Saw them nearly 20 years ago in Houston. i think they were labeled as mathcore if that makes sense to anyone else
Not sure but I feel like the quote, "The docks held still time's hand with each wave" means that no matter what they do (or make progress in their lives') they can't change how they feel. I inturpreted that "docks = home or self", and waves will make a dock move = change, but the dock doesn't move. And this is a streatch, but maybe "still time's hand" is out of order and means "time's still hand" meaning that he's caught in the past.
Adding to this to me its about being stubborn with change that inevitably comes, not wanting to change despite it happening around you. People from your relationships can move on, with or without you. Theres this underlying connection of the dock and the waves clearly, to define them is up to your opinion. Much like people and their relations, it’s chaotic and complex until its refined and the patterns that make said relation work are uphold and then do we find peace like how the ending plays out.
Ahead of their time. And I’m sure glad I was around during THAT TIME. 30 years old and I’m still frequenting these albums on occasion. I forget how good these guys really were. Tempo changes/Melodies/rhythms. Never had a chance to see them even tho I’ve lived in the PCNW my entire life lol. Highly coveted albums
I also have never seen them live, but I did get the chance to meet and talk to them one time 14 or so years ago. I was working the night shift at a gas station at the time, and they just happened to walk in for their after show snacks and road beers one night. Somehow I didn't even see or hear the tour bus pull in, might've been doing in the back, but it was awesome regardless. They were pretty chill, cool dudes, got them to sign a piece of reciept paper, still have it in a folder somewhere.
