hi Lauren. I purchased the Finger Picking 101 course a few months back but now it seems to have disappeared from my folders. Can you help me relocate on your site it or could you resend it to me. thank you.
Good Lord Lauren, I know this is two years old and you may not read this, but this is by far the finest and most accessible explanation of Travis Picking in the history of the world. Thank you so much.
Hey Lauren. I see a fair number of posts commenting on your looks and splaining something irrelevant to you. I just wanted to chime in and say you're doing amazing work. These videos are really helpful and you are a great instructor. Thanks for making these and putting them out there to learn along with. I think you're the best guitar instructor I've come across on RUclips. Thanks so much for what you do. For all the rest of the unhelpful comments, I'm sorry you are getting those. I hope you can tune them out and keep being awesome.
Jennifer, thank you so much. I do tune them out. Most of the guys don't know I'm married to a woman. So shh 🤣😉 Thank you for you kind words. I really appreciate it. I'm glad my teaching style resonates with you.
Once again l found this tutorial vert helpful. In the past l was hesitant to try to finger pick. It seemed like l was all thumbs. Now (thanks to you) l am very confident and feel myself growing as a guitarist.
There’s nothing wrong with your looks or charm, Lauren. Or your choice of a partner. And you are a good teacher on top of that. I did purchase your finger picking course already and I am appreciating it. Huge hugs from Oslo, from a Turkish/Norwegian guitar enthusiast who used to live in the Boston area 😊
Hey Lauren, just want to add my voice to those who thank you. I’m a 65 year old beginner-retirement finally let me try this. I work hard at the fundamentals, but old fingers, hands, and left forearm don’t always cooperate. Whenever I get down or feel like quitting, I go to one of your videos to get a boost of fun, progress, and inspiration to keep going. You’re the best!!
My husband's been trying to teach me travis picking to no avail, I nailed it after watching this tutorial a couple of times. I cried when it clicked!! Just discovered you this morning, thank you so much for sharing with the world :)
OMG! An absolute epiphany! Strings 6 & 4 on 6-string chords (G, Em, etc.), and strings 5 & 4 on 5-string chords (C, Am, etc.). So simple, so fundamental, and yet so entirely ABSENT, from most online instructions on the Travis Picking technique. Thank you for that seemingly trivial, yet incredibly meaningful, little tidbit!
Let me just say. After watching quite a few video's this is by far the best and easiest to understand. You broke it down perfectly and simple. The Chart is perfect to follow along also.
Lauren, thanks for the great video. I'm 70 yo, picking up a guitar for the first time in 54 years. Graduated from garage band to folk music LOL. Your help on Travis picking is amazing. TY
There are lots of tutorials on RUclips. But a tutorial combined with a good instructor is like uncovering a needle in a haystack. Thank you, Lauren. Love from India 🇮🇳❤️❤️
Hi Lauren, I am 75 years old and how I wish I had found you earlier. I so totally love the way you teach and so easy to understand you. You are the best!! I love watching you teach, I have learned some new tricks from you on the guitar. You are adorable. How I wish I had not spent my money on another site!!
Thanks Laren I really appreciate the way you break down lessons. You make things very easy to pick up I think you're one of the best teachers on RUclips
Hi Lauren I’ve been a fan for a while and you keep amazing me. I am 71 yrs young and you have a way of instructing that is easy to understand and your videos are well done, very helpful. I know it takes a lot of hours to do these videos and I am very thankful for your dedication. You are a blessing to all of us trying to tackle guitar. Hi Lauren! I don't know if you remember me. A few year ago I told you that my guitar instructor is Brian May (not from Queen). I have watched a lot of your videos and you are an awesome instructor. By the way Studio Arts here in St. Thomas Ontario is short of music instructors if you ever move to St. Thomas Ontario Canada I highly recommend you to help Brian at Studio Arts. Anyways I will try to keep this short but last August Studio Arts was having a 3 day music fest at Pinafore park. Brian informed me about and he gave me the schedule of what was happening when. When I saw that the guitar session for students was on Saturday I saw on my work schedule I can't make it but I also saw that on Friday night Studio Arts sponsored a guy that did a tribute concert to my favorite Canadian Stompin Tom Connors but before that Brian was schedule to perform with his band. I told Brian I can't make it on Saturday but I am coming Friday. He told me to bring my guitar. I came Friday with my guitar and people that I was sitting with in the audience asked when I am going to perform. I said I don't know. Brian set up with his band at 5p.m. and then said "Ruth come up on stage and bring your guitar." I was not expecting that and I was a little nervous because I have never played with a band before. We did Margaritaville and people were up dancing. That sure boosted my confidence. I will post another comment about the guy that did the tribute to Stompin Tom he is a good guitar player but bad instructor. Love your fingerpicking.
@@LaurenBateman Yes I am still playing. I am not quiting. I mentioned in my comment about seeing that guy that did a tribute to my favorite Canadian Stompin Tom. This guy Jeff offered to teach me guitar for less than what Studio Arts was charging. I was interested in seeing how he can teach me but I also knew I am not quiting Studio Arts. This guy Jeff he plays guitar great but he is the worst guitar instructor ever. When he first saw me he said I want to hear where you're at which I understand. I played Pretty Woman for him which I did make a mistake but he said you are far more advanced then a beginner. The song he said he was going to teach me was Wìldwood Flower (Stompin Tom's version.) I had trouble with the way he was teaching me plus he made a mistake with the way he told me to practice it and he realized the mistake but he also told me to not come back until I perfected the song. What kind of a teacher is that? To me a guitar instructor helps you through the struggles like if you are having a problem with a particular chord change. For example for a long time I had a problem with Folsom Prison Blues because of the b7 chord. I was practicing that song for about a year. My instructor Brian at Studio Arts did not tell me not to come back until I perfected that song we focused on other things but I kept practicing Folsom Prison. A week ago when I went to see Brian I said I am going to play Folsom Prison. He said o.k I will sing you play. At the end he said "Ruth you can play that with a band." I said o.k let's do Pretty Woman again he sang I played. He again said you can play that with a band. Then he said Ruth I am going to print something off for you which I know you can do. It is the guitar for Tennessee Flat Top Box. I impressed him with that on Friday although the hammer on was hard to do. He said Roseanne Cash would be proud of you. I saw one of your videos about bad guitar instructors and Jeff falls into that category
Hi Lauren! Just letting you know something. This past Saturday I went to see my guitar instructor Brian and his wife perform with their band. They were doing a music fest for 4 hours. The place was packed. When I got there at 7p.m. I was asked at the entrance if I wanted to purchase a ticket to win a ukelele. I said no I don't play ukelele. I found out later that the money raised from those tickets for the ukelele is used to pay for music lessons for people that have fallen on hard times and can no longer afford lessons. I felt so bad then that I didn't buy a ticket. I made up for it yesterday and made my guitar instructors son Brendan get very emotional. Brendan was working at the front desk of Studio Arts yesterday. I took $1000.00 out of my purse and said this is for your music Angel's charity which pays for lessons for people that can no longer afford it. He was so overcome and said Ruth you have a kind heart. This will pay for a lot of music lessons.I told him Studio Arts has done a lot for me. Music brings happiness into people's lives, it helps fight depression and nobody should stop music lessons because they could no longer afford it because of bad circumstances.
I wish there was a way that I can send a video of Brian May and I playing Margarittaville. The video that was done I was just over a year in my guitar playing. You teach the same way that Brian does. Brian at the time that video was done was encouraging me. He told me professional musicians make mistakes on stage but you just keep going. I wish I can share that video with you. My musician friend when he saw that video said I played it better than his musician friends.
Lauren, you are an amazing teacher. You are always my go to! Being a retired teacher and seeing so many teachers and teaching styles, you know what it takes to teach! You are awesome!❤
I’ve been avoiding playing for many months because I get so discouraged over it. I picked my guitar up again today and was trying to find some beginner finger picking tutorials when I came across this video. This was easy for me to understand (the chart was super helpful) and you explained it so clearly. It’s the first time since I can remember that I’ve played without crying out of frustration. This might be the thing that gets me to keep playing, thank you.
@@LaurenBateman yeah, I watched a few of his old videos on RUclips. He's got a crazy fore finger! It's got a mind of its own! Lol. Thank you for lessons anyways ❤️
Thank you, Lauren. I've tried other RUclips finger picking instructionals with mixed success, but yours clicked a switch. The chart helped me get the syncopation of it all and my playing is a lot better than it was. Again, my thanks.
After watching a lot of videos I am so pleased the way you teach us all guitar lovers. Thanks a lot Louren Bateman... You are the brilliant teacher who teach the many difficult techniques of plucking and different rhythms in a very easy way... Lord bless you more and more... Love from Abbottabad Pakistan...❤
I've played a long time, but never had formal training and find that I missed out a lot -- I follow several RUclips courses, and I only found yours yesterday .... You bring a VERY PERSONAL, thoughtful approach to your lessons ... Not to put down others, I'm sure they're sincere .. but you have a warmth... I REALLY FEEL this is a one-on-one class, not just another video - BTW - I signed up for your finger-picking class -- Thank you Lauren -- PS Love the old radio.. I can hear "Fibber McGee" from here :)
Hi hi Lauren. Thank you so much for making the Travis FS so much easier to comprehend. Realized that my friend had actually taught me Travis FS over 20 years ago but I did not know it and has stopped since then. I had also noticed that your thumb goes behind your finger picking fingers when you are performing FS. I noticed I am doing the same but many others said it's better to have the thumb pointing forward away from the fingers. May I know is it a must to do it? Thanks !
Great lesson, I'm 54 years old, I played a lot when I was in my teens in the 80's and then again mid 90's, just attempting to play again when COVID started, but I get really bad tennis elbow sometimes so it hurts to play, but I'm trying again, glad I found your channel, I like the way you are explaining it. Thank you 😊
Thanks Lauren, I have been learning it in a night class i have been taken, however my instructor moves things along quickly. You make it very very easy to break down and learn. 😎🍀👍👍
This is so helpful, thank you so much! You are one of the few teachers out there who seems to remember what it’s like to be a beginner, and I really appreciate that. I have a couple of questions, if that’s okay: 1. I can do the picking well enough, but I find that my hand and arm get very sore very quickly. If there anything I can do about that? 2. Would you recommend anchoring when doing this? There seems to be disagreement about this among guitar teachers, so I was wondering what you think. I find that it helps, but I don’t want potentially to pick up a bad habit that could limit my progress in the future. Thanks again for all your work!
You’re definitely a great instructor. Yr VDO is the first one that I can truly understand and follow, after searching for quite a number of VDO online. Wanna say big thank you!
I'm back with your video. A great one. Ok I got the basics of that. I play "Dust In The Wind". The C chord starts AB pinched together. No A D alternate. Each song apart from alternate bassline and next string according to each chord as you showed, the other fingers/strings vary in each different song ("Landslide" which i play as well). How to "guess" the strings played when you have no tab (working on a song with just chords, no travis picking explanation). By ear? Thanks Lauren for everything!🎶🎶🎶
Lauren...you are an excellent teacher and guitarist....thank you for posting...you are bringing a lot of joy to those that experience technique/bio mechanical breakthrough as a result of your teaching which allows them to experience the joy of music....good stuff...you are appreciated!
Hello Lauren i am a 66 year intermate beginer. I ran across your videos in the last couple of years i like many others are trying to get back to our teenage years of playing guitar. I saw this video about travis picking and loved it. Trying to improve and speed up. I was wondering if you have the tabs with your TT1T2T1? Thank you I was also curious that youtube is now showing me videos of other guitar teachers for travis picking BUT they seem to be different ? are there different type of Travis picking? Thank you Love your work Michel
I've been told this isn't the traditional way Merle did it, but it's how my guitar teacher taught me. I do have a full fingerpicking course with tabs and Playalongs. It's called Fingerpicking 101. www.laurenbateman.com/courses
Hi, just saw your video and want to say thanks. You explain it well and I hope to use it when I play at the Camden, NJ River Front Park next summer. Was injured in a hit and run car accident . An asshole ran over my foot breaking my ankle and other side foot, both hands have nerve damage so I must learn a new style to play as I can’t hold the pick without dropping it. Keep the videos coming!
You are an excellent teacher. You are by the far the clearest teacher I have found and I was actually able to learn this fingerpicking pattern today, so thank you.
Hello Lauren, I am teaching myself guitar. I would to say thank you for your great teaching method. Your lessons are easy to follow and very enjoyable.
Hi Lauren, I wanna semi quickly say lol..your an amazing teacher and a beautiful soul I sincerely thank you, for your time, kindness and lifelong experiences. I will forever acknowledge that it was “You” whom I learned (Travis P.) from. Again wishing you and yours a billion beautiful blessings this Puerto Rican 🇵🇷😁adores and respects you! Thanks. 😉👍🏽
You are a awesome teacher Lauren , I learned more off this video than 30 or more in the last year ! How sad huh ! But I thank you and plan on watching more of yours in the future !
Hi Lauren! I hope you see this! You mention not anchoring the pinkie. How do I keep my hand steady and not feeling like it’s bouncing around? Does it just come with practice or do I need to be thinking of something specific for picking hand position? Thank you!
It really depends. I personally don't like having long fingernails but I know lots of people who do. I feel like it's a personal preference. I don't like the way it feels personally.
You have a lovely manner and style to your teaching, I'll have a browse of your catalogue and see what I can pick up. Thanks for posting, I "got it" after this video having watched about half a dozen prior
Thanks Lauren.. I am just trying finger picking..Of course, I know of 'Travis Picking"..but had no idea what it entailed..I am so glad I subscribed to your channel!!
Like Tommy Emmanuel said that thumb is a digit with it's own mind ! Great video Lauren! Plus you keep our attentions . You are an excellent teacher ! Thank you ! That Crafter Guitar is beautiful.
Thanks for the lesson. Your teaching method is easy to follow .You bring joy to the hobby guitarist. A lot of lessons on here but few know how to articulate and that is what you do well Lauren.
Thank you. Learning guitar in my later years. Wondering if there is a logical breakdown of skills to learn as a progression. My mind body connections go on overload when I try incorporate everything in the lesson into a practice. BTW, am really becoming a fan, and side note I am a fellow Bostonian, born and raised in the city. Have been in NH/ME since 1980, but of course always a Bostonian. Be well, Jim.
Thank you. Just the best explanation at the right pace. Thinking about numbered fingers is so much simpler than thinking about string numbers. Seeing the pattern so clearly...TT1T2T1 was great visually as well as singing it. Loved the lesson. Now I really want to do it! Inspired!
Hi Lauren . Your a brilliant teacher you explain the pattern really well but taking me a long time to achieve a reasonable level . I've been trying every day for three weeks now . Is that normal .
Thank you Lauren , I've been an entertaining guitarist, for a few years but I wouldn't even put my self in the same category as some of the bluegrass and country pickers I enjoy , you and Paul Davids have been giving me a shred "pun intended" of hope
Hi Lauren, Great tutorial. I've been struggling with Travis picking for some time now, but your video has gone a long way to finally getting my head around this. All I need now is a little muscle memory and I'm there. So a big thank you for that. Greetings from Scotland 👍
Great lesson. So, good I bought your fingerpicking course. Really enjoying it. Can you explain John Prine's style. I especially would like to know how to play "I Remember Everything." Thanks so much.
Lauren, I've played guitar off and on since I was 15. That's 59 years. I've spent much of my life in Tennessee and N.C. where guitars are as common as grass, exposed to this all my life. I've sat on Doc Watson's porch on Wildcat Road and listened and watched as he played. I have envied my "Travis pickin" friends all those decades, until I heard you teach how to do this. Something finally clicked. I'm going to order a Personalized License Plate for my car that reads TT1T2T1 in your honor. So I have one question, and I'll have to ask my wife first, but if she says it's okay, will you marry me? That's just to let you know that "Thumb One" Loves You. Thanx.
@@LaurenBateman Okay. When I get the nerve to bring it up I'll ask her and let you know. She's pretty sweet but she's got her limits. She's put up w/ me for 50 years now and she still lets me play the guitar I bought her as wedding gift.
@@LaurenBateman Okay Lauren... Here's the deal. You were right. Gigi says I can't marry you, but she did say I can subscribe to your channel. SO I DID! Thanks for "Sound of Silence".
You are an amazing tutor.. ! However, I still feel you need to have some preludes for advance Travis picking stuff of few songs to attract intermediate learners like me. Many thanks...!
love your video's. I think that you have probably helped me the most in my attempt to learn guitar. My question on this is, if I watch other people show travis picking (and you show it better btw) They alternate between the three base strings on every chord? Is your version simplified, or theirs overly complicated? l
Yes, this is probably a simplified version. But the three bass string version also works well. There are so many patterns, it’s good to learn many to develop more dexterity in your fingers.
Hey Lady, I just finished watching this lesson for the first time. Awesome as usual. Since folk music is my favorite, I'll be trying to learn this method within the next ten days. Wish me luck! P.S. I'll be buying the "101" version in late January when I get paid.
I have learned so much from your videos from chords to how to start as an older beginner at guitar and it has been so helpful your an awesome teacher keeo up the great work!

Thank you so much! :D
Thank you very much! You just taught me to Travis pick.
I literally shouted "I'm Travis picking!" wile doing it.
Thank you so much!
Rock on! 😁
One of the best travis picking tutorial I've seen! Very easy to follow, thank you Lauren!
Thanks Lisa!!
You can do it! Keep on playing!
Awesome! But every time I watch Travis play, he only uses his thumb and forefinger. I can't find a video on that style at all?
This must be an adaptation from Merle. It’s how my teacher taught me.
Wonderful!
Glad you like them!
Welcome aboard! That's a 1930s tube radio. Doesn't work but I found it at an antique shop in NH and loved it.
Thanks !
Whatever is comfortable.
@LaurenBateman thank you so much sincerely appreciated
Great lesson, I'm 54 years old, I played a lot when I was in my teens in the 80's and then again mid 90's, just attempting to play again when COVID started, but I get really bad tennis elbow sometimes so it hurts to play, but I'm trying again, glad I found your channel, I like the way you are explaining it. Thank you 😊
First time I played guitar chords without looking. Thank you. You're the best.
Happy to help!
This is the only video on youtube that actually explains how to do it. Cheers!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Lauren, I have been learning it in a night class i have been taken, however my instructor moves things along quickly. You make it very very easy to break down and learn. 😎🍀👍👍
You can do it! Thanks for watching!
This is so helpful, thank you so much! You are one of the few teachers out there who seems to remember what it’s like to be a beginner, and I really appreciate that. I have a couple of questions, if that’s okay:
Thank you. The soreness is likely from tension. The finger anchor is a preference. I like it but I know my classical teacher did not like me doing it.
You’re definitely a great instructor. Yr VDO is the first one that I can truly understand and follow, after searching for quite a number of VDO online. Wanna say big thank you!
You're very welcome!
I always had trouble with getting the thumbpick on the beat. Your 1 / 2+/ 3+ /4+ cured it fast….thanks muchly
Glad it helped!
Ear is going to be something you will need to develop for that.
@@LaurenBateman By ear. So I was in the right direction. Thank you Lauren!
This has been the simplest explanation of what I’ve been trying to figure out! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Lauren...you are an excellent teacher and guitarist....thank you for posting...you are bringing a lot of joy to those that experience technique/bio mechanical breakthrough as a result of your teaching which allows them to experience the joy of music....good stuff...you are appreciated!
Steven thank you so much!
Great lesson - exactly what this 53 year old advanced beginner needed. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
You are an excellent teacher. You are by the far the clearest teacher I have found and I was actually able to learn this fingerpicking pattern today, so thank you.
Wow, thank you!
Hello Lauren, I am teaching myself guitar. I would to say thank you for your great teaching method. Your lessons are easy to follow and very enjoyable.
You're so welcome. 😊
Excellent explanation! Ive done this before but was never explained the basic rules of the string picking. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
You have become one of my favorites on RUclips thank you! God Bless
Thank you so much!
This guide broke it down for me to the point where I could learn Travis picking. Thank you Lauren!
You're so welcome!
Great stuff Lauren, sounds lovely when speeded up.Not easy to explain this TRAVIS Picking, but as always you break it down so well, excellent lesson
Such a great sound. And so much more you can do with it outside of the straight pattern.
Thanks. 😉👍🏽
You're so welcome. Glad to help.
Are you still available on line I'm learning more about guitar watching you, Lauren you are awesome
Yes! Thank you! Check out my course here www.laurenbatemanguitar.com/course
You are a awesome teacher Lauren , I learned more off this video than 30 or more in the last year ! How sad huh ! But I thank you and plan on watching more of yours in the future !
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Lauren! I hope you see this! You mention not anchoring the pinkie. How do I keep my hand steady and not feeling like it’s bouncing around? Does it just come with practice or do I need to be thinking of something specific for picking hand position? Thank you!
So many people do anchor the pinky. Since doing this video, I’ve accepted that it is what is and that it’s totally acceptable.
Question for you Lauren. Would it be best to have longer finger nails to try or help with Travis Picking?
It really depends. I personally don't like having long fingernails but I know lots of people who do. I feel like it's a personal preference. I don't like the way it feels personally.
Thank you Lauren. I appreciate your feed back. 😁
Best teacher on RUclips or anywhere else for that matter. Thank you Lauren ❤
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this ..love the way how u breakdown and teach every bit of the pattern ❤
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the lesson.
So far THE BEST instructional video on Travis Picking! Thank you!
Wow, thanks! I appreciate your comment Valerie.
You are more than helpful I have been trying to play properly for years and you are making easy for me I can't thank you enough 😊
Glad to help!
Hi Lauren. First of all thank you. Can you please play Lucille...
I will add that to the song request. Who is the artist?
One of the best demos I've seen on this, thank you. I just realized this is the picking Peter, Paul and Mary used.
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it!
You have a lovely manner and style to your teaching, I'll have a browse of your catalogue and see what I can pick up. Thanks for posting, I "got it" after this video having watched about half a dozen prior
Hey Ray, thank you so much. That makes me so happy that my lessons helped you.
Thanks Lauren.. I am just trying finger picking..Of course, I know of 'Travis Picking"..but had no idea what it entailed..I am so glad I subscribed to your channel!!
You’re welcome 😊 Thanks for the sub!
All the way from Malaysia. Thanks Lauren. You ARE a great teacher. Kula
You're so welcome!
Like Tommy Emmanuel said that thumb is a digit with it's own mind ! Great video Lauren! Plus you keep our attentions . You are an excellent teacher ! Thank you ! That Crafter Guitar is beautiful.
Thom, yes it is! Thank you. I love my Crafter.
I've spent so long on trying to figure out this picking pattern, and I understood it after one watch. Excellent, I can't wait to watch more videos
Glad it helped! Thanks so much for watching :D
love the radio..my grandmother had one of those and we used to play with it all the time when we were kids. Awesome !!!
Oh awesome. It's from the 1930s I believe.
Thanks for the lesson. Your teaching method is easy to follow .You bring joy to the hobby guitarist. A lot of lessons on here but few know how to articulate and that is what you do well Lauren.
That makes me happy. Glad to help.
Thanks a lot, I love the diagrams. It really really helps me, I dont know why but I almost have to see it that way before I understand properly.
Glad it helped!
I love that your facial expressions seem to match the way I feel trying to make this work in my head.
🤣🤣🤣
Rock on. A fellow Bostonian. Yes there is a logical breakdown and I put it into a course!

Thank you. Just the best explanation at the right pace. Thinking about numbered fingers is so much simpler than thinking about string numbers. Seeing the pattern so clearly...TT1T2T1 was great visually as well as singing it. Loved the lesson. Now I really want to do it! Inspired!
Oh awesome!!!! So happy to help.
Your not only an exceptional teacher but adorable too !!! 😉
Thanks!
you are a great teacher. There are many good player but not many like you can both play and teach at a very high level.
Thanks Maggie! I appreciate that 😃
Hi Lauren . Your a brilliant teacher you explain the pattern really well but taking me a long time to achieve a reasonable level . I've been trying every day for three weeks now . Is that normal .
Thanks for watching! Completely normal. Don't rush and always have fun
Thank you Lauren , I've been an entertaining guitarist, for a few years but I wouldn't even put my self in the same category as some of the bluegrass and country pickers I enjoy , you and Paul Davids have been giving me a shred "pun intended" of hope
You're so welcome!
Hi Lauren, Great tutorial. I've been struggling with Travis picking for some time now, but your video has gone a long way to finally getting my head around this. All I need now is a little muscle memory and I'm there. So a big thank you for that. Greetings from Scotland 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hi there good teacher. Can I please enrol with you for finger picking? I miss Travis?
You can:

Thx U r a good instructor U r helping me a lot it is appricated ooo
You are welcome
Great lesson. So, good I bought your fingerpicking course. Really enjoying it. Can you explain John Prine's style. I especially would like to know how to play "I Remember Everything." Thanks so much.
Yeah, I mean John's got some cool stuff. I did Souvenirs for a student.
Love Travis picking and this is the best lesson I've seen on it. Thank you! 🤘🎸
I think your biased T 🤣
@@LaurenBateman Lol! I think your right. Biased in favor of excellence. 😂
Thanx.
Ha ha. Terry love the plate idea. Check with your wife. I have a feeling she might have a objection.
Glad you liked the lesson and so happy to help.
Great lesson Thank you!
You are an amazing tutor.. ! However, I still feel you need to have some preludes for advance Travis picking stuff of few songs to attract intermediate learners like me. Many thanks...!
Thank you for the suggestion! Will keep this in mind :)
What a great lesson, i thought i never get this right, but in the end i got there.
Awesome!
love your video's.
How do you position your right hand. I have a hard time getting the strings to ring out. I also have a tendency to pull away from the strings.
I go over this in my fingerpicking 101 course. You might have access already!
@@LaurenBateman I do have this course and thanks again for responding
You're the best guitar I've had. There are many great players but it doesn't make them great teachers. Thanks again Lauren. 👍🙂
Wow, thank you!
On a chord like C, is it still Travis picking to bounce your third finger between the C and low G?
Yeah, just an alternating bass pattern is all.
I watched your video w/o the guitar and I think it is VERY clear. I will watch it again and hope I will be able to Travis pick soon , thanks
Thanks for watching!
Lauren. I appreciate your lessons and style so much!! It feels wonderful to learn new stuff!!! Thku!
You're so welcome. Glad that you find my tutorials helpful.
Fantastic, I dont know how I missed this lesson
Enjoy!
Hey Lady, I just finished watching this lesson for the first time. Awesome as usual. Since folk music is my favorite, I'll be trying to learn this method within the next ten days. Wish me luck! P.S. I'll be buying the "101" version in late January when I get paid.
Woo hoo! Let's go for it!
A first class tutorial...10/10
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Lauren do you have a finger picking course available? And if so will it teach me to apply your patterns to songs like The Scientist?
Here is my fingerpicking course: www.laurenbatemanguitar.com/fingerpicking
Hey Lauren! Ive watched Merle! He mostly uses the Thumb and index. John prine does mostly the same.
I have learned so much from your videos from chords to how to start as an older beginner at guitar and it has been so helpful your an awesome teacher keeo up the great work!
Glad it was helpful :D thanks so much for watching!
Brilliant lesson I got it straight away and struggle with other channels. Thank you 🙏
Sinead, glad to help
I watch your videos more than another, you make learning loveable and easy. Thank you
You're welcome :D Glad you liked them.
Thanks Lauren for this clear and concise video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
