Hi Ashley, Many thanks for this enjoyable and informative video. I bought my first Christmas Cactus at Blackhawk Hardware Plant Shop here in Charlotte a little over four years ago. Love her. She keeps to her December blooming dates pretty much all on her own. I’m pretty sure I just found her happy place by accident .😊. A couple of years ago I watched the Garden Answer Channel re-pot a 100 year old Holiday Cactus that had been handed down through the generations and I was in awe. What a special gift! Take care. 👌🪴🥰
I have all three. You can also tell the difference with their flowers, which are all unique to the species. My Christmas and Thanksgiving are still blooming now
I really appreciate you doing research and explaining that these are not desert type cactus! Thank you! Following up on what you shared about them living in the rainforests, they also love humidity and absorb a lot of moisture through their leaves, which balances out their roots' needs for well drained "soil". Eager to try out this rePotme mix in mine!
Best place to find Easter cacti was at Ingles floral section, they had nice ones in hot pink, cherry and orange, picked up a orange one because I have never seen it before
Love your content Ashley! I picked up an orange (my fav) Easter cactus at Walmart and a pink from HD! The HD one was rough looking but it’s perking up for me.
Good info. You showed the difference between the holiday cactus but I think the Christmas cactus you showed is actually Thanksgiving cactus. Christmas cactus looks similar to Easter cactus. The only one with points is Thanksgiving. That is how I learned it. Can you clear this up??
nevermind. after doing a bunch of googling, it seems there are different stories about what is and isn't Christmas Cactus, it has a very interesting history. I do think the middle one you showed as CHristmas Cactus is also S. Truncata, a plant identifier also stated 98% chance it was. True Christmas Cactus is actually Schlumbergera x buckleyi. S. Bridgesii is incorrect, outdated reference. ANyway, I don't blame you at all for any misinformation. There is SO much misinformation about this online by various sources that should be legit. Also S. Truncata is widely distributed by retailers as "Christmas Cactus", even though its actually Thanksgiving Cactus. I currently have a large Thanksgiving cactus, two small Easter Cactus, and a very tiny CHristmas Cactus...trying to get a whole Holiday Cactus collection. I really enjoy these plants.
Awh can you help with mine? It's leaves are falling off... I took it to a nursery and they said it looks healthy but I'm thinking no... I've only had one or two flowers since I got it... it's been almost 3 years since I got it... oh and it's thanksgiving by the leaves. 😭

What kind of sand should I use?
My cuttings from at least 2 years ago didn’t do well in soil so transferred them to leca but still growing very slowly😢 I wonder why?
