Interesting trip I've only done bit of that line; Darlington to Bishop Aukland and Wolsingham to Stanhope, missing the Eastgate bit too.in about 1985 BR use to do a summer Sunday only Darlington to Stanhope.otherwise it's been bus up there;Weardale Motors and the summer only United service Keswick via Alston to Durham and Middlesbrough.
Great video. I own the Train Simulator version of this route and it was great to see how it is today in its current form. The volunteers have done a great job by the looks of it.
At some time in the past the line used to follow the river through Westgate all the way to its terminus at Wearhead - across the road from the dam. Some parts of the original alignment between Wearhead and Westgate still exist to this day.
Not really they are almost on top of each other and would have been the same platform back in steam days but now preserved line to Main line with facing movements can't be done.. Would be nice if the platforms connected, though.

In March 2020 the line has been bought by The Auckland Trust. Their plans are mentioned in several local newspaper articles.

great video through lovely countryside
Most interesting and the very useful location identifiers were an added bonus. Thanks
This line is operational for 15 miles (Bishop Auckland - Stanhope) and has a further 3 miles non operational (Stanhope - Eastgate).

When does the running season begin please ? . And do you have Steam Trains on your line as visitors etc .
Pity they can`t run into the BR - Network rail Bishop Auckland station!
