The best way for you to learn on jumping is to watch volleyball players. They have the best running approach and jump form. I improved mine doing what they did.
Hey this is great review for the jump technique, u even explained some parts where I actually didn't even know about. Like why we turn our body to create that wine up, (finally understanding what ppl meant by breaking force) and power positions of 90 or lower (which I never knew at all) so thx u 👏 glad to have found this yt channel (only a couple years back saw your vids rarely here and there, but I finally found your channel)
Paul, found boxing can actually increase fast twitch and increase endurance. Been doing rounds of 2 minutes on the heavy bag and everything is powerful and I’m totally dead after. I think this is something u can incorporate year round especially when ur not focused on conditioning.
I used to go out and jump every time i went to hoop just to attempt to get to the point of dunking. But after many knee injuries, i am just not confident in doing it anymore.
I’m a right hander but i have a left-right approach (usually if you’re a right hander, i’d assume your correct approach should be right-left? Which puts you right hand behind your body allowing you to use both your body and your left hand to guard the ball) but the thing is i can’t do a left right approach. This isn’t much of a problem, for me, when it comes to basketball but i want to play volleyball and in order to play volleyball, i need a right left approach. Anyone has any tips for me?
@@danielcarmichael7002 yeah I know, but there are exercises that target it much more than others and some say that they are very important. Like leg extensions. But something like the squat doesn't involve much vmo activation at all.
@@rometlempu4839 I would say you can. Obviously different exercises with different angles will target different muscles But you also have voluntary control So try concentrating on the vastus lateralis while squatting Lmk if you feel anything dofferent
Long penultimate is not necessary. There are many clips of baby penultimate, as long as the player prepares by 1- applying braking force/turning 2- bending forward to pop the chest up 3- arms back to swing up If they have these three on the penultimate, they don’t need a long jump penultimate
How come people that do right to left penultimate(for example ja Morant and Westbrook)do a circular motion with there left arm during the arm swing, I tried it and it felt hella uncomfortable.
The most important think is that it should be all natural, you should not have to think about anything. Just practice it and your technique will automatically become good
what’s an estimate for my genetic vertical potential? just turned 17 and have a 34” vert. only been playing basketball for a year and been working on vert (plyometrics) for 1 month. keep in mind i didnt grow up playing any sports.
When your approaching from the right do you plant your left and when your approaching from the left do yo plant your right, because I’m right footed and it feels natural to plant my left foot approaching on both sides. Am I doing it wrong?

Stand still and jump with one foot, then jump with two feet. Which is higher? For professional two Is easier most of the time because they don’t need the speed. One works great as well.
Please do the same for 1 foot jumping

Try a practice it over and over again for like a few weeks to months see if it feels better

Pfj, is training the vmo muscle important for injury prevention or just for athletes in general?
you can't train the vmo portion of the lateralis specifically. the innervation of that muscle contracts the whole thing

90 degree angle isn’t optimal for jumping. I know many jumpers myself included that don’t go all the way to 90 degrees and do better that way
If you're a left person, use your left leg. If you're a right person, then use your right leg. Trust me it works
Doesn’t work for me left feels more natural and comfortable for me and I’m right handed
