Wish you were in AZ! A local ford dealer wants nearly $10k to fix this an a couple of other issues on my 2013 C-Max. The Transmission died after 102,000 miles.

Actually it's 12 total. The other side has 8 bearings that go bad as well depends 2 or 4s or 6s. These four in the back also need replaced but front is the problem all the time in my experience
My local transmission shop says no one is rebuilding these HF35 transmissions, so good for you. They said Ford is asking $8.5k for a new one, just today. My 2014 FFE with 107k miles has a lot of whine while driving, especially with regen, but is mostly quiet at idle. I've just changed the ATF for the 2nd time in 15k miles, and this time added some Motorkote (7 oz) and now it is quieter, but not quiet.
Exactly what my Fusion just started doing. 185K miles. So Ford must charge at least 4K to do this job. Time for a new car

Great video, My experience Is the Ford engineer required the wrong ATF. That roller bearing should never fail in proper fluid. Roller bearings just like that bearing will operate for years with small grease inserted. Great video.
What was the cost and part numbers and names of the bearings that you replaced

Yeah my ford fusion hybrid 2014 makes the same noise. There are 2 problems one are bearings and the other is the generator. The bearings got replaced and still makes that squeaking noise. They told me the right way to get it fix is to replace the transmission. There is no parts for the generator. It’s a bad transmission design by ford. By the way, even thou
You replace the transmission it will still have the same problem eventually.

Do the energi plug in hybrid aux oil pumps go bad? My wife’s 2014 charges normal but over the last month or so the EV mode doesn’t stay on, meaning the engine kicks on, and I’m curious if the aux oil pump is failing , forcing the engine turn on to keep the transaxle lubricated. The Ford dealer says it’s the BECM…
Not the pump. Ford dealer is probably correct.

Where did you source the bearings from? And could you get back to me about prices for sending one In for repair so I can weigh my options? Also what tool did you use to pull and press the bearings on and off? Does it work well? Planning this repair for spring if it doesn't explode before then
You get the bearings directly from Ford. We charge $2995 to pull and rebuild. I sell the rebuild kit for $995. If you brought me the transmission I would charge $600 in labor for the rebuild + $995 the rebuild kit. I will not install your parts.

Thanks for posting as it was very informative. I do all my own repairs typically, but this one seems beyond my capability ATM. From your experience, at what mileage does the owner expect transmission bearing failure ?
100,000 if the fluid has never been changed.

Is this the same transmission as a C-MAX.. if so are both the energi version and regular hybrid version the same. Or do they have different gear ratios or anything
The Hybrid versions of both the Fusion and Cmax share the same transmission. The Energi versions share the same transmissions. And yes different gear ratios, 2.5 vs 2.9. Parts are not compatible between the transmissions.
Thank you very much. I fixed this today same exact noise if it wasn't for your video I don't know what I would have done. I had a donor transmission from a regular CMAX and I thought I could put it in a CMAX energi I realized right off the bat it wasn't compatible because of a lower transmission fluid line. Thanks to you I was able to make a split decision to use the bearing instead. All is well it runs and sounds great. However now I wish I could just buy that same bearing so I can put the donor transmission back together and keep it as a spare . Where could I buy the bearing by itself?

I am getting a noise when the ICE is running that is kinda loud and whine, but it does not do it when the electric motor is on. Would that be a separate problem from this?
Same problem. Gas engine must be running to hear the bad bearing. You need a rebuild
Why this happens? Not enough lubrication/not changing oil? Too small bearing to hold the load? Overheat?
Probably because of the oil velocity goes thinner after time if you dont change out the fluid?

I get the bearings directly from Ford. You need your use the parts catalog. I also sell the full bearing kit for $995 which includes everything that needs to be replaced.
Damn.... $3,495 to fix this?? My Fusion Energei is probably only worth 6,000.... Welp, if I hear that noise I guess I'll consider it basically totaled.

Mine started at about 75k and I'm currently at 153k, with a $6,000 bb value I'll probably just run it till it dies with a $3k repair bill

Have you flushed or change the fluid to help you keep plugging along? I have a 2015 Hybrid w 110,000 and wondering how long it could last.
@@DanielHoffmann-tg1kg Just changed it at about 125k when the left front cv shaft seal and right CV shaft went bad.
I will add that I drive mostly on the highway with a bit of idling in the winter.
If I remember I'll come back and note when it dies, I might get ambitious and pull it myself.
Hey Mike, i am having the same problem, so you put another 78k with the noise, or have you replaced the transmission?
Those are rotor bearings, not stator. The rotor as in the name rotates, that stator as in the name is stationary.
Why wouldn’t you just post or mentioned part number that you used ?? You want everyone to call you to figure this out ?? Crazy …
