Kipkay, could you please give an intro to solder, I always have the messiest soldering and would like a pros help to guide me to having a clean solder point like yours
Great video as usual, but I'm not too thrilled having that many LED's in series. I like to make these LED bulbs using groups of 4 LED's in series, then place all the groups of LED's in parallel. Much better in the event one LED goes bad.
electronicsNmore With this design, driver is basically a ballast. Actually it'll be most efficient when using as many LED's as input voltage makes possible. I've built 5 LED kind of night light, made the ballast for 18ma, it draws the same power from the mains as the one with 30 LED's running at the same current. Having strings of 4 LED's (like 5 of 'em) and running them at 20ma each will result in 100ma drawn from mains, which is not efficient at all (12W in 120V countries and over 20W for others)
KipKay, can you please make a DIY speaker but one that has a usb slot and a aux plug I have been looking for a video in how to make it and i am sure your are the perfect guy for the job. I would appreciate it if you make a video on how to build it. Thanks for all the great videos.
Thanks for making these amazing videos I'm watching this channel since Nov 2014 I'm totally loving it. It reminds me my childhood I did all the same things :)
I`m always amused at some of the comments ,I like your videos ,to the point with out a lot of technical explanations My question is how bright is this bulb ,compared to maybe a 25 or 50 watt incandescent bulb
Very cool, I'll have to pick up this kit to try it. How about a Smart LED light? Using Bluetooth technology to create a multi color LED light that can be changed by an app or a LED dongle/remote perhaps?
That Guy With the Pointlessly Long Username That You Are Wasting Your Time Reading Right Now No they aren't. The project kit KipKay is selling costs $19.99. You can buy an RGB LED light bulb that can shine any color, and can also be dimmed, for $7.99 on Amazon.
Don't really plan to build one of these, although you never know in the future, but it was pretty interesting to see how one's made. Looks very complex though, half of the stuff you were saying was pretty much gibberish :P.
I liked it better when you used to use random household stuff to make fun projects, rather than electronics all the time. These newer videos are seeming to be just a way to sell your kits. I don't have a problem with the kits, but I kinda miss the old days.
As a DIYer and a car guy (mostly jeeps) I'd really like to see a 12v DC version of this, or at least of just the circuit prior to soldering all the LED's in. I've really wanted to make my own light bar for a really long time, but I can't seem to find anywhere to get the materials, or set aside the time to figure out the correct schematics.
This is a pretty cool project, it would be a good conversational piece. Say if you had a dinner party, and say hey guess word light bulb came from most people would probably say China or the store, lol, you can say no I made it most people probably wouldn't believe you, until you showed proof, lol What's the cost comparison from making the bulb to buying the bulb??
Oh wow they're all in series? Then against there is plenty of voltage in home AC for some LEDs however if one breaks or is not correctly polarised the whole bulb fails
Now if only I could figure out how to make it change colors. just need red, yellow, and blue LEDs to make the colors of the rainbow right? Then how would you get it to alternate colors?
great as usual @kipkay but since you are using a resistor to drop down voltage to the req voltage it would not be efficient. instead use a outlet mobile charger which uses transformer to power the circuit and use 1w leds instead they are much brighter and easy. They are much more efficient.
hi enjoyed your video im doing an art project for my friends wedding she wants led fairy lights in wine bottles the thing is how do I change the plug in wall bit. to just run on a aaa battery pack so it can be attached to the wine bottle on each wine bottle on the outside do you have any video's on this
Kipkay is there a way to create a light bulb that connects to Bluetooth or wifi so I can turn it on/off from my mobile or a remote of some sort. Because you know when I go to bed and forget to close the light its a though journey to go and turn it off. Ok its not a though journey but am quite lazy :)
Watch out with different colored LEDs! The forward voltage of a white LED is abour 3.4V which in total will result in about 130V (the 38 LEDs are in series). if you use red LEDs with a forward voltage of 2.3V, you'd only get about 90V. And since the only current "regulation" that is used in the board is a resistor you'd drive your red LEDs with way too much current and destroy them
You need bigger resistance, but everything else is the same. I could do the math for you later. EDIT: I was wrong, as stated above I hadn't done the math before posting this comment. Also you shouldn't use homemade light bulbs for longer periods of time anyways.
Kolt No it will not work. there are 38 leds, white leds use 3.0 to 3.3 volts each. 38x3.0 is 114v(125v if you use 3.3v) to use for 240v line systems you either need 2x more leds, or a way to reduce the voltage by 100v. There is no mention of this being only for 120v line systems or compatible with all power lines which is not professional in the slightest.
***** are you sure the light socket is 120 and not 240v with 6amp fuse. I have not heard of any dual voltage lines for housing where mains get one and lighting gets another.
I went to the site and it says there is 3 options available but there is only one price mentioned. It was 19.99 on sale today only. Added to cart and it went up to 29.99+whatever shipping option. Yikes
I don't know if the comments are getting to you Kipkay, but in your opening, you sounded a little mad... like you were reacting to people trolling about just going to buy a bulb before they said it. Everything ok man? Hey Kipkay, do you ever use flux or able to solder without it?
Ok, so people in the past would always comment saying "where do you find these parts" or "can i buy this" (ive seen these comments in his videos from years ago). So kipkay decided to do something about it and make them available to purchase. Thats what the people wanted. Now they complain that Kip is just self advertising and these kits are worthless and stupid....MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND PEOPLE
Kipkay, could you please give an intro to solder, I always have the messiest soldering and would like a pros help to guide me to having a clean solder point like yours
Ethan Bean OMG KINKY
SpeakerDude24 uhhh... What
Re read that first line
Ethan Bean Read your first comment again LOL
Lolololololololol my phone autocorrected kipkay
Hell yeah! I would love to build one of these. Even though I work at Batteries + Bulbs and get LED bulbs super cheap I still want to make one.
this reminds me of old Christmas lights if one burns out they all go out
I thought he was going to teach us how to make one of those individual bulbs
what do you mean by that? do you mean a single led itself?!
@@KingLordLele that's how led bulbs usually are

Oh thats what it stands for..
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) underrated comment tbh
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I see what you did there
I got mine in the mail today! Wait, why does it have a ghost costume in it?
Nice name
Kip kay kit/KKK
Hey! The first bit was a Full Wave Rectifier! Nice!
That lampshade thing was pretty cool!
Kipkay gettin sassy at the beginning
The cool lamp at the end is an Infinite light. Looks it up you can get a bunch of different shapes and colors.
Where do you get all of the materials to build the project?
They are too expensive
Are you trying to prank him or are you serious?
No they aren't they are pretty cheap
@@KingLordLele that was 5 years ago man
KipKay should start a guides series giving newbies to this kind of stuff a complete, detailed guide, Right from the basics.
You love LED's? I thought you loved lasers :/
Stefano DIY laser light bulbs in the next episode?
Maxx B yes pls
Stefano did you know a laser is actually a led?
30GB It's a whole diffrent thing...
Stefano he loves everything!!! :P

kipkay you rock you make awesome videos and you even have your very own products.
I like how he says "shang fang"

very smart move to offer the kits for your how to's... like it was the missing piece to the puzzle of your vids nice vertical move!
Hey there Mr. Kipkay great tutorial my question to u is. Is it possible to make a flashlight the same way? Please let me know
Very cool, I'll have to pick up this kit to try it.
How about a Smart LED light? Using Bluetooth technology to create a multi color LED light that can be changed by an app or a LED dongle/remote perhaps?
Is there anyway to change the LED types to have the effect where you can see your Veins like the new LED lights hospitals uses to help find veins???
But... An LED is already a lightbulb...
The thing is LED saves way more money than a normal lightbulb, because it uses less power and it's also long lasting.
***** What Randy is saying is that, you're pretty much using a light bulb, to make a light bulb.
They're much more expensive than this homemade version.

Holy shit it's actually bright.

Isn't better to use a rectifier bridge instead of the diodes?
How to make an LED lightbulb: buy a whole bunch of small ones and put them together. Thanks, KipKay.
kipkay I got the Sheng Feng kit for Christmas and I made the same one (The 30 piece ball one)
I miss the old kipkay with the life hacks and homemade gadgets
you're awesome Kip

I want to use brighter LEDS. What is the limit of amperage and volts? Can I use 36 220 lum LEDS? These are just 5 mm leds?
This is a pretty cool project, it would be a good conversational piece.

Warning!! not for 220/240V
the 2 caps have to be changed, the electrolytic has to be a 600V cap and the red one needs to be a different value
Oh wow they're all in series? Then against there is plenty of voltage in home AC for some LEDs however if one breaks or is not correctly polarised the whole bulb fails

Glad you finally made another good vid (no offense) and thanks for doing a walkthrough of the circuit.
Why did you bend the capacitor over on the Resistor? Doesn't the resistor put out alot of heat?
please kipkay make a video on how to make something regarding pro audio like mixers/microphones/equalizers/echo effects/wireless audio etc.
kipkay would you tell me which led is this and each LED Power Requirement and your circuit output voltage
ok this is oone of the coolest one i think
Cool. Thanx for the upload.
You should show us how to make that lantern thing! I got one for christmas and can't figure out how to put it together! 😕
And if you look just ahead, you can witness for yourself the unsponsored Kipkay video
beautiful.
I have a little experience in my high school they have a program that uses different tools from different types of machines and tools.
Do you have also a plan for this build for 230 Volts (here in Germany)?

dude ur better than PEWDIEPIE i like ur invention bro
Do more life hacks or good uses for items, thanks love your videos.
This would not work for europe would it? we use 230v 50hz not 120v 60hz
I was thinking exactly the same thing. Let's hope Kipkay sees this!
It should work because the bulb holder only sends some of the 220v or 120v
You need bigger resistance, but everything else is the same. I could do the math for you later.

really cool learning project
Kipkay, can you make a warm white version because i like warm white more than cold white
I know its "educational", but for the price of the kit, I could go on amazon and buy 3 LED bulbs...
love what you do, keep up the hard work.
With all those leds can we still say that the led lightbulb consume less energy then a regular lightbulb ?
3:41 sHeNg FeNg
Hey KipKay. Would this kit work on 240V Mains not just US 110V?
Hello, can you teach us how to make a bulb that blinks when you want it to and stay solid for the rest of the time?
You sound like a TV salesman lol
Just wondering have u build a mine quadcoter or will u do one?
thanks
To make the LED lightbulb, you'll need a bunch of LEDs.
Oh.
Uh..... I thought that was why I was here?
That's really cool lightbulb I love it!!:)
Cool video!!!
Is it possible to make the small LED that goes inside this bulb?
This project can probably also teach you how too fix an led lightbulb that decides it wants to be a 60Hz strobe light.
Actually, lower than 60.
How to make the soldering iron smaller for a better control
Can you hack an FM transmitter to boost the signal of the transmitter?
Hey Kip, have you found any of these bulb kits that have rgb leds?
SHENG FENG..!!! :D
Kipkay you any any idea about how to attached wifi kit on led light bulb
NYC one...
Love it ..
Why use two separate capacitors instead of one of equal capacitance?
Of you want to make a light for videos you can cut the head of the Leds

haha I cracked so hard win he made that irritated comment about just go to the store and making it yourself, thats the point lolololol
You can buy led from amazon or the store why bother you're self
Twenni Wan for the education. Did you watch more than 30 seconds into the video?
Twenni Wan can you english?
Your just as stupid as that kid on your profile pic
Wait wait wait when you say current going in one direction means your using DC?
I remember when these videos were about entertainment, not profit.
This is bleeding awesome !!!

Hey Kipkay, do you ever use flux or able to solder without it?
Kipkay, is this lightbulb dimmable?
To buy a kit is it necessary to subscribe?
super☆bright!
Hi. Is there a downloadable schematic and instructions for this ?
nice videos kipkay
Will this work for 230v too or only 120v
