- Welcome to Gochujang Mamá RUclips Channel! I am a Mom to a blended Korean / Mexican American family that loves to share what I cook in my home. I am still learning and enjoy the process of making home cooked food.
Today I am making a delicious and easy yellow rice. The use of ground turmeric gives this rice a beautiful golden color and aromatic flavor. If you do not prefer the taste of turmeric then you can opt to use saffron. Saffron also will lend a beautiful color and flavor to yellow rice. This recipe is very budget friendly with the use of turmeric and serves 5 to 6 single servings.

2 cups of rice, 4 cups of water
This is a perfect recipe, thanks Angelica! 🌼 Love that you show us how to make the seasoning on our own. There are so many preservatives and artificial ingredients/additives in foods now a days, that I’m constantly looking for ways to get back to basics and simplify for a healthier life.
One of the best tutorials on here ❤️😩 thank you so much

That rice is cooked to perfection! Btw, thank you for the link regarding the caldero that you were using - I just received mine and I love it! 💙👏💯
Thanks again 😊
Looks delicious!!! Thanks for sharing
I have some saffron ive been wanting to try out and I don’t find too many recipes on how to use it in dishes! Thanks for your yummy recipes
It's great in any recipes where you want to see some color. Think beans, soups, stews, etc. Just use a pinch dissolved in some liquid, such as Angelica demonstrates in this video. I hope my tips help you to use your expensive seasoning ☺️
0:55 the exact moment my soul left my body 😦
LMAO yes
Thank you for creating a nice yellow rice recipe
I made your rice the spices but minus the peppers & onions I used diced shallots came out perfect ! Thank you
This recipe is perfect! I love that your videos I've seen really don't seem too complicated and are things I have most ingredients for or will be able to find easily I want to make this tomorrow
Going to try this
I have to try this. My mom and I had this dish at a mall and the base of the salad was yellow rice, it was so good so I'm trying to make the same thing at home. I hope it tastes just as good, or even better!
I tried it! It's so delicious.
The whole dish, rice and shrimp looks wonderful!!! I never feel like I get enough shrimp though. Each one for me is one bite so I need more than six to make me feel full. Thanks!!!
I try it and my son love it.👌👍👍will be making it now more often for us.👌👍👍
Thanks for recipe.💓💓💓

Absolutely delicious tyfs.. I'm from Chicago and have had different kinds of yellow rice this is up there n my top 3 of favorites.. I add pigeon peas to mine and my family love it..

ooo I can’t wait to make this next time I make rice. So tired of plain white rice. (I prefer white over rice and peas)
Thanks for sharing. It was very easy to follow🤗❤️
Awesome recipe and thank you very much for sharing your video 💚💚❤❤👍
Omg that looks so good!
And tastes good too!
looks very delicious .
You would love the dish I had tonight at my local Mexican restaurant-Echo Frezco. I don’t remember the name, but it was shrimp that had been grilled and had a lovely char on it then was mixed with 10-12 cloves chopped finely and served with delicious yellow corn tortillas. They first wanted to be sure I wanted it fixed that way, but it really didn’t have an overpowering garlic taste. I thought it was great and had it with an avocado salad.
Great recipe! Kinda funny I made a "rice pilaf" yesterday to go with meatloaf and my kids love it! I used a cup of basmati rice, chopped onion, turmeric, chicken broth, dried basil, onion powder, pepper, salt if it needs it, and frozen mixed veggies (peas, carrots, green bean and lima beans). Add whatever oil you would like to use, saute the onions, after toast the rice and add the turmeric and mix it in then add your chicken broth, other seasonings and mixed veggies and let it come to a boil then cover and lower the heat and let it go for about 15 mins. After let it sit and then fluff it up. It's really delicious if you would like to try it 😊
Can I use curry powder as substitute for tu Eric?
This looks delicious! Tyvm
This dish is amazing! I tried it and it works.

Came here to know about the Yellow rice that i read in a Ernest Hemingway's novel "The old man & the sea".

Hello. That's looks delish and good. Watching from Houston Texas!
Hello! Thank you! Good to see some hometown love on my channel. 🙌😊🙏
thank you.ma'am
Wow, lovely stove top. When food high get the news stove? I live to rinse my rice before cooking less starchy too. Gonna try this looks good!
Tried this recipe and added some more things, it was delicious. Forgot to add capers as I usually do
Making this now! Only change I’ve made is some deseeded jalapeños because I didn’t have any other peppers.
I absolutely love yellow rice. I really dont wat rice much unless its yellow rice.
Delicious
Very nice God bless you.😀
I don't prewash my rice anymore cause it would break in smaller pieces. I don't know why. It looked like I made Mexican style couscous. But I do everything else from your recipes & I've enjoyed them 😋
Thank you very much
Im going to cook this rice with oven roasted chicken for my husband! TY!
You have a really good recipe for chicken fried steak that wakes up flavor. We have chicken fried steak twice a month because it's one of my grandchildren's favorite and I only know two ways of doing it, I'd like a way to open up a new flavor and a new taste, any ideas?
Great recipe. Where did you purchased your cardero. I love it!
@Simply Mama, do you add vegetables to the rice? If so:
* when do you add the vegetables,
* do you mix the vegetables into the rice,
* do you simply serve the vegetables separately, and/or
* what vegetables do you prefer?
I only know how to make Thai Rice (i.e., Jasmine), and Thai Sticky Rice; I learned such when I was living in Thailand.
Thanks to you, I am learning how to make Yellow Rice. Thank you for your excellent video. I subscribed after seeing this video.
P.S., The vegetables that I prefer are onions, cilantro, garlic, green onions, various mushrooms, ginger, bok choy cabbage, and lime juice.
This is great! I was buying the yellow rice for my red beans and rice dish but the Tony Chakerie (spelling?) was way way way to salty! I’ll be making this tomorrow. Thanks!
This looks so yummy. What brand of chicken powder do you use? I’m having a hard time finding one without MSG😩
You can also grow crocus and harvest your own saffron. The little red stamens are what you want, so research the crocus you need, before you plant, not all have red stamens. I've been doing it for years, so have a bit of a stockpile.
My favorite type of rice! I would eat it with meatloaf and roast chicken!
Love your little spoons and bowls where did you get them?
The clear bowls are from the Dollar Tree store and the wooden spoon is from my local grocery store. 😊
Can I make this with brown rice? Should I change the ratio of water
❤️🙏🌸
I am going to have to give this a try. Can I get some info on your cooking pan?
👍🏽
I’m making this tomorrow night with the stewed chicken and potatoes
Oh my gosh😱😱😱😱
Alright I'm newly subscribed now
Have you ever tried using Bijol powder? I prefer saffron but will use the bijol as well. The coloring comes from the annatto seed and doesn’t have a bitter aftertaste like some tumeric powders can have.
Thanks for another great recipe.
www.mexgrocer.com/4746.html
I have heard of this but have yet to try it out. Thank you for the info. Looks like I might try another way. 🙂👍
Pink Poppet my mom used bijol back in the day. Brought back memories lol
Are there any healthier organic brands of white and yellow rice? I know basmati rice is still white rice but is it healthy. I been eating more brown and black rice cuz I know its healthier. I still wanna eat white and yellow rice just healthier brand
But brown and black rice have more arsenic. Does washing it remove the arsenic? I usually wash it multiple times
"Shrimps to the Hell" ? Oooook, what name for a spicy dish!!!😂
Ahhh, that’s what caused my allergic reaction to a meal I had at a restaurant last year .... the turmeric was in the rice. I knew it was in there somewhere, but I couldn’t figure out where.
What kind of rice did you use? I would go for a longer amount of time. That's way too fast for my liking. Love the ingredients used though!
What brand of rice and what brand of chicken bouillon do u use
At 60 I ordered the box of Spanish Saffron from Amazon. When I opened it I realized this is gonna last me the rest of my life. I think my Niece who cooks will inherit any that is left and still fit to use. It was 45 dollars and I use it at least once a week.
Enjoy your channel ♥️ Could you make a Mexican red rice?
She already made a Mexican rice video
If I cook 2 cups rice do I have to double the rest of the recipe?
Doesn’t the turmeric give it a different flavor though?
Tumeric is very fragrant and adds a different flavor than saffron, but I was giving 2 choices for achieving the color. I do both and they taste great, but if you don't like tumeric then maybe try the saffron. 🙂
I'm thinking all that garlic and chicken granules will cancel out any slight flavor that the turmeric may give this dish, and that's a good thing!
What happened to the chicken broth with saffron? Why did you add water instead of the broth?
If vegetarian, what would substitute for chicken broth and boullion? Love your channel by the way!
Better than bouillon makes vegan “chicken “ bouillon. I’ve found it at sprouts and Whole Foods
Elizabeth XO Thank you
When making vegan rice, I use a broth I make myself. Boil at low heat: carrots, parsnip, parsley root, onions, celery stalks (or root). Season to taste with salt. if you want the taste more concentrated, just simmer at low heat and let it reduce a bit, or let the veggies cool down in the soup over night. It always works. If you want the broth thicker, add a potato to the boil.
how much safran you adding? sry i don‘t understand what you say
