Thanks Joe. The guitar was in bad shape when I bought it. It needed a fretboard level, new frets, nut, tuners. I decided to put stainless steel frets on it. Most people tried to talk me out of it. They said it would change the tone for the worse. Don't think it made a difference. Possibly a slight improvement and I will never need a fret job again!
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar you're playing has got me thinking of playing again. I used to play chord melody like you but got kind of burnt out when I tried taking on too much. Thank you for posting and please keep doing so.
It caaaannnnn be depressing in that I will never touch your Master Jedi Guitar level of Jazz, but yes, thanx so much. Greatness, without a full exercise of every scale known to man...and JP.
Marvelous!!! The moment I've heard you playing this song, immediately (finally, after two months) I took my guitar... but, after 2 minutes I left playing and ended up with a deep sigh and glass full of whisky... well, at least, I enjoyed your playing and my whisky... ;-)
Nice playing man - was listening and thinking Joe Pass - one of my early heroes. Listened to your playing in the Organ duo - It Could Happen to You - great tune - beautiful tone - love your phrasing and your comping. I was at Berklee in the late 70's - Gray Sargent ( T Bennet's guitarist was playing in a small cafe - I got a job there just to listen and learn - he was definitely influenced by Kenny Burrell. Your playing reminds me of him - It's no wonder he got the gig with Tony. You have a great sound man!
Love Gray's playing. I play often with Paul Langosch, who played bass in Tony's band for 20 years. Was going to catch a show this fall, but Tony just canceled his fall tour due to Covid
There are probably people who think that a Yugo, in reverse gear, would smoke a Mustang or Challenger, but damn, who is the ONE person that had to put the thumb down on this? Thanx, Chris
It’s time for you to present to the public a Chris Whiteman Omnibook of your best performances (well, there are all good) . I’m sure there will be some buyers. I’ll be one of them.
Yes, I know, but I since I am playing solo I can do what I want. When I play with others I play the original form: "Soft Winds"- Chris Whiteman Trio at Lake Anna, VA 9-4-22 ruclips.net/video/kLxlBabsNT0/видео.html
Its listed above, but I'll put it here for you Larry.... I am using a 1959 Gibson ES-125T (thinline) and a Quilter 101 mini reverb head, pine cabinet that I built with 10" Eminence lil' buddy (Hemp coned speaker). The mic is the industry standard Royer r121 run into a Cloud Cl-1 Cloudlifter to boost the signal, Apogee Duet interface into a iMac using Logic proX. Video is shot with an Iphone X (4k) and synced in Logic. Then video is edited in iMovie (fades in and out), exported in 4k and uploaded to RUclips.
Thanks Chris!, I have a 65's 125t and When I bought it, its owner told me that he always used it with 10-46 and that it did not occur to me to put it in higher sizes. but it seems too soft, maybe the guitar would respond better with at least an 11 52. from your experience, could you advise me? Thanks a lot
Arousing harmony and phrasing porn; any better than this and you'd have to take something for it. LOL Thanks Chris that was moving; thank you for sharing.

Just love his work, supremely talented
Tasteful and not boring
Amazing! Love it! Can’t wait for the album - maybe it’s good that it won’t be on vinyl because I would wear those grooves out for sure!
Ha! Thank you!

Ha!
Do you have the tabs for the first lick? That sounds AWESOME
Thank you Jorge. I don't think I transcribed this arrangement. I will check

Two...
Once again, brilliant tone and phrasing. Thanks Chris! Did you take formal training?
Thank you Darren. Yes, I studied classical guitar in high school, then music in undergrad and grad school.
Good stuff! And where do you find all these cool old budget Gibsons?
Thank you! I found this one (1959 ES-125T) on Reverb.com for $800
Can you make all these songs available in Spotify? We'll gladly support haha :) Cheers
solo album halfway done. Should be out in late May, early June
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar wow, can't wait!!!
Just get RUclips Music instead. I did and I never regret it, because I get to keep all these special, intimate peformances.
Nice playing but the Eb7 chord stays for 4 bars, not the usual 2. It's a 16 bar blues rather than 12 like Freddie the freeloader.

Great playing Chris, is the melody arrangement pdf the whole performance...
thanks Garth. No, just of the 12 bar melody statement of Soft Winds. No improvisation sections.
Waouh excellent Can you give me the chords for intro pls pls thk u
Tasty
Thank you
Zooy mamma! That’s incredible-was that improvised or practised incredibly well?
Thank you, that one was improvised
I love this. I also have a 125T, would love to coax those tones out of it. I know it’s the fingers, but what amp are you playing through?

How about “Fly Me to the Moon” soon? 🌹🕶✌🏻
great idea!
