    Extra comment: i see many people complain about the price. We might have talked too much about the price. I want to stress this knife is very expensive to make and it performed amazing. Its also much bigger than some other expensive knives we tested and hand ground + the 3D printed handle is also expensive to make. A truck is more expensive to make than a scooter guys... It's worth the price. I'm not saying everyone can afford it.

    Most Machetes have soft steel, are hard to break and easy to sharpen. This has a hard steel to keep the convex sharp longer, it is more comparable to a high quality bushcrafter that outgrew its sheath. Curious how hard the spine is, should be less hard somewhere to take vibrations and abuse. Well thought out blade geometry and it is ground for purpose with varying grinds along the edge. Not even that a bad prize for this blade, a lot more work in a knife double the size of a regular bushcrafter. Loved the Video!

Due to the titanium handle and UG tools way to marry it to the blade they are able to create a handle blade connection that is unbelivable strong .I do own 2 small fixed blades from UG tools and like them a lot. Listen I'm not a steel snob, I love budget steels and cheaper steels but for 700 quid I'd want something a lot better than 12c27, good steel don't get me wrong but 700 quid? Where are they getting this price!
    To put it into perspective, I got a cold steel kukri plus machete today for 40 euro, I could buy 17.5 of those for one of these and one of them would probably last me a lifetime.
    I love khukuris and own 5. Traditional, modern, modified, thick, slim you name it I'll love it. This is an unreal design but that pricetag is just unjustifiable.
    You could buy two work tuff gear blades for this price at the end of the day.

    • @jangierseugtools1845
      @jangierseugtools1845 4 месяца назад +1

      What steel would you want? I would take 12C27 on a 5000€ machete as it´s a perfect steel for the requirements. For sure it´s expensive but they left out some good reasons for the price. They tested way more expensive knives with less function and nobody ever complanined the price.

    • @Joshuaskehan-mk8cj
      @Joshuaskehan-mk8cj 4 месяца назад

      @@jangierseugtools1845 I agree it's a good steel, I have many khukuris from Nepal with what would be considered cheap steel by steel snobs but it's perfect for the job. Takes an edge quickly, rolls doesn't chip etc. @700 euros I'd definitely want 3V minimum, cpm D2, Cruwear, k390 (or other k3xx) etc.
      My main point is where are they getting 700 quid from. I understand it's custom/semi custom and a good design but there are knives with better materials, at a lower price point which are readily available and will do the same job.
      I could buy 2 WTG knives for this price which are also done in batches and have great study designs. Just doesn't seem right to me, 700 for a knife which you can buy other knives with similar specs that will last a lifetime for much less.

      My main point is yes it's a good steel but for 700 quid I don't want good I'd want great. 01, cpm D2, s30v, elmax, k390 etc. I have many khukuris from KHHI which people bash the steel online, but from my experience the steel is good. Holds an edge decently, sharpens fast and nicely, doesn't chip and so on.
      My main point is where are they getting the price from. For 700 quid I can buy two WTG knives which also are made in batches, from great materials and are solid. One WTG knife would last you a lifetime.
      Despite the great design and all the positives, definitely a big red flag being it costs 700 quid.

      @@Joshuaskehan-mk8cj You should read arcticles from the knife steel nerds. He would 100% support our decision on this steel and never use high alloyed PM steels like Elmax for this. It is simply a bad choice due to super high carbide volume, which leads to super low toughness. 12C27, AEB-L, 1.4034 are a perfect decision for a chopping tool. An expensice PM steel does not mean it´s good for everything. DBK did not show the innovative lanyard, which goes through the handle and is much better than at the end. The handle is produced with high strenght titanium, everyting is hand made in Germany and no industrial product. So many details that explain the price at least a little are completely left out.

    Actually you can print a knife. There is some company I think in Denmark that can print high hardness steel around 70 HRC. I was talking to them about making a fixed blade. Talk to me for details if wanted. They make all kinds of hard steel products that can’t be manufactured the normal way. They can print with multiple steels in the same piece.
