The Quiet Girl (2022): Movie Review (Films that Should Join the Criterion Collection)

The Quiet Girl is directed by Colm Bairead and stars Carrie Crowley, Andrew Bennett, and Catherine Clinch. It was nominated for Best International Film for the 2023 Academy Awards and is the first Irish language film to ever be nominated for Best International Feature. I give my spoiler-free review of the film and discuss how I think this film should join the Criterion Collection in the future. The film is currently playing on Hulu.

I just rewatched this movie, and I got even more choked up at the end this time. It's so beautiful, was my favourite film of 2022, and one of the best I've seen in a long time.

Thanks! I really do love films from Ireland and would LOVE any recommendations that you have. I've seen the bigger ones like Banshees of Inisherin, In the Name of the Father, Belfast, etc., and some smaller ones like Calvary and The Wind That Shakes the Barley.

I just watched this movie tonight on Hulu and I really enjoyed it. I've been wanting to see it since I saw it was an Oscar nominee. I also really liked the cinematography of the lane between the treesl. Can you explain what the Criterion Collection is?
