I love this effect. It sometimes works OK on street lighting too. You can make a hole-grid by crossing your fingers.

I think it's great how your teaching the kids different things in your way and simple to them so they understand it.. the welding mask was a great idea but sux for the camera view...

jest that was the story of Camera Obscura , the beginning of photography :) observing the images of the sun though leaves, and woven baskets. Apparently ancient astronomers used to map the sky using this technique - having one hole in a closed room , and quickly drawing on a sheet on the wall. That was long before people discovered optics with lenses and different shapes of them etc
