Who in the world put the box in the same room as the washer and drier? 10:00 put vaseline on the box and it will hold the gasket up. It will also come next time without having to scrap it off.
No, you will never get as good of a seal, the metal has a lot old gasket residue material that just doesn't come off all the way. It will never stick. You will never get it clean enough, plus in three years when this gasket breaks down and leaks again it will be easier to clear up to replace again. The kits are 16-20 bucks, they are junk
The kit is 20 bucks from goodman which comes with all the gaskets, the cheap plastic breaks down and always cracks. If it isn't cracked now the old pan will crack. Makes no sense to not replace them both. Gaskets only come in the replacment box kit
Sucks that there was no gasket.for the inducer, usually a new one comes with the new collector box. I carry a small putty knife for scraping old gaskets off. Be safe out there!
Such a typical job. That was a pretty tight location at least it wasn't a crawl space. Hey Joe is that your number can I keep it? I hate that question. Why don't the MFG supply the caps? I replaced a Lennox box condensate trap recently and the original had a PVC cap glued on so I had to shimmy across the crawlspace and back to the van grab a new one. I found an SK speed wrench is perfect for tightening collector boxes and Weil McLain cover plates. RTV seems better than most newer gaskets anyway.
The old gasket wasn't missing it degrades badly and turns into almost a powder. If you are talking about the new gasket he installed it on the new condensate pan and the new ventor motor gasket was already installed on the pan
In mine Goodman, two hose pipes but there is manufacturing issue in drainage. A two centimeter tilting of entire furnace with pad towards hose will solve the drainage issue. I did it in my furnace.
That has been a issue for decades from them, cheap plastic and junk gasket. How cheap 20 bucks in replacment pants cheap, pan and gasket. Goodmans are garbage for a reason
The gasket 99% of the time gets so compressed and crumbles away because they use cheap materials. The condensate boxes can crack because of cheap plastic used reacting to the heat. They leak all the time.
Gave them one new gasket and one old !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still not done right till you get them a new gasket for the draft inducer motor !!! Will be waiting for part 3 !!!!!!!!!!!!
The supply house clearly sold it out of that kit and you are perfectly ok using silicone, it will at least not break down in a few years like the OEM gasket always does Their gasket material is a joke to begin with. There are jobs i don't even use their gaskets because they are so terrible to begin with. Some furances I have to replace that gasket every three years.

No better people to get feedback on this then the people that service them. 😃BTW, my daughters Goodman is currently leaking, and looks like the same issue as captured here. It's the same age as the one here as well....7 yrs. old.

The gasket should be applied to the secondary not the collector box, no?

Happy thanksgiving 🍁
Same to you!
Thanks for uploading this video. My question: old collector box was in good shape, so just replacing gasket will not fix the water leaking issue ?

@@zack9912000 thanks will do it soon
thanks for the follow up!
Hello, Can you also share the link to purchase the Goodman CAPF4860C6DB Collector Box, please; I have the same problem leaking Goodman Collector Box ?
The usual line is "I was yelling at my screen, you forgot the gasket" Lol...
Harbor Freight has a cool magnetic light by Braun usb rechargable 390 lumens...I use one....I think you'll find it useful
I was sitting there in part 1 thinking "that silicone is gonna suck to remove"... guess I was right lol

The collector boxes always come with both gaskets on two different punch out sheets, it looks like his supply house took it out and sold it

Is RTV the caulk he was using? @jason shepherd
I told you were missing the gasket but you weren't listening
The old gasket wasn't missing it degrades badly and turns into almost a powder. If you are talking about the new gasket he installed it on the new condensate pan and the new ventor motor gasket was already installed on the pan
Is there a condensate drain on the bottom of the collector box?
In mine Goodman, two hose pipes but there is manufacturing issue in drainage. A two centimeter tilting of entire furnace with pad towards hose will solve the drainage issue. I did it in my furnace.
Awesome work...
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
collector box on thanksgiving that’s wild hope didn’t have to many calls today
I would have waited, it was working and could have waited till after the holiday
Ok
try a hair dryer or heat gun for removing the silicone or gasket. Like taking off that sticker on your car
Do not use this video for an example he didn’t even put a gasket on the ID motor
A lighter gets that glue off
Used a heat gun and it peels right off
good 800.00 dollar fix here...
Those gaskets can be a real ass ache to get off.
10: 16 / I always try to read the instructions first before I do anything, but that's just me,,,
The gasket and the collector plate did not come with instructions
YIKES!
That has been a issue for decades from them, cheap plastic and junk gasket. How cheap 20 bucks in replacment pants cheap, pan and gasket. Goodmans are garbage for a reason
What happened to the original collector box? Was it warped or cracked?
The gasket 99% of the time gets so compressed and crumbles away because they use cheap materials. The condensate boxes can crack because of cheap plastic used reacting to the heat. They leak all the time.
Just wasn't going your way have a piece of pie and a coffee call it the day have a good evening
