  • Chip walks us through the rebuild of the worst Ford fusion. HF 35 transmission we have ever disassembled. This car came to us with no fluid and not driving. We had to push it into the shop and discovered some carnage inside. The transmission was rebuilt with our kit and is now back on the road running and driving with the owner.
Reach out to us if you have a fusion or CMM hybrid, or energy that has transmission bearing failure, or is making the squealing/grinding noise . We can help!

Fusion hybrid is one of my favorite vehicles that I've ever had, out of 43 total. Super comfortable, quiet and always 45 mpg.

Just opened the ecvt front case to inspect the damage, wow. I this video you have, It looks like my trans has more damage than this one! and mine had a lot of fluid in it. Id love to send some photos of the gear teeth and scaring in the casing. Also I have a question in regards of HF35 compatibility between years. Already researched Ford part #s and all that, but im thinking you guys have experience in this.

    Hi Chip!
Just found your video doing HF35 research on my new-to-us 2016 MKZ hybrid.
Great info and so cool that you guys do a rebuild service for these transaxles.
Im curious how often you suggest owners change the HF35 oil? Seems there is conflicting info.
Ford/Lincoln says mine is good to 150k but that seems excessively long to me, amd this video scares the crap out of me.
Ours is at 109k now and runs super smooth, no issues at all. So should we change the flyid out soon?
    Please advise!
    Thanks 😊

What was the mileage on this one? And was this the result of a leak? Or simply not changing the fluid at the proper interval? I have a 2018 hybrid titanium and trying to make sure im doing everything right. Rideshare vehicle currently at 167k and running smooth.

Apparently the 2016+ ones are way more reliable and known to last for literally ever vs the first couple model years.

@@royaljohnson6331 That sucks, sorry to hear. Did you change the transmission fluid when it was scheduled? Ill have to get on that asap and change it more often. Ive skipped it so far. Also, are the majority of your miles city or highway? Or a mix of both?

Rideshare driver here, too. My 2017 hybrid SE just started making the high-pitched whine at around 178K miles. I did not change the fluid like I should have (I just didn't know, and now that I'm researching this, apparently, it should be done at or before 100K - or every 60K from what others say). Ford did it for me last year when I was at 140K miles. They didn't report anything unusual or troublesome (like metal in the fluid). I've discovered a leak around the cv joint that is likely the main reason that I'm having the high-pitched whine, which is probably one of the bearings on the stator side of the transaxle, from what I've gathered watching this channel. I think having that felt/carpet cover on the underside of the car prevented me from noticing the leak in time to prevent the damage that's already occurred. You should change the fluid. It's not too hard. You just have to jack the car up on all fours and make it level. The fill plug is behind the driver-side tire. The drain is near the bottom. I bought a $10 bug sprayer from Walmart (Chapin Home Gardener) and you can use the tip of the sprayer (without the nozzle) to insert into the fill port. Pump and squeeze the fluid right in. It's full when a slight stream of fluid begins to come back out of the fill hole. Give it a shot. Not too hard.
