I have a 2017 Expedition (3.5 ecoboost) with the same light on the dash. I don't know if the harness is the same as on the 2016 F150 but I'll look for the wires harness under the battery box. thanks
I have a 2017 Ford Expedition Limited, starting the truck, I’ve never seen a battery icon on the dashboard, is that normal?? Does it even have one?? My battery keeps dying, after a few days parked, it’s a brand new battery, and I only have 21,000 miles on the truck!! I bought a new Alternator, but have not installed it yet, because I’m trying to troubleshoot it first, I don’t think that’s the problem, but I have it on standby
Thank you I'm having the exact same problem trying to fix mine

Yes even if it's slightly different the main point here is to check your harness from the alternator, most likely you're going to find a break.
