I'd be okay with it if they gave her superpowers, but movies always try to convince us of old martial arts masters being stronger than the young. An average cop with that gear on would defeat her even if she's an expert in martial arts. She doesn't have the muscle mass or the youth.
@@P.90.603 It matters because Hollywood has gotten incredibly lazy. All the re-makes are designed for Chinese audiences; known properties that made money here, but were made when China wasn't allowing Western films in their theaters. As for sequels and spinoffs, Hollywood is just demonstrating their current lack of talent. Most of the great directors are aged out of the game or dead now, and we're left with ADHD style movie makers who got famous making music videos and whatnot. And if you enjoy it, that's fine, but most people don't, and Hollywood has made less money overall for about a decade now, even including China ticket sales. Covid really hurt them, and all I can do is laugh and keep doing what I was doing - Cancelling Netflix and just torrenting everything. Cuz so little of this crap is worth paying for. This looks good, however, and I'm always happy to see a new IP on the rare occasions they show up.
I don't know that this is all that original. It's pretty much A24 hopping on the "Multiverse" bandwagon. It's literally the most blockbuster/popcorn movie move they could've made...
@@tgosselin2528 well anything can be called derivative of something else... The original aspect here is the intellectual property and screenplay. Also it can still be an original idea if it takes an existing concept and does something completely unique with it.
i dont think there will be another movie where they can make two rocks talking with each other in a form of texts in the most cinematic, beautiful and astonoshing way possible
Just saw it. This was not a movie. This was a Modern Masterpiece. Please go experience this in theaters. 10/10. 5 Stars. We aren't going to get another movie as spectacular as this for a LONG time.
My wife and I cried, laughed, cried then laughed again in the theatres. Went home, felt some existential crisis, cried again for a good 30 minutes then laughed remembering all the silly scenes. Easily my top 1 movie of all time for bringing me and my wife on a roller coaster ride. It deserves all the praise and none of the hate.
Can't believe there were multiple times in the film where I went from laughing to crying (or vice versa) within the space of like 20 seconds. Fkn wild movie
How does this movie take such random things- like a rock, a bagel, a raccoon and googly eyes, and turn them into something that can make anyone cry. Masterpiece
In one of those universes he never stopped appearing in multiple major movies annually, until taking on the lead in a sitcom that ran for twenty years. After a surprise series finale that tied into the latest 'Godzilla' by having the entire cast ground into paste by a giant reptilian foot, he returned to a lighter workload of supporting roles in movies.
When a movie with 'only' a $25 million budget, does the whole multiverse thing better than a multi-billion dollar franchise. Absolutely loved every single second of this masterpiece. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll think 'WTF?!'. Ending was maybe a bit abrupt but still, amazing movie.
I flat out didn't believe this when I first read it. I was really impressed by how subtle and real the CGI was, and I figured they must have spent an absolute fortune making it look so good. What an accomplishment!
SAME!!!! But I was also already on my path to this type of mentality and belief. I still believe in my God and Jesus Christ, but I believe now the power that I have because of them or that's within Myself and everyone else! This is such an amazing movie! And it's crazy how the mother and daughter were pretty much exactly what my daughter and I have been experiencing. Her and I always go against the grain and me. And also have a mother just feels like she has settled. But she sees more now. And I think that even though we all don't always get to be what it is we dream of being, it's okay to choose a different path and be just as happy if not more. But self-empowerment is my mission. And this movie has given me a boost. And I also have self confirmation that my daughter and I still know how much we love each other and how much I am there for her just like Joy expresses.
"This movie changed my whole perspective on my life and my family" Can you explain how? I didn't get that from the movie, it felt like someone was high and recorded his dream and made a movie out of it.
Heck yeah, so good!!!😂 i'm seeing a lot of guys going "uhh she's too old to fight that good it's not realistic"...like bruh do you even know who she is, she can kick every ass in this comment section
Just watched this film in the theater. This is definitely the biggest surprise and the best film I watched in a long time. Telling the core story of conflict, identity, and love within a Chinese American family through the use of multiverse, with an insane, bizarre, yet extremely rich visual style, man this is so good I can't wait to see it again in the theater.
When I first saw the trailer I looked over at my friend and said, "This movie is either gonna be really dumb, or something wild." I'm so glad I took a chance on it. Easily in my top 10 favorite film. Incredible on virtually every level.

Went into this movie completely blind-never watched the trailer or anything-and it was such a mind-blowing experience. I cannot recommend this movie enough. 10/10 just experienced the whole breadth of human emotion. What a genuine masterpiece.
I'm ashamed that I waited so long to watch this film. What a beautiful, poignant, funny, emotional movie this is. Everything from the story, the themes, the writing, the acting, and the editing makes this movie a masterpiece of cinema. Michelle Yeoh puts on a tour-de-force performance for the ages and she deserves every award she won. The same goes for the movie. I've seen iconic movies from Citizen Kane, Vertigo, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Forrest Gump, and The Shawshank Redemption, Back to the Future and this movie should be held in the same regard as those classics. It's absolutely incredible and is quite simply one of the greatest movies ever made.

There’s something so special about Michelle Yeoh. I can’t tell what it is but I find her screen presence truly compelling. This movie looks bonkers in all the right ways.
Just came out of a prescreening and IT WAS AMAZING. This isn't a modern masterpiece, it is literally a CINEMATIC LANDMARK. I hope A24 works their asses off to campaign and promote this for more people to see, and for award bodies to recognize. Through the entire movie, me and everyone in the theater was laughing their asses off in one scene, and then they hit you with a deeply touching scene that could make you cry. The absolute craftsmanship of this movie is nuts, it might be a little weird but i assure you, if you just let yourself into it, you will be absolutely love this movie
This is the first movie in 3 years that I'm actually looking forward to. Michelle Yeoh is one of the most underrated actors ever & this project looks amazing. I'm excited that I'm excited.
I saw this film last night. I cannot sing its praises enough. I didn’t think I could’ve seen something more ridiculous, hilarious, heartfelt, jaw dropping, and radically original. I want this to win Best Picture.

Any comment that uses "batshit crazy" deserves a thumbs up. That phrase should be used a lot more, describes perfectly the behavior of humanity for the past 20 months.
The fact that this covers the concepts of at least 11 dimensions in a time frame of a non-epic (in length) movie after I tried to learn and grasp my mind around them is so mind boggling and impressive. Kudos to everyone who worked on this.
1. Michelle Yeoh is always on point 2. We need to support more films like this, even if they end up not being the best, because it paves the way for more creative films and not the usual junk

The fact they use multiverse in a regular movie like this to make it entertaining is a brilliant idea. We always see the multiverse in DC and Marvel shows but for once they use it to make a regular movie into a masterpiece.
This movie was so much more than I could have expected. Blew me away on every level. Very crazy and very touching. Loved it and cannot wait to to watch it again.

Marvel: after 14 years of building our cinematic universe, we are finally ready to dive into the madness that is the multiverse. Can anyone make it cooler than us? A24: hold my googly eyes
My dad randomly found this film and we decided to watch it today. Throughout the movie we laughed and we smiled at the pure fun wackiness of it all. But once the credits came on… we just cried. Both of us, crying tears of joy. We then hugged for about 5 minutes and he said something on the lines of “I’m so happy to have you in this life.” That is by far one of the most heart felt experiences I’ve ever shared with my dad. I’ll never forget how much this film reminded me on why I loved my family.

This film has it all. Outstanding performances. Excellent direction as well as writing. I loved how the visual effects are employed to complement the plot rather than being the main focus of the film. It is both emotionally charged and action-packed. It delivers a powerful message while retaining a plausible story. It was perplexing as well as interesting, and it left me wanting more.

Watched this tonight at the Alamo Drafthouse and it was a masterpiece. An amazing blend of comedy, commentary on inter generational trauma, and existential philosophy. 10/10
The only people who will ponder existential philosophy are the ones who have been programmed and brainwashed into the idea of a multiverse being real by the media. Just like they bombard people with movies and shows about space travel and aliens.
Spoilers ahead but... If a movie can make you cry at the intimacy shared between two women with *hotdog fingers* as one plays the piano with her feet... you know it's a modern masterpiece. And I mean that completely sincerely as high praise
What makes this film incredible is how it tells many different stories all of which are linked to one central message and ultimately, one story. Not many films manage to accomplish that!
OKAY I am so excited for this! They shared the plot of the movie without any spoilers, looks like it will be funny and action packed, and its friggin Michelle Yeoh! I love that woman. Definitely going to watch this movie when it comes out.
Watched the movie and it felt like I went to therapy for 2 damn years. It has a deep meaning to it that you just can't find in other modern movies. You'll laugh, cry, and learn to appreciate things around you. It examines nihilism, existentialism, and everything in between. We live in a world (or a universe lol) where all of us are just here on borrowed time when we will eventually cease to exist and return to dust. But, if we choose to, we can make this inevitable journey of life to death a little bit more meaningful if we love, appreciate, and make the most of what we have. Because "nothing matters" is the reason why everything matters. :) 100/10 one of my most favorite movi- I mean, pieces of art I have ever encountered.
I genuinely cannot believe this movie exists. It's just so out-of-this-world, magnificent, transcendent, and beautiful that it defies explanation. Not only is it a cinematic masterpiece, it sets a new gold standard of what cinema as an art-form can achieve. It's my No.1 favourite film of all time now, by a significant margin. Movies like this truly only come around once in a lifetime...
I watched this movie after having a huge fight with my mom without knowing what the film was about. Needless to say, I cried a lot. The way this portrayed the mother daughter bond was amazing. It just felt so much like me and my mom. Fucking phenomenal movie.

I know I'm late to the party, and this movie has been out for over 4 months now, but this movie was just absolutely INSANE. I don't think I've ever seen a movie, show or game that's managed to provoke such thought in my mind. At first, I thought there was no way this movie could be as crazy as people said it was, but it somehow managed to be even crazier. Just such an interesting movie that does so many things I've never seen anything like before. I can't really explain what this movie was exactly like, it's so unlike anything, but all I can say is that it was an absolutely FANTASTIC movie. I will definitely never forget this wonderfully bonkers masterpiece of an experience.
I just watched it last night, still reeling. I didn't have super high expectations - a few silly laughs maybe - and was in no way prepared to have my world shifted like that. I don't think I've cried in a few years now but this movie had me sobbing for a solid half of its runtime. It also makes me very, very happy that other people see the same beauty I see in it. Makes me feel a bit less alone.
Just watched. I haven't heard a theatre reacted so strongly to a movie in a LONG time (I also live in a country where theatre audiences aren't super reactive). We laughed, we cried, we cheered, sometimes all at once. Like many people have said, this movie is a LANDMARK for cinema and storytelling in general and I'm so glad I got to see it in theatres. You will either REALLY love it or REALLY hate it and I honestly don't care, JUST GO WATCH THIS MOVIE.
YES!!!!!!! I just watched it. Never in my life has the energy in a theater been so palpable. Eruptions of the laughter, then dead silence. When the ending credits rolled, you could FEEL the weight of the room. Everyone just sat there, trying to process what just happened.

After watching this movie 5 times I can say with all respect that the Oscar to best support actress is for Stephanie Hsu. She is just amazing, the acting, faces, feelings ... At the end all are good in this movie. Just love it
This movie shook me to the core and I cried like I haven't let myself cry in the past 2 years. I know a lot of people are talking about the inter-generational trauma within the Asian American community, but I must say, it hits home for the Asians living in Asia too (east, south east, south, middle east, central, ALL OF US). Joy's relationship with Evelyn was so painstakingly similar to my and many of my friends' life experiences. Loving your family can be the hardest thing you do sometimes.
I didn't cry until the drive back home from the movie theater. Everything hit me at once and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to stop crying, smiling, and laughing. This movie is an EXPERIENCE and was worth my time.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll really ask yourself what the hell just happened, but at the end of the movie you will feel something you may have not felt in such a long time. 10/10 for this beautiful storytelling venture into what truly matters in a world of many different possibilities. This movie will truly make you feel everything everywhere all at once 🙌🏾

@@neometalx9 ikkkk like I thought the movie was about different universes and exploring different events, but it only focused on Wanda chasing after a a girls powers to see her children. Like that’s just the average plot of a movie
Something is so melancholic about this trailer, when she says "I just want to be with you". Knowing all the endless possible lives you may experience as a person in the multiverse; rich, talented, poor, silly, perfect life, etc.. where you are now is where you need to be, as your self and with the people you know and love. Forsure David bowie's music sells that feeling.
One of the dumbest, nonsensical, random, unique, genius, heartwarming, well thought-out, well executed movies I've seen in a long time. This movie was literally everything at the same time. I was in a constant cycle of confusion an understanding.i enjoyed it quite alot. It's a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously while at the same time giving you a good story. It's meant to be enjoyed, not criticized.
My tiny knowledge of the Multiverse theory and the Butterfly Effect helped a lot but it is enough for an audience to feel the emotion of every characters to appreciate the masterpiece.
you know, I didnt even realize it. Quite literally, it has everything. Comedy, thriller, action, mystery, romance, horror, drama, fiction, sci-fi, animation, musical, and probably a lot more, all at once. It's one jam packed movie and I enjoyed everything although quite confusing at first.
In not gonna lie, I expected very little with this movie. Didn't expect a good story at all. But after watching several reviews, trusted people I decided to give it a shot. I can safely say that this is a hilarious movie, with good acting, great storytelling, beautiful emotional and character development, and superb cinematography. I don't cry at movies, but I almost did at this excellent film. It made me have faith in movies again, and I would not take that experience back!

For an Westernized Asian woman, Everything, Everywhere, All at Once is about my mother and me. Our struggle to understand each other on display in the deepest, yet most innovatively bonkers way. How all her sacrifices have brought me up to who I am and where I am, but also brought me down in a single snide. I will never forget how a film can bring me so much tears of hurt and joy.
I honestly can't even relate that much to the characters struggles in this film, and I still found it so deeply impactful and moving. Wonderful movie and easily one of my all time favorites.
For me, as the child of a Westernized Asian woman, this film spoke to me as well. I could see how hard my mother tried to give us a better life and keep us from experiencing all the things she did, while being unable to keep some things from slipping through the cracks.
What I truly loved was that it had universal resonance because of that specificity. It understood that you can tell a deeply personal story with specific cultural touchstones, and that makes the story more universal because it rings true.
I loved that it was authentic to a specific culture but still told a story universal enough for a black woman like me to relate to. That mother reminded me of my mother at the end when she said she would do anything to be with her. I had tough fights with my mom when I got to that age, but a mother’s love doesn’t stop. Now that I have a daughter myself, I finally understand. I would jump off a cliff for her. Ugh I’m going to cry again.
This movie makes you cry and then burst out in laughter 2 seconds later, felt like putting a large spoonful of sugar, chilli powder, and lemon juice in my mouth and chewing it at the same time

Reminds me of the TV show OA, but with more of an action twist
I don't know that this is all that original. It's pretty much A24 hopping on the "Multiverse" bandwagon. It's literally the most blockbuster/popcorn movie move they could've made...

Loving your family can be the hardest thing you do sometimes.
as a south korean 29-year old trans woman studying overseas, having trouble with my own mother also hit home rly hard..
I'm a 18-year-old Vietnamese American girl and I have never cried so much for a movie
There's even an animated universe, this looks insane.
It's been like 1 year and 4 months, there're still 0 movies that have the same emotional impacts on me like Everything Everywhere All At Once
Mane quit lying tf
I didn't cry until the drive back home from the movie theater. Everything hit me at once and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to stop crying, smiling, and laughing. This movie is an EXPERIENCE and was worth my time.
"was worth my time", you don't know what this means to filmakers and writers, i blow you kisses, see you again, light and dark.
I cried too but because i watched 45 min of it lmao trash
I was grateful I had a mask on because I think I sobbed for almost 30 minutes towards the end.
@@eddiehartsfield9012 i would like to know which part made u cry?

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll really ask yourself what the hell just happened, but at the end of the movie you will feel something you may have not felt in such a long time. 10/10 for this beautiful storytelling venture into what truly matters in a world of many different possibilities. This movie will truly make you feel everything everywhere all at once 🙌🏾
This movie was difficult for me to watch yesterday. I buried my mother earlier that same day and ironically my mom’s middle name was Joy which was also in the movie. When she hugged her mom at the end I was overwhelmed with grief.
This movie is amazing.
@@Hockeyjew702 my condolences🙏🏾 . It’s moments like those that remind us to cherish the days we have with our loved ones. Especially now more than ever.

I agree big fan of Michelle Yeoh!! This looks like a really fun film!@
I just got done watching this movie and I can say it was one of the most enjoyably bizarre movies I've have seen in a long time and if I'm being honest the last few minutes of the movie got way to real for me and I almost started crying.
only almost? savage
This movie did the whole "Multiverse" thingy better than MCU for sure.
Yeah it made me drop my hands and think about life.
MoM was not bad, but it lacked a little bit of madness from the multiverses.....
it could have been called something else to not disappoint a bit by the lack of multiverses exploration.... maybe doctor strange and the scarlet witch, but that might have sound like batman vs superman LOL.
@@neometalx9 I’m a huge marvel fan but like….MoM wasn’t really like a multiverse type of vibe, it was more of a straight forward MCU movie and I was a bit disappointing but other than it’s good, I feel like everything everywhere all at once probably did a better job than the multiverse.
@@Vvaleraen2 I heard there was 40 minutes cut from the theatrical movie, maybe we would see a bit more of multiverse if we ever get the director cut version...
and yeah, it was alright movie, if they just didn't put multiverse in the name, and also so many rumors of countless cameos, including superior iron man, deadpool, etc, maybe then people would not have unreal expectations...
If I replay that scene is honestly can get me to cry...okay, it has. You can tell she's been through so much when she says that. Fucking heavy
What is the song playing here?

So, I guess I wasn’t the only one feeling that. That trailer kinda resonates, gets ya ‘right in the feels’, as the saying goes. Well said.
It lives up to it's title
My tiny knowledge of the Multiverse theory and the Butterfly Effect helped a lot but it is enough for an audience to feel the emotion of every characters to appreciate the masterpiece.
you know, I didnt even realize it. Quite literally, it has everything. Comedy, thriller, action, mystery, romance, horror, drama, fiction, sci-fi, animation, musical, and probably a lot more, all at once. It's one jam packed movie and I enjoyed everything although quite confusing at first.
Even then, there’s very little to criticize.
It's actually meaningless junk and bullshit. Calling this a movie is a big crime...
Not me watching this movie on the same day as I filed my taxes 😂
Taxes suck; don't pay them
In not gonna lie, I expected very little with this movie.
I have a suggestion. If money and time permits, go watch it again and allow yourself the full access to your emotions. Can you share what that experience was like if you do? Thanks.

I saw this last week and was blown away. Amazing action, originality, comedy, and above all else a well written and very heart-felt story. I was excited to see the movie and was still blown away. It's definitely one of my top ten favorite movies of all time. I'm going back to rewatch it and catch all the things I missed the first time through. GO SEE THIS MOVIE. We need more movies like this!!
Omg this is what I never knew I was waiting for. Michelle Yeoh is an absolute force and icon. What an incredible career she’s had. I cannot wait for this
Wish i could rewatch it for the first time again
Yes I literally cried her fighting for her daughter I wish
This movie makes you cry and then burst out in laughter 2 seconds later, felt like putting a large spoonful of sugar, chilli powder, and lemon juice in my mouth and chewing it at the same time
Hehe that's a great description of the experience!
yup, Everything Everywhere All At Once tada

When I see a movie I've enjoyed above all else, I usually qualify my reaction by saying it's only "one of" my favorite movies of all time. After seeing this a few nights ago and not being able to stop talking, thinking, and obsessing over it, this is the first time I can honestly say... this IS my favorite movie of all time. This is why we go to the movies, and I'm going to be chasing the highs and lows of everything this made me ~feel~ for a long time.

Just finished watching the movie. What i can say is, Incredible. What a brilliant concept of a movie. It's complicated and yet, it's not.
The fact that (if I'm recalling the article correctly) that there is a universe in film in which she is actually attending her Crazy Rich Asians premiere is just...🤯 next level. This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE type of visual storytelling

I thought at first it was boring corny movie. But i salute to this movie when she hugged her daughter. Its not a usual movie that you thought it was like a comedy, action, etc. Its also like a psychological thriller portraying a woman who struggling with everything everywhere all at once. A depressing moment she cant express to the world. Divorcing her husband. Her father didnt like her marrying young. Her fighting with her daughter. And her daughter having a relationship with the same sex. Its actually a great movie. Very artistic. Exaggerating everything that a person cant explain in words.
My definition of a good movie is that there is no "filler" scene. This is one of them. Every take has its own purpose and meaning. It could be fun, sad, horror, ironic, weird, but they are all entertaining and carry a message. The acting is also phenomenal. Just go see it
I just realise when you said that..100percent true no fillers at all for 2 hour movie is amazing..every part of the movie is important event the rock scene 🤣

I've always disliked multiverse stories, and this looks just like another mess to me. Where an author would normally craft a cohesive concise story, an environment or world(s), with the multiverses they usually shuffle a deck of full of "get out of jail" cards. Not a fan.
