The fronts brakes do not need to release the air brakes. It's pretty much the rears because by releasing the air brakes are basically releasing the parking brakes. Double chambers.
its not easy when its all rusty and seized. just did my 1st job on these today.... i couldnt even get the brake pads out with my hands despite backing it off all the way... had to use all kinds of pry bard

No. Steering axles don't having parking brakes, only service. That's why it still spins freely when you jack it up off the ground.

They're not all that easy, guys. I use big channel locks to squeeze that retainer bar down
