totally loved it!!!! This is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ tutorial and documentary!
Fantastic! With all the passion and joy you put into this song analysis and performance, the only "genius" thing about George that I was missing is this: The seemingly simple lick he plays at the beginning is just 4 notes: B E D# C#. However, the first time he plays it, it leads into the F#m chord - the second time it leads into the E6 chord. Thus, although it is the very same "simple" lick, it creates a whole new feeling when leading into the E6 chord. Incredible.
One of my all time favorite Beatles song. I don't know why I always come back to this song. I guess it's because of the vocal phrasing, melody, sing a long style... it's just awesome!!
Love the impromptu classical noodling. It’s OK to show off a bit. Obviously, your talents are concealed but not hidden. You give the Beatles new life and energy. Also a constant reminder that I’ve learned some songs wrong. I appreciate learning the right way... Kudos!!
Hey Mike, I found it interesting that your classical was a gift from Phil Keggy. I can just imagine the two of you playing those old Beatle songs together. You're both fantastic guitarists. Thank you for your RUclips toutorials. Blessings
Steve Obrien - Oh yea - thatz something Phil & I did a ba-zillion times! Have a looksee: ruclips.net/video/QMTQqc9lXMk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/ib-6DVlCQaw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/el82VF_4wQY/видео.html
Man I so love the Beatles. And I’ve just loved Phil Keaggy so much. He is truly an amazing guitar player and a lovely Godly man. I followed you because I learned about you from watching Phil’s videos. But when I was younger I always heard a Beatles feel with Phil. And hear I love watching you because you have so much knowledge of the peoples. My step Dad use to help train the Fab 4. So I grew up with loving the peoples.
Mike, thank you so much for the lesson on And I Lover Her. it's my all-time favorite song, actually favorite piece of music. Period. I have a wide range of loved music, my second favorite is Beethoven's Seventh Symohony. That's how great Paul's song is it compares with the greats. And I'm so glad you pointed out how advanced the guitar work is in this song.
Hi Mike...great videos on the Beatles. I grew up on the Beatles graduated HS spring of 1970 I'm not a musician, but greatly enjoy understanding how GREAT the Beatles really were. One of the highlights of HS was going to Woodstock with girlfriend/wife in 69 !!! Do more Beatles stuff...thanks

Amen ! Mike P. delivers . Always .
What amazes me about this song is that it was written and arranged by very young (early 20s) Beatles. Such a mature song for young lads to create. Brilliant guys those Beatles.

Yes, I have always thought And I Love Her has been undervalued. It's subtly genius, not flashy. It's greatness sneaks up on the listener.

Mike, my brother, you absolutely nailed Paul’s vocal part!! And, of course, the two guitar parts were spot on, also. Bravo !

I´m surprised how much details and love for the sounds and expression there are even in simple songs. They are really not simple
Kenn - You are SO right. Their songs are deceptively simple.
Very true, I’ve actually heard early Beatles called a boy band and even a 3 chord band! I’ve played guitar nearly 50 years and like any musician who has learned and dissected their songs..they are beautifully constructed, their brilliance was no accident.
Superb, Mike. Love this song. I'm 90% there, so I'm practicing this weekend.
👍👍👍
Mike, I love how you celebrate their artistry with joy as you faithfully disclose it for all of us to marvel at. Thank you!
Saeple Steve - They were 100% geniuses - and modest about it. Thanks for those very kind words and yeah, yeah, yeah - we're doing well in France!
Mike that was an amazing guide and rendition of a masterpiece. Absolutely amazing!
Absolutely stunning song!!!
And I love this, so much. You knocked it out of the park again. Thanks. This song was another great example of the Beatles' magic.
James P - Lucky man you are - having seen the lads live! And thanks for the kudos.
Beautiful and very clear as usual. Thanks a lot Mike !
Wow..... I had it right! Thanks Mike for this one.
Always a favorite. 🎸
Great job!
Outstanding analysis Mike. Perfect in every aspect. You're the go to guy for Beatles songs and trivia!!!
Their instrumentation and and arrangements are unrivaled. Nice job!
Wonderful dissection and reconstruction..! Beautiful presentation and moving performance...!
Fascinating history and guitar lessons. You are great Mr. Pachelli!
Mike you’re very inspiring to watch . I can learn from you ( which I have a hard time ) but you got a way of being with that guitar 🎸 that is SPECIAL. Thank you 😊
I appreciate that
Man you do the BEATLES justice. Thank you for your beautiful perfect
Interpretation. Your something special 🕺🏾🎸🕺🏾🎸🕺🏾👍😁
So simple - so beautiful- genius
The work of geniuses well revitalized and described! A job very well done! Thank you for sharing such an beautiful art of guitar music!
Can’t tell you much we appreciate these brilliant videos Mike and you’ve done a great job on one of Paul’s best songs
Wonderful lesson on a great song Mike quite inspiring
And George's master guitar work shows just how great he was
Simple but not easy to get the essence of this
Thank you so much Mike for putting this up. Bless you. It's just great to play along with it. You do a great performance.
Mike you are truly a blessing to us . thanks teaching the GOOD stuff :) well done !
Keith - yeah - "And I Love Her" still stands as one of their greatest works.
Welcome aboard!
Thank you so much Mike. The genius of these guys never ceases to amaze me....and you it seems
Thanks.
Glad you like them!
Grande Mike, è sempre un piacere sentire le tue analisi così tecniche e così approfondite...👍👍
Merci Maximo!
I altogether agree regarding George's special forms of genius in his work on many Beatles compositions, including this one. Think of it this way: he was all of 28 when he left the Beatles as they broke up. Anyone who could that much superb work by the time one is 28, that is genius.
And bear in mind that they learned their playing mainly by listenning to records ! No tutorials, no vidéos ! God's gift. And thank you Mike
This is one of my all time favorites...
Thank you so much the great explanation and break downed totally loved it!!!! This is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ tutorial and documentary!
Glad you enjoyed it!
✌🏻🇧🇷
Thanks for posting this and all the others as well, a wealth of great lessons with an amazing attention to detail!
Very good Mike. I enjoy your videos. Thanks so much.
Love the impromptu classical noodling. It’s OK to show off a bit. Obviously, your talents are concealed but not hidden. You give the Beatles new life and energy. Also a constant reminder that I’ve learned some songs wrong. I appreciate learning the right way... Kudos!!
Fantastic Mike! Thanks so much for these videos, you do a great job of explaining and demonstrating.
Have a looksee:

Man I so love the Beatles. And I’ve just loved Phil Keaggy so much. He is truly an amazing guitar player and a lovely Godly man. I followed you because I learned about you from watching Phil’s videos. But when I was younger I always heard a Beatles feel with Phil. And hear I love watching you because you have so much knowledge of the peoples. My step Dad use to help train the Fab 4. So I grew up with loving the peoples.
Really appreciate your knowledge and hard work and simply explaining.🎸
My pleasure!
Thanks, Mike. Your lessons are the best.
what an amazing analysis of this master piece....was almost as good as the song itself..... what a true musician who did this work......!~
Mike, you are a great teacher and musician ! Gracias
