Hey Captain, Thank you. This site is only a few months old so hopefully more people will see it. I just watched all of your houseplant playlist and I need to go back and check out more Iowa and insulator videos. Have you seen the other houseplant videos here?

Hi, great info. I am having a problem with both my Easter cacti. Started in my orange flower one and not it's moved over to my pink one. Wasn't aware of anything going on and they were placed next to each other, touching basically. :( Wondering if you could possibly help. My local extension is basically out for the holiday season and the local nursery couldn't help. Center stalks of plant getting coated over and (are hollowing out eventually) round white spots on the segments along with white spots that look almost like an erasure mark. The orange cactus center leaves have been coated over years, and was just repotted earlier this year. I got both of them in 2016 and they have bloomed each year. I do not see any pests on the segments of the plant anywhere, at least on the topside. I actually cut the orange one back drastically trying to take the stalks with the "hollowed" out segments. Any help would be awesome. I did notice over the years that the orange one did not grow anywhere like the pink one. Both bloomed beautifully this past year (2022). Hopefully I can find out what is going on. I did put a systemic product in the pink one to try and head it off but I'm seeing more white spots. TY

Hi 4shore, my first thought is some kind of mealy bug as they are white and they would leave the stems coated in sticky sap, and possibly the hollow part symptom is a reaction by the plant to the mealy bugs. Can you send me some pictures at info@greenerview.com? I will take a look and see if we can't figure this out.

@@agreenerview Thanks for the quick response. I will send you 2 zip folders with pics. I labeled the pics and circled the problem areas. I don't see any bugs of any kind right away but obviously something is going on with these. Checked my other cacti and I'm seeing some signs of spreading. Thanks for taking a look.
