Maduros en Almibar or Sweet Plantains in Brown Sugar

  • Hi and welcome back! Today I made for you my version of maduros (amarillitos) en almibar or sweet ripe plantains in brown sugar.
    Here are the ingredients:
    3 ripe yellow plantains, sliced at a diagonal
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup of water
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter
    2 cinnamon sticks
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
    2 tablespoons of Puerto Rican white rum

    Thank you for making this video. I had to search through so many videos to find a video that made them the way I like to eat them. I may not make them exactly how you made yours but you gave me what I needed to make them soft and sweet. Thank you sooooo much. Out of 100 videos on plantains yours is the absolute best.

    I made them but used honey instead of sugar. And served them over vanilla ice cream. Oh my goodness. I was so happy like a kid in a candy store. So delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this gift with us. God bless.

    Looks good. I see there’s other ways to cook with plantain . I just learned the Nigerian way, now I wanna try the Puerto Rican version too.

    That is a tasty dish i know. Sprinkling in the Rum in that dish puts it on cloud nine for awesomeness of flavor for a sweet dish.

    Tried your recipe, and WOW my maduros came out mouth watering DELICIOUS!!! Best maduros I've had in my life!!!
    (P.S.- I used Malibu Rum! It's coconut flavor went perfectly with bananas!)

    Can I use white sugar instead of the brown sugar and can I use the cinnamon that's already crushed banana powder sense instead of the sticks I'm trying to make it today and I'm not able to go to the store so I have to use what I have here
