Making 365nm & 395nm LED UV lamps. curing, Anti-counterfeiting, Banknote authentication, Fluorescent

  • I have handmade two LED ultraviolet lamps with wavelengths of 365nm and 395nm respectively. The fluorescence colors they excite are very different. UV lamps have many applications in various fields, such as anti-counterfeiting, currency validation, fluorescent flaw detection, fluorescent agent detection, jade identification, UV glue curing, etc.
    Note 1: In order to see the difference clearly, no filter was used in the video. In fact, ultraviolet light is invisible light, and the human eye cannot see the difference in color between ultraviolet light of different wavelengths, let alone without filters. In actual use, some applications cannot see sufficient brightness of the UV excitation without filters, such as fluorescent flaw detection.
    Note 2: 365nm and 370nm are easily confused, so be careful when buying the lamp beads. Distinguishing the wavelength of the lamp beads through the visible light portion is incorrect. It is not always the case that 395nm lamp beads are purple, and 400nm lamp beads are blue. It is very easy to make mistakes. The most direct way to judge is to use professional instruments to measure.
    Note 3: Although it is UVA long-wave ultraviolet, it is still recommended to wear protective glasses. Although it does not look bright, the energy of the invisible light can still cause harm to the eyes!
    Note 4: The shorter the wavelength of the ultraviolet LED lamp bead, the higher the price! UVA ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 365nm is not sufficient for sterilization. Sterilization lamps generally require UVB with a wavelength of about 240-280nm!

    so the 395nm is "just" a purple color and the 365nm is a real uv

      Thanks for your comment, both 365nm and 395nm are true UV rays, just different excitation wavelengths for different fluorescent materials

      The 365nm is much closer to the peak fluorescing wavelength thus making things glow more brighter and prominent than the 395nm. The 365nm led although emits a bright pale blue color than the deep violet 395nm one, so you'll need a filter to block out the visible light.

      On Amazon US, the price of just one piece of 395nm lamp bead is about 30-50 cents, and the price of 365nm is about 2-3 dollars per piece. Other accessories are cheaper.
