  • My Fusion has over 150,000 miles and whining while driving started. Not the normal electric motor whine, this is that "new weird sound". Found out it wasn't brakes. Very low transmission fluid, hopefully it isn't too late. Good luck.

    This guy is cool he's saving people a bundle of money telling them check the fluid in your transmission don't listen to the no service thing from Ford that's for people that like to replace their transmissions? Good job Tom!

    Good video. Same happened to me, I caught the problem too late. After having the noise going on for some time, my daughter told me about the noise in her car. After watching your and several other videos, I followed the instructions and had to use 4 quarters to fill up the transmission. Funny thing is that I couldn't find any leak. Bad news is that the noise still going so my guess is that I will have to replace it as you did.

    The “bolt” that you are referencing is the fluid level check plug. There is a black plastic vent plug under the hood, on top of the transmission. You pull the plug out, insert a thin, long-neck funnel into the hole and pour the new fluid into it.
    Btw - You are supposed to do that with the engine running and at operating temperature.

      @frank4x42 3 года назад +9

      Unfortunately you are wrong. This is not a 6F35, there is no fill port on the top, this transmission is checked and filled with the car level and the vehicle turned off. The top of this transmission (a HF35) is completely covered up in high voltage wiring and the transmission control and inverter.

    I have the 2014 ford fusion SE eco boost and There is a plug on the top of the transmission under the hood. it doesn’t have a dipstick but it’s a little plug between engine block is and the air filter. Little black rubber or plastic circular plug you pull that out and that’s where the transmission fluid goes in with a funnel. Not sure if yours has that tho.

    So I have a 2015 ford fusion SE ecoboost. I drove 4 hours to Ga, and on my way home about 45 mins from home my car randomly started making a low whining noise. Then before I knew it started revving up. Making a weed whacker lawn mower noise. Then when I tried to hit the gas bc I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic with road work I had no where to go but forward it was making a loud pop noise idk if it’s considered back firing or not. I need help, and I’ve driven it 20k miles. Haven’t had transmission fluid changed. I’m wondering if that’s the issue. It’s not wanting to drive almost like it’s stuck in neutral, but it’s in driver. It will go hitting the gas but VERY slow. It happened all at once. It’s not a knock. Any advice? I’m wondering if it’s due to the transmission fluid being low or not having any?

      @@psnomore I went to a different transmission shop here and he told me this cars have two different transmissions and I apparently have the one that no one will work on he said that he don’t rebuild them because they have a 50/50 fail rate. He sent me to another guy and he basically told me the exact same thing that I’m pretty much going to have to get it fixed at the dealership because they just don’t have enough people around that’s trained to work on this type of car with it being a hybrid. I don’t think I’m going to spend 9,000 on a transmission when I can just get another car that’s not so complicated.. Hopefully everything continues to work well with your car. Thanks for responding ☺️

      Incorrect, they use LV (Low viscosity).
      The equivalent is gm dexron vi. I personally have a 2010 fusion 2.5 auto with 330,000kms on it. The tranny was slammin, hard shifts, very concerning occurrences.. i drained my tranny (4 litres cames out roughly "extremely thin, black fluid"). I dumped a big jug of dexron 6 in.. magically my tranny is back to 95% awesomeness. Zero regrets..
