First time duvet owner here, and I was ready to throw myself into traffic after fighting with the stupid thing. You saved what lingering sanity I have left, thank you
Hi Jan, your method is the easiest to do on the internet! Absolutely. I'm in my 70's of age and can still do this, YEAH:) I have a big insert down as well.
Thank you! My 1st time ever doing a duvet and cover. Little did I know I wasn't mentally prepared. 😆 After everything came out of washer/dryer I laid it all on my bed and stared at it for 5 minutes trying to strategize. I thought I had it, began then my brain got confused and I wanted to cry so I searched youtube. It was easy peasy with your instruction! 🙌
🤣I know i did the same thing! Why is this so emotional for us?! I bought it for my daughter after trying real hard to convince her not to get one. But the duvet cover was the only option in her style. I always heard they were a nightmare. So, i was really hesitant. The first time I did it, it took me 30 min. to watch a vid and try like 4 times. It was the California roll method. I somehow managed to finally fit it. Then I had to wash it😩 This time I watched this vid and well I said it on my comment. It worked perfectly. with no sweat and took maybe 10 min.
Thank you for solving this conundrum. The second method worked best for us. Our duvet cover’s opening only spans the center 1/3 of the end, so we needed the instructions to insert hand to inside corner of duvet, grab corner, stuff the jelly roll, then unroll. It worked great, though we don’t know why, as we lack advanced degrees in physics.
Grabbing the tops of the insert while the cover was inside out even after I had tied the corner loops DID work, although, I too do not understand how. Thank you!
Oh my goodness I've been a housekeeper for 10 years and the duvets I'm dealing with now this new hotel are so heavy you literally just saved my life and I'm tiny but this will probably take loads of stress physically off of me thank you so much for your video 🤗💗💗💗
I watched several videos about putting on a duvet cover; you are amazing and this first timer put it on with a broken back in minutes. I got lucky as my cover came with strings that you tie onto the corners but I couldn't have done it without you, thanks so much!
I just bought my first duvet cover and struggled to put it on. This video was the only one (after 5 videos) that was explained well enough and done slow enough that I could actually see what was going on. Thanks!
I watched 3 other videos on this subject. Yours, Jan, was the clearest and easiest to understand. After watching this one, I was finally successful. Thanks!
This is the only video that’s ever been able to help me put my duvet cover on. Never had any luck with the “burrito method” myself; thanks a million, Jan!!
OMG just purchased a king duvet and I have a heavy goosedown comforter your method save me so much stress with getting it inside the duvet. Thank you for posting this.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe I even thought to go to the internet to find a HOW TO put the duvet cover back on.......PERFECT DESCRIPTION & EASY TO DO!!! Thank you!!! NJ
My goodness!! Well, THANK YOU, Jan!! My arms are so sore from fighting with my winter comforter!! I went to LLBean to get instructions and I couldn't find any! Then I thought of the most wonderful people on youtube who would actually show me, and there you were! God Bless you, Jan!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for clear, concise instructions with no loud foghorn voice of a D list celebrity talking over the instructions with comments to “kinda zshudge it”. I finally did with a minimum of effort
I couldn’t get my pillow shams on - I’d never used them before. But I wanted to have a beautiful bed when it was made. I used your duvet cover method (with the corners ) and violà, the pillow went in with no further fighting. The pillow surrendered to the sham! Thanks!
Like your corner pulling idea better than the burrito method. Thanks!! Easier in the long run. I now have put ties inside of my cover to tie to corner ends if my duvet to keep them in place. 😍
That's what I was missing on the tutorials, this one included. Nobody mentions the ties and I would like to use them. The corner pooling method allows for this pretty easily. Just tie them as you go.
Hi Jan. I've been struggling for so long with this problem I've checked all over RUclips and you were the one who gave me the keys to solve this puzzle. Thank you so so very much appreciate it greatly xxxxx
Yes! Same here 💯 All other videos only related to covers with ties so they did the burrito roll. My friends cover only has a small opening at one end with a zipper . Those other videos were useless to me, this video is greatly appreciated.
I've wrestled with my duvet too often. Other RUclips videos didn't help. Forget the Burrito! Thank you for your clear instructions and reasonably paced video I could follow.
I love that you provided two different methods. I learned the "burrito method" several years ago, but forgot it. Thanks for the refresher and an alternate method for thicket duvets.
Thank you for this!!! I tried another RUclips video that used the burrito method that didn't work. But after watching your video, it was because my duvet was really thick, and this worked first shot!! Thank you!
I've been using the method of reaching in and grabbing the corners for years. It works fine with both the summer weight and the winter weight duvet. Nobody showed me the method, I worked it out myself and was quite pleased with my "invention"!
Thank you so much. I didn't even have to watch the whole thing and understood where you were going with this. I watched a video before yours and she exhausted me just watching her and I was more confused than when I started. 🤗
I was going to return the Duvet cover because I just got so stressed and I was really unhappy with the small opening in the end. BUT I hung in there and after watching this video I was able to do it by myself! Thanks a million Jan. Cannot wait to see what other tips you have to keep it simple
I do a similar method but start at the opening. I roll the duvet into its cover and by the time I reach the head of the bed it is inside the cover. This seems easier than having to roll down the bed and then up again. The winter duvet tip was excellent. Thank you for your tips. Every ounce of effort saved is appreciated.
Great tip! I actually just posted a new tutorial on how to make your own duvet, but at the end I show the "reach in and pull technique" you can find it here. It's much easier! ruclips.net/video/s6ceva9AlcY/видео.html :)
That first method, is exactly the way I have been putting my duvet and cover together. I have done this for years. This is my preferred method….That’s a pretty duvet cover you have.
Thank you so much!! My daughter gave me a duvet and cover. She sent me a video on how to do this, but it was the burrito method, and my duvet is very thick! I almost lost it!!!!!! This method worked!!!!!!! God bless you.
Thank you so much for this demonstration! I have tried and failed to use the burrito method, but have realised through your video that the burrito method doesn’t work for me and my 13.5 tog duvet! I always thought I was missing something, but your first method worked a dream on my new duvet and cover! I am so pleased - it worked so easily - thank you! Success at last!🎉🎉🎉
Thank You. I found the 1st method (let us call the Corners' Method) much easier to comprehend, visualise and implement than the "Rolling Method". It worked very well. Good on You. 👍
It took a few tries but the first method worked. I can't thank you enough. It saved me so so so much time. I had almost given up on duvet covers entirely. The second method unfortunetly doesn't seem to work with my cover because it has a very small/short zip opening.
Hi Jan, I forgot to mention that I tie & pin all 4 corners before turning right side out just like you demonstrate, otherwise my down comforter shifts and bunches up. Thank you for your demo, it is the best!
this is literally the only tutorial that helped me, i could not figure out the others!! thank you so much, i was getting so frustrated i was about to give up!
Thank you, thank you!! ❤️ I was very close in returning the duvet and the cover, because it was too frustrating putting it on. With this method, took me 3 minutes 😍😍😍
OMG! Have just tried this hack with my two layer, super thick duvet - which previously used to take me 10 minutes + to wrangle (plus a lot of sweat and bad language!)....you have changed my life!! Thank you SO MUCH!! Will never again dread the duvet 😂😊
Thanks to this video, I was able to put on the duvet cover I bought on black friday and was about to return. So frustrated I was snappy and on the verge of tears. I'm able to enjoy my new duvet on Christmas! The other "easy" methods didn't work for me but the corners method is great!
This method works. I was going to use burrito but not working & my duvet is voluminous. I had already tied the corners in & that actually helped. As she did in video I still reached up thru the open end & wow! So easy. At the flap just turn it over duvet at the end before you get that duvet perfectly in there. Less than 3 minutes. Thanks!!!
Once you had the duvet on Im just amazed you took it off again to show the jelly roll method 😁 Seriously now the clearest explanation of the roll method I have seen thx
Liked your presentation. The way your camera was moved and positioned and clear, concise audio. Very professional! I will be watching more of your videos! You should do a video on how to make videos because there’s a lot of people out there that need your expertise…
I love this method! My bed is a California king, and though my duvet isn't very thick, the whole mess is just so big! This works way better for me than the burrito method. Thank you!
Oh my gosh, 🙏🏼 thank you!! Your technique honestly makes all the sense in the world, however I never thought of it, and, instead, would spend at least 15-20 minutes sandwiched in between my duvet and the cover trying to get everything aligned 😂 This is a total game changer 🙌🏼
Thank you, Jan! I have been throwing it over the side of the railing (we have a cathedral-ceiling living room) and since a recent injury, I could not do that - This was great and easy! Thanks for doing this video!
The bed is a king, and working the cover on is a real chore! I have a bulky, but light in weight, duvet, and use the 'corner grab' method. Once on and adjusted, I like to use large diaper safety pins on the corners...through both the cover and the duvet, one on each side, and again where the snaps are at the bottom. Doing this keeps the cover and duvet properly placed, and the pins across the snaps takes the pressure off them so they won't tear. Keeps the duvet from roaming inside the cover. : )
Another advantage with this method is that when you take the cover off it invariably comes off inside out. I leave it like that for washing and ironing so it is ready to go straight out of the linen cupboard. Also when teaching kids this method we always shout "puppets" with our hands at the corners of the cover and make little glove puppet movements. It helps them remember steps.
Mahalo!! First time duvet/cover users. I kept looking and looking how to do it until I ran across your tutorial because our duvet is very thick. The burrito thing wasn’t cutting it. Your method made it super simple!! Thank you.
good video. I had already figured out the first way, if your are lucky your duvet will have ties in the corners in the inside and your comforter with have something to tie them to! This really helps but it takes more than a few seconds!
Thank you so much!! I have a large king size duvet that I was just able to squeeze into a queen size for my guest room. It was just too hot for us. You made it easy to squeeze into that smaller duvet. Thanks
After trying the so called 'easy' burrito method until I got to the point of near frustration. I then came across your video - simplicity itself. Thanks for uploading, for the first time ever I have managed to fit a double duvet cover properly.
Thank you very much for you video, I had done my Duvett cover in a burrito way for a long time, today I did it in your way, and wow, I found out that it was very easy. Thanks again. 😊
With a king size bed and thick comforter (and a memory foam mattress and bad knees), rolling the "burrito" was difficult - I also have a large pet ramp on one side of the bed. This method worked like a charm. Thank you!
Thanks, Jan - you've saved me from a lot of confusion - it's only the second time that I'm doing this. I would only that, because the corners tend to escape from the duvet cover, I have put squeeze-clamps in place as soon as I've got the corners established. I also found I had to clamp the edges of the duvet and the cover in about four or five places along one long side, as the edge of the duvet was still several inches from the seam of the cover, and shaking or fluffing didn't do much. To do this I had to reach way inside the cover (feeling like a horse doctor helping a mare with a difficult delivery), grab the edge of the duvet and coax it into position, then clamping the spot. On the other long side it was already OK. (I went for your vid because one or two that last just a minute or so make it seem too simple, and I didn't learn much. So I went for your in-depth graduate seminar.) Thanks again.
This is fabulous. The first time I lost my top corner so in repeat I used safety pins to hold the bunch - much like some covers have ties. I don’t use a top sheet and wash my cover often. Probably not often enough until I found your video. It is so easy. The burrito method only works for me when the cover opening is almost full length. When it is shorter I could not pull the whole roll through. THANKS
I watched your video and tried the first method, the grab the corners and pull through that you demonstrate. I struggled in the past trying to stuff a comforter/duvet into a duvet and got frustrated. Your method worked great with the new duvet I purchased!
First time duvet owner here, and I was ready to throw myself into traffic after fighting with the stupid thing. You saved what lingering sanity I have left, thank you

At a stage I was inside the cover this morning but now it's done - I'm Exhausted but ready for winter next year.
Considered there’s no opening or the cover(s) I ordered from TEMU. MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE!!!! NEVER AGAIN FROM THIS COMPANY!!🤬😡
Eureka. 70 years old and finally mastered putting on a large heavy duvet cover. Did it in minutes. Thank you
Wonderful
Corner to corner and pull through is the best way for me and so much easier than the burrito roll!
she literally just saved me so much sweat and stress trying to change my duvet cover what a queen xxxx
wonderful
Thank you. I found this much easier than the "burrito" method, which has never worked for me.
Glad it helped!
Just wanted to let you know, for years I only watch this video. I come back to you every time lol

The first "corner to corner" method worked for my heavy Winter duvet! Thanks for posting this video!
Excellent!
Thank you momma for taking your precious time to share these tips.

It’s never ceases to amaze me why some people don’t know how to do simple things like this. Doesn’t take a genius or a video, it’s just common sense.
everyone thinks and do differently I dont like using the word common sense
It never ceases to amaze me how some people can be so judgmental.

Glad it was helpful.
Thank you very much! This was extremely helpful. I was able to insert the duvet with no hassle at all.

Wonderful!
Thank you, I have always struggled with this and you made it so simple now. I used the first method.
glad it was helpful
WOW ITS THAT EASY ,, MY DAYS OF FIGHTING WITH THE DUVET ARE OVER , BEING A SINGLE BLOKE I NOW FEEL ALMOST DOMESTICATED ,, :))
Thanks to this video, I was able to put on the duvet cover I bought on black friday and was about to return. So frustrated I was snappy and on the verge of tears. I'm able to enjoy my new duvet on Christmas! The other "easy" methods didn't work for me but the corners method is great!

Thank you Jan, the first method is a life saver. I was really starring at my duvet before I saw your video. You are the best 👌 👍🏼
Thanks Mitalee!
So i literally looked for YOUR video because I had seen it before, loved your way of doing this!!
Yay! Thank you!
That is how I do it, as you did, just worked it out myself - working in a 5 star establishment helps improve your skills
Once you had the duvet on Im just amazed you took it off again to show the jelly roll method 😁 Seriously now the clearest explanation of the roll method I have seen thx
Glad it was helpful!

LOL you are so kind.
I love this method! My bed is a California king, and though my duvet isn't very thick, the whole mess is just so big! This works way better for me than the burrito method. Thank you!
You are so welcome

that sounds even more painful

Great to hear! And I love this yellow duvet.
Where is it from?? I'm looking for a yellow floral just like that 💛
@@annemarieharrington8590 It's from IKEA.

Thanks so much! I'll never put off washing my duvet cover until next weekend again now that putting it back on is so easy. You're a legend
You are so kind. Glad it was helpful.
You saved my life I was sat there at 1 am trying to learn to put a duvet cover on
I used two duvets to get that “wow factor“. This video was so helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
The bed is a king, and working the cover on is a real chore! I have a bulky, but light in weight, duvet, and use the 'corner grab' method. Doing this keeps the cover and duvet properly placed, and the pins across the snaps takes the pressure off them so they won't tear. Keeps the duvet from roaming inside the cover. : )
J Jo, thanks for sharing your method; I will use the diaper pins tip on my first queen size duvet cover!
Another advantage with this method is that when you take the cover off it invariably comes off inside out. Glad it helped!
I have a Very large and thick Duvet. It was very hard to get the jello roll in but your other method was a walk in the park. Thank you so very much!
Glad it helped!
Mahalo!!
First time duvet/cover users. I kept looking and looking how to do it until I ran across your tutorial because our duvet is very thick. The burrito thing wasn’t cutting it.

good video. I had already figured out the first way, if your are lucky your duvet will have ties in the corners in the inside and your comforter with have something to tie them to! This really helps but it takes more than a few seconds!
Yes, I like corner ties as well.

Thank you very much for you video, I had done my Duvett cover in a burrito way for a long time, today I did it in your way, and wow, I found out that it was very easy. Thanks again. 😊
Glad it helped!
Hi , your video is very easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your technique.
Glad it was helpful!
With a king size bed and thick comforter (and a memory foam mattress and bad knees), rolling the "burrito" was difficult - I also have a large pet ramp on one side of the bed. This method worked like a charm. Thank you!
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful!
So I went for your in-depth graduate seminar.) Thanks again.
you are so welcome
You saved my daughters life Jan!
lol glad to be of help
This is fabulous. The first time I lost my top corner so in repeat I used safety pins to hold the bunch - much like some covers have ties. I don’t use a top sheet and wash my cover often. Probably not often enough until I found your video. It is so easy.
The burrito method only works for me when the cover opening is almost full length. When it is shorter I could not pull the whole roll through. THANKS
You are so welcome
thanks jan!!!!! the first method worked flawlessly. saved me lots of stress. hugs
You're welcome!
Thank you,for the first and second methods, they are both so helpful to me
You are so welcome!
Thank you, Miss Jan. 😊 After trying other YT instructions, this (the winter method) by far was the easiest way!!
Wonderful!
I like the pulling method better as well! Thank you for showing!
You are so welcome
I watched your video and tried the first method, the grab the corners and pull through that you demonstrate. I struggled in the past trying to stuff a comforter/duvet into a duvet and got frustrated. Your method worked great with the new duvet I purchased!
Glad it helped
oh my god thank you so much!! i have a thicker duvet and tried the method you described and it changed everything--AND its centered!! thank you!!!
You are so welcome
Very well demonstrated and thanks for covering thicker Duvets.
