Honestly I’ve been having way more fun going back and playing older games this year rather than focusing on all the new stuff coming out.

I think video games have already reached their peak when it comes to fun an simple playability. Sure, nowadays games are bigger in many ways and have long challenged movies in terms of presentation. BUT are they really "bigger" , meaning more fun or presenting much new, gameplay wise? A lot of things have been quite stale since a minute. Don't get me wrong, I play new AAA games, but I seldom would say this or that is peak or truly amazing. At least when we talk about stuff that hasn't anything to do with looks or presentation.

@@PakRT84I started horizon forbidden west on pc last week since it came to pc and I am 5 hours in and am already bored of it. The game is beautiful. But it just feels so samey compared to so many other games I’ve already played. Nothing against newer games. I still enjoy new games, but there is some charm that has been lost over the years when games were made for fun first rather than to try and make the most money possible.

Same here! I think it is just part of the "gamer" life that we get older and just want the old stuff we know. Or that is me just playing retro games and Table Top RPGs lol.

@@dylangirard4670iam with you. Especially also when we talk about Horizon, it's a decent game somewhere but I also can't get myself to finish it, even with it being available on PsPlus. On the other side I more and more get back to supposedly simpler and more straightforward games that offer fun game play but don't send me into a world with tons of repetitive open world mechanics that in the end do nothing but waste your time.

Maaaaaaan GT2 was THEE game for my older brother & his mechanic friends. I can still remember all of them coming in through the front door with memory cards in hand stating they had modded their cars to win that quarter mile record. Also, GT2 has the best opening cinematic out of the entire franchise.

@@KelzCasa Not just Gran Turismo but gaming in general.. Over the past week my internet/cable got cut off for a few days.. On my Xbox One I couldn't even view my digital game library without internet.. Games I actually purchased with my own damn money I wasn't even allowed to view without an internet connection.. I Couldn't watch Bluray or DVD's on my Xbox One either without connecting through the xbox store... Good thing I own a ps4 and PC. That really made me appreciate picking up physical copies of games but the fact I couldn't even watch a Bluray or DVD on my Xbox without an internet connection really left a bad taste in my mouth and I usually play my Xbox more than any of my other consoles mostly because of Gamepass. The car surfaces are less glossy in GT3 and GT4 and that makes it look more realistic. The main wish I have is that I could play it with pressure sensitive triggers for throttle and brake. I literally just picked up a copy of GT2 for like $5 at a retro fest a few days ago. I thought the graphics would turn me off, but its an awesome game so far. The sim disc is structured very similarly to GT7, im digging it

I was thinking today at work that it would be cool if they modernised this and Gran Turismo 1 and guess what's sitting in my suggested videos tonight when I get home. Phones must be able to read minds now haha

I actually went wild over Gran Turismo 4 recently. I feel like that might be one of the best car games ever. I got Gran Turismo 7 and actually liked that one but 4 is still the champion for me. I'll have to check this out. I played a bit of Gran Turismo 3 and 4 as a kid but I was skateboarding and going to a lot of parties as a teenager when those came out so I didn't put much time into them

I emulate GT1, 2, 3, and 4 using PS1 and PS2 emulators on my racing rig PC in order to use my wheel and pedals for all the games. The PS1 emulator emulates a NeGcon controller with auto-center enabled and 200-degree wheel turn set, and the PS2 emulator emulates a Logitech GT Force wheel for GT3 (set to 200-degrees on the wheel) and a Driving Force Pro for GT4 (for 900-degree wheel) - force feedback on both GT3 and GT4 work.
I've also tried to set up a config for my GimX module and I can get my Logitech G29 controls to work on GT3 on an actual PS2, but I haven't figured out how to get force feedback working, so there's no force feedback while playing the game. It was just a LOT easier to emulate the game and have the emulator handle the input translations - also removes lag from the equation.

I bought GT2 a few years ago, but the grave rate and grainy texture was too distracting on my 60 inch tv. I am excited to try this hack. I also learned a great deal about cars and race driving from this game. GT SPORT was ok. I really love the modification freedom and livery aspect in GT7, the game progression makes in GT2 was the best.

I guess I will mess up trying to explain this but I wish that among the updates, wheel distortion (when the image of a spinning wheel meshes to a single image) would be one of them. It’s just more real. When the wheels spins in those old games they keep the same look, no distortion, just like when you’ll see it through a matching FPS camera. It’s awkward. If someone knows about this visual phenomenon I’d appreciate if you explain to me how is it called lol
