I cannot get enough of Colm, Catherine, Carrie and Andrew in their various appearances related the the film. Why? Because the film is incredible, the acting throughout is incredible but in particular the three main characters. I encourage everyone to find the film on whatever services acquire it because the experience can only be described as profound.

Alas, I fear we may have seen the last of such cast and crew interviews about "The Quiet Girl", as it seems to me it's pretty well had its run in theatres, though I'd be happy to be corrected on that. I first heard about the film in late winter of this year when the local arthouse cinema began showing trailers for it. When I finally saw "The Quiet Girl" in March, I couldn't believe the emotional impact it had upon me. The last time I could recall being so affected by a movie was decades earlier when I saw "The Bicycle Thief". I then read all the reviews and background information I could find concerning the film, as well as Claire Keegan's story "Foster" on which the movie is based. In the process, I learned that "The Quiet Girl" had been released in Ireland and the UK in May 2022, after having been filmed in the fall of 2020, which left me with an odd feeling of being late to the party.
Anyway, thanks to my local independent cinema and several spring film festivals in my area, I was able to see "The Quiet Girl" on the big screen three more times by the end of May. But I think it will be a long time before I am able to see it in the cinema again. One of the themes of the film is the transitoriness of things in life and the idea of the passage of time; e.g., in the way Cait's summer with the Kinsellas comes to a finish. The cinematography also captured that mellow, late summer ambience that, for me, is synonymous with all good things coming to an end. So I'm sad at the thought of "The Quiet Girl" falling out of circulation and becoming thought of as just another old movie, though I'm sure it will be on many Ten Best Films of 2023 by the end of the year. I've seen other films in recent months, but all except "The Seven Samurai" left me sitting in the dark of the theatre wishing I were watching "The Quiet Girl".
