- Fall Of Troy - Cut Down All the Trees and Name the Streets After Them (Guitar Cover)
Time for a new album to cover - the songs on this album have been a huge influence on my song writing but Thomas Erak's parts have always just been out of reach. Let's see how this pans out ✘✘
This is so good. Thank you bro, good TFOT covers . You got it. 🙏🤘👊
fantastic! did you learn by ear? can you send me the tabs?
The timing in this song is intoxicating
Thanks for the comments dude! Yeah this is such a good album opener!
Interesting that you just play the last riff as the same up-and-down motion repeated, while Thomas seems to do it exclusively as the last-second detune and open chugs in all the footage I've seen. I guess that's a difference between the album version and live?
That's cool, I've never seen that!
For the record, first comment after girlfriend, still count as first. ,😉😋
Nice picking bro!!
Thanks! Definitely first legit comment... pretty sure that other one is a bot.
You're killing it dude.
Thanks dude! I'm really enjoying learning the album :)
I've been wanting to learn this song for like 14 years and finally got the sheet music. I'm still on like the first riff lol, the picking pattern/timing is super tricky, also I notice the A string isn't fretted, which makes it even trickier for me. Any tips you could send my way?
I don't have many picking tips other that starting slow and working your way up. It can be tedious but you'll get there eventually. I try to gently touch muted strings with the finger that is holding the D string; this also adds a bit of rhythmic texture to the chord.
Also, Thomas Erak is not the worlds cleanest player so just go for it, confidence will get you pretty far too, it doesn't have to be note perfect to sound good :)
Thank you I got it ;p I think the 6/8 groove and 32 notes overwhelmed me at first. I tried with and without the "a" string and it definitely feels more percussive w/o it. I totally agree with the cleanliness but we'll let him slide I guess since he writes killer riffs.
Dude I've been wanting to learn this forever as well --where is the sheet music available?
This is fucking perfect, thank you!
could you explain the stroke pattern you're using with your right hand in that first riff? im like hella stuck lol
Well it's in 6/8 but I sort of feel it like triplets with emphasis on the 1. "ONE and-a, two and-a". The second time around you'e tremelo picking the "and-a" for that speed up,... so it's sort of like "ONE and-a, Two [chukka-chukka] ONE and-a, two and-a". Play it real slow to lock it in :)
Your right arm is so interesting to look at lol
What is the tuning?
E-standard!
Are you starting with an up stroke? Is that first down stroke just a ghost stroke?
It's a downstroke! I think the combination of the video fading in and the fact I'm coming back from the D and G strings makes it look like a downstroke on the video.
Love this
Thanks dude, it's a great song!
Dude not one fucking note out of place. Surreal
Official tabs were a big help!
