Like the green revolution, the government can increase MSP for some pulses that they procure and can introduce MSP for all oilseeds. Government must de-incentivize the production of rice and sugarcane.

I think there's one more reason.. Young generation in Punjab is reluctant in joining farming business.. they either think farming is low profile or since they grew up seeing so much wealth and caught up wrong habits like drugs and liquor, it has left them unproductive..

Punjab has to first finish its drug problem which arises from personal and political greed. Drugs is finishing off its youth. It also has to tackle illegals who are taking over.
One more reason is the increasing salinity of the soil, due to excessive irrigation which reduces the fertility of the soil. Its should also be regulated and in the current trend when India is importing a major chunk of edible oil from outside if punjab and haryana focus over that, then it will be again revolutionary step a yellow revolution.... Punjabi farmers have lost hunger to work. At least 2 generations are dependent on Bihari migrants. opposition to kisan bill will pull them down further. While other states will use it to it's advantages Punjab farmers will keep sitting on road and spoil the discourse. Punjabis need to change there attitude. All its industries have moved out. Hero Motors grew after it came out of Punjab. Sports and knitwear is no more like to be in Punjab. Punjabis misbehaving with JIO reaffirmed that Punjabis are not stable and investment is not secure. Its a landlocked state but unlike Haryana and Himachal, Punjab does not focus on any specific industry like BPO and Pharmaceutical industry grew in Haryana and Himachal. Some measures :: 1. Capping the procurement limit on wheat and paddy 2. Msp on other crops 3. Guaranteed procurement of other crops 4. Crop insurence 5. Farms laws , aimed at giving chance to private sector. These measures will be resented by farmers for sure, but every reform attracts harsh criticism

When i was growing up we never went to market to buy vegetables. We grew everything in our fields. Later all we grew was rice and wheat. Water was going down every year. Had to go deeper every year to get water. Punjab is finished. We exploited it too much. And no govt has dared to interfere in this matter. Haryana now is disincentivising growing of rice. But punjab has no plans or even a hope.

I think crop diversification is the key to revive agriculture economy in punjab. Farmers basically grow rice and wheat because govt give guarantee for procurement on MSP. So govt shiuld give MSP guarantee in sugarcane,pulses,vegetables,fruits, potatoes so that farmers can out from the circle of wheat and rice.
Why? When all other states are doing it without msp, and doing good actually. what's the need? Someone's lack of education should not effect the development of other people of the country.

One more reason is the increasing salinity of the soil, due to excessive irrigation which reduces the fertility of the soil. Its should also be regulated and in the current trend when India is importing a major chunk of edible oil from outside if punjab and haryana focus over that, then it will be again revolutionary step a yellow revolution.... 3. Guaranteed procurement of other crops

Education is needed. Why only one state get incentives not others? And then these incentives are taken for granted and called "rights".
We have other states too man, punjab was the state which was 1st incentivised during green revolution, again if u see central procurement than punjab is heavily preferred ( they grow 9% rice but national procurement for them is 22%),

When i was growing up we never went to market to buy vegetables. We grew everything in our fields. Later all we grew was rice and wheat. Water was going down every year. Had to go deeper every year to get water. Punjab is finished. We exploited it too much. And no govt has dared to interfere in this matter. Haryana now is disincentivising growing of rice. But punjab has no plans or even a hope.
That's why we need New farm laws

I think crop diversification is the key to revive agriculture economy in punjab. Farmers basically grow rice and wheat because govt give guarantee for procurement on MSP. So govt shiuld give MSP guarantee in sugarcane,pulses,vegetables,fruits, potatoes so that farmers can out from the circle of wheat and rice.
Why? When all other states are doing it without msp, and doing good actually. what's the need? Someone's lack of education should not effect the development of other people of the country.
