I’m in love with my first Easter Cactus, also no one talks about the flower closing at night and then opening in the day. That is so amazing. Growing in Florida 🥰thank you for the video. Great video.
Do t know where my comment went but here I go again. I love my first Easter Cactus, growing here in Florida, no one speaks about it opening in the day and closing at night. That is fascinating to me. Thank you for a great video.
Hey there, thanks so much for your informative video 😊 I am new to the Easter cactus and do have a question about dead heading once the flower drops off. Do you take off the flower "node" part (Not sure what to call that :)) that it comes out of or do you leave that? Thanks so much...
Hi, I know I am late to the game from when you first posted this. I found this very informative. TY so much. I bought 3 of these (orange, red and lavender) at a big box store last Spring while in bloom. I summered them outdoors in protected area Growing well indoors now in an east window. Your tips were very helpful. Just wanted you to know that. TY and take care
Great video. I just bought the pink one, the color is incredible! My appreciation for these types has really grown, it's fun to get them to rebloom :) So far I've only gotten the thanksgiving cactus to rebloom, and I pretty much did what you instructed, oh and I REALLY cut down on watering it in the fall, like I pretty much stopped. I heard that from a few people and it worked. I think the combination of shorter days, cool temps and very low watering did it (If it's warm though, maybe you shouldn't cut down on the watering). Thanks :)
Exactly! they are awesome plants! I do the same with my thanksgiving cactus. Once the night time temps cool, i just leave it be and watch to make sure it doesnt scorched from the change in light. I don't do anything with the easter cactus other than move it to a cooler location with brighter light round january or feb. usually this works, but not always. :/
I have had my Easter cactus for about 2 months, and I see that all the new growth is curled. Any advice?? Should I re-pot it? I have it in the same pot I bought it in. It is in a east facing window.
Hello! I just let them fall off. Once they've started to fade you could remove them, but I leave them just incase there was some pollination and I might get some seeds.
Thanks for the lesson. I subscribed and enjoy. I want to buy some. I can't find a place that sells Easter or Spring Cactus. Do you sell them? May I order one and see how it does? I do hope so. Let me know. Thanks. Nancy.
Hi! Thanks for the great info. Do you think it’s too late to force my Easter cactus to bloom? I didn’t know about the need for increased darkness until now (mid-March). Thanks!
I live in San Antonio. It’s so super hot here. Had my Easter cactus since May. Now it’s August. No blooms. Will I have to wait till February to see blooms? Will miracle grow blue water fertilizer help it?
I bought this plant for the bumble bee colony living in a bird house on my porch. I assumed if hummingbirds like them than the Bumblebees will like them too.
I bet they do! Looks like a plant they'd be all over. I've never been able to have them outside and blooming when the hummers were still around, always too late and cold in the year.
I love these too. More then xmas ones. Why is it that I don't see these huge like their cousins ... Mine have NO buds Maybe later on. I took better care this year of them too. Next year I'll ingore them and see what happens. Lol
Haha! I have noticed that a lot plants seem to best when I stand back and stop smothering them, and these are definitely one of those plants! That's a good question, i'm not sure why we mostly only see them in small pots for sale. I'm guessing they root easily, but don't put on height quickly, so maybe they just don't fit the mold for larger pots? Or maybe they break more easily so don't ship as well... i don't feel like mine are anymore delicate though than my thanksgiving cactus. Hmmm.....
I only have one Easter cactus, a beautiful red one.I'm waiting for them to be on sale in my local store then I'm sure a couple more will follow me home:)
I got my Christmas cactus to bloom using longer nights only(stuck in a closet). I don’t think the temperatures changed much for it except dropping a few degrees from around 71 to 68. Would this method work for Easter cacti? I just got a small ish one in a 2 inch pot but it does have bark at the base so I assume it’s old enough to bloom
To my knowledge that is totally fine. It's likely bc the new growth is more delicate to high light and as it matures it greens up bc the plant cells are more sturdy and rugged. 😊
Good video! My mom gifted me an Easter Cactus last month since my Christmas one did so well (she is jealous of my green thumb and the plants that thrive when I rescue them from her). The flowers were so beautiful, but it was root bound and in such a small pot, so I gave it a more roomy home. All the flowers fell or died a few weeks before Easter and now I think I know why, it was in shock!! Still doing well and actually have 3 new buds.
I got an Easter cactus when it was in bloom two years ago. It said to put it in darkness in order for it to bloom. So I did last year and it never bloomed. Do you put your in darkness? It hasn’t bloomed since the first time I bought it. Any suggestions?
It’s the thanksgiving one, I think. The one I got a few weeks ago has been dropping her buds and kinda drooping somewhat more than the one I bought yesterday. It’s been getting blooms here and there but they shrivel fast.
I agree! lol... but it's the internet, people love to correct me! Which is more helpful than annoying, but sometimes I gotta remind people to chill a little bit. lol. :)

Just bought 2 never had them before

I’m so glad I watched this... I assumed that the care was the same as Christmas Cactus. Thanks for info
Thanks Kathy!
I LOVE these over the Christmas cactus, too. Just love the flowers better!
Gorgeous blooms 😄
I love them!
I got two at Home Depot and I potted them up together ( white and pink)! So pretty
Oh i bet that looks so pretty!!!!!
Thank you so much. Thought the care was the same as Christmas cactus. You saved me.
Love them all❣❣😉
I like them all

I found another of one your videos and you answered my question there😊
Thanks for sharing God bless you
Thank you. My Easter cactus is getting buds. Is it too late to put it in new soil and a slightly bigger pot? I don’t want to shock it.

Thank you! I am so happy yours are doing well, they are great plants!
I love Easter Cactuses. I noticed they love water too!
They do! I love a cactus that likes a little more attention... not as prone to over-watering them. :)

Sounds good :) Yeah, I'll be curious how I do with the Easter cactus.

Do you remove the dried flowers after they are done blooming or do you let them fall off by themselves?
Hello! I just let them fall off. Once they've started to fade you could remove them, but I leave them just incase there was some pollination and I might get some seeds.
Thank you! You just answered my question about removing or leaving the buds 😀

So pretty!!!
one of my favorites!
Hi! Thanks for the great info. Do you think it’s too late to force my Easter cactus to bloom? I didn’t know about the need for increased darkness until now (mid-March). Thanks!
Oh you still have time. Technically you could probably induce flowering anytime of year if the conditions are right. 😊
Just bought plant spring cactus.. Should. Put this other pots right away? ... It small pots ..

Oh they should love that! Good thinking!
What do I need to do if the buds start wilting -- can I save them? Have I overwatered?
Hummingbirds ADORE Thanksgiving Cacti.
I bet they do! Looks like a plant they'd be all over. I've never been able to have them outside and blooming when the hummers were still around, always too late and cold in the year.
@@TropicalPlantParty I got lucky and the Thanksgiving type bloomed some for me in mid April. They showed up and just loved it.

I have this easter cactus for yrs, and I can not get them to bloom , can you give me some points on getting this to bloom,,thank you!
I only have one Easter cactus, a beautiful red one.I'm waiting for them to be on sale in my local store then I'm sure a couple more will follow me home:)
lol, good thinking! As soon as they are starting to go out of flower they should be a lot cheaper! Treat-yo-self!
Omg just osm 👌👌👌👌👏👏👏

Question. If allowed. Mine grow new leaves in a reddish color, then turn green. Is that good? Or some kind of issue?
To my knowledge that is totally fine. It's likely bc the new growth is more delicate to high light and as it matures it greens up bc the plant cells are more sturdy and rugged. 😊
What soil do u have it in how often do u repot

Thank you! They do throw a fit if they experience much change while in bud or flower. Sounds like it's bouncing back wonderfully though!
🍅 fertilizer?
that's right! Commonly used for succulents and cactus, they seem to enjoy the extra calcium. :)
Howcan we got the plant?
Can you make a live please?
Hopefully soon I will be able to! My internet is a bit dodgey, but hopefully this summer I'll be able to figure something out. :)

I have the same question…
원종살수있나요
Rapsidoplipsis! Ha ha!
It's a hard word! lol... my tongue just wont allow me to say it
@@TropicalPlantParty I used to have trouble with "binoculars".
4 blooms on one section.
Everything I know says that's saying something,
Gilcinea
OMGosh I need help. I’m worried about killing mine. Love this video!
Thank you! Why do you worry that you are killing yours?
It’s the thanksgiving one, I think.

My husband uses grow lights on the stuff he grows, should I use them too?

Easter cactus looks the least like an insect 😅
Fact, these plants are vulnerable. Population slowly decreasing...
if your not a Doctor, you don't need to pronounce latin properly! Lol...I butcher even English words!
