I'd suggest pulling the head off. It just takes a couple bolts being a Flathead and it'll give you a lot better idea of what shape the motor is in. Also someone has squared off the back of that willys. The tub would have been rounded originally. Can't wait to see the progress.
Buddy my son has a Willis Jeep truck about the same year as yours he hasn’t touched it since he brought it home on a trailer over a year ago. He got it in a trade so no money in it so no hurry. Great video I love your style. You are a doppelgänger to my best friend same since of humor and speach I really enjoy your videos
Hey! It's got a one wire alternator! Replace the motor, that one's shot. Plan on lots of cash. Way more than it's worth but great project. Do the mini bike build first, lot cheaper and your young'uns can enjoy it while they are still young. The piece that was in the radiator was the water temp sensor. Back in the day if you needed a shade tree way of using one of those you would slip it in the radiator hose and slide the hose back on. Once the hose was on you would tighten the clamp up around the thin part just underneath. That one probably broke off and stayed in the system.
I don't know why I didn't think about it earlier but I am almost sure I have one of those engines in my storage building at work . I will look Monday and see and give you a call . I don't think its locked up either .
Nice, I have been looking for a cheap CJ2 to add to my stable, finally got my rescued w200 1970 Dodge going down the road. I subbed cuz we are into the same things..
Square nuts are often used in Course threads. NC threads. The round heads have squares under and lock into square holes or wood. USE the Blower to clear out the plug holes. Fill the plug holes with top oil and it might start working to free pistons.
So I see you have a project Willy's 1953 ? when that thing was new I bet it was a beast in the dirt! I bought my son a 64 C-10 Chevy truck half ton it runs but needs a frame off restoration to be a super nice truck, good luck and don't bust any knuckles on it.
I had one similar to it. It was street legal and I used to drive it to work when I owned the garage. I finally sold it to guy who wanted it way more than I could say no too!
Yayyy...another Willy's project. Odd that you pressure washed the engine with the plug holes wide open. Suggest power washing the whole thing, inside & out, front to back, top & bottom...THEN assess the situation and establish priorities....probably engine worthiness first. It would be great to get that original running sweetly again, but might take a pro mechanic...sorry, nothing personal. IF that's a go, get it removed to be worked on. That clears the way to clean out/repair that engine compartment. That water running into it will be a problem, but that's a body issue. Thanks for bringing on another project. How come you didn't have the Willys truck towing the Jeep? You didn't sell it, did you?
Talk to Stoney Ridge Farmer. He has a willies Jeep restoration going on slowly at his channel. I think he may have been sponsored by a company that has all the parts for those.
Man i love the patina bondo and all I wish youd keep it. But it definately needs a tailgate. The block is probably cracked in a million places they all are. But who knows it might run enough
Have u ever tried pb blaster in the spark plug holes I had a ford bronco that was locked up from setting for 10 years and I soaked every plug hole with pb blaster and let it sit for 2 days and it broke free. With rocking it back and fourth in first gear
Should’ve kept and finished the Willy truck with a nice oak flatbed instead of the hydraulic lift bed. This new old one is roach. IMO not worth the massive amount of time and money required to get this finished even to a basic running level. But good luck and look forward to future episodes working on this.
Flying Insects (with Stingers) that fly away... You are "Good to Go". For parts and Tech... Scott Schiller, Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts, Walcks 4-Wheel Drive, G-503.
Alabama man get a gallon jug of Aurekroil & dump that stuff down the spark plug holes & let sit for a week or two & ill guarantee you that it will free up that Motor Aerokroil is amazing stuff I’ll guarantee you that you will throw the PB blaster in the trash!!!!
I"m officially old in years, so forgive me for my rant,EA.. I'll apologize in advance. I apologize. I know you did what you felt was right. I'd loathe to tell you what to do...But. You were so close! Who in their right mind would want to ride in a open cab vehicle? It's dusty on dirt roads and you could end up with a bug between your two front teeth. The truck. The engine ran. The difficulty in holding a charge was probably a need to clean every electrical ground. Bolt the dump bed to the frame, or remove it entirely. A stake bed made with local lumber. All the winch driveline needed was a trip to a machine shop for straightening. Bucket seats bought at the salvage yard on 50% off days. Bolted in with unistrut. The windows rolled up! It's a snowy Christmas eve in Alabama, and the EA clan is toodling through town with brightly wrapped presents stacked in the bed of.... Redford Fore.... Nah. Bad choice It' like reading Pygmalion and getting half way through it and never being able to find out what happens.Sob. I hope it got a good home. Maybe you sold it to the Bearded One? This rant is truly half in jest. Sorry. P.S. you can run me off. I'd understand.
Why would you pressure wash the motor with no plugs if you intend to get it broken loose? Pull the motor and replace or have it rebuilt. Have a mechanic buddy come help.
Spraying in the cylinder with a 1 degree tip might actually help. He said it was already full of water, so what's the difference? Breaking something that is broke? LOL
Vacuum all the water out of spark plug holes if you can I would fill it up to the top with p b blaster Marvel's mystery works good but the PV plaster helps to break the rust down in the cylinder try rocking the crank back and forth PB Blaster takes maybe 2 or 3 days for it to break down rust good luck Don't Force It work it slow if you force it you will break a ring and you won't have a chance of starting it
I have a 47/49 Jeep tailgate if still needing. Message me. I just did a Overland with a seized Go Devil 4 cyl... I swear in transmission fluid and sit for 2 months in the Arizona sun.... lol
bonjour , j'ai cru rever , a vous voir nettoyer le moteur sans les bougies sur la culasse !!! (et a enlever les bout de bois en les faisant bruler !!?? vraiment ? eric from France
Look man if it had no plugs and water was dripping in the spark plug wholes down in the engine , your looking at a totally rebuild, if you wanna learn about motor rebuild then you got a winner winner chicken dinner my friend!!!
Wanna see something very strange? Watch this, it's clean. Tell him EA sent you: ruclips.net/video/6u-g6chu2iA/видео.html
You could do that kind of thing if you have a cool hat
This is going to be a great project. Thanks for sharing it all with us. Wait, I am to the part where you set it on fire......

It would be awesome if you get that motor running. That is the original "go devil" motor. They were really reliable and were tougher than nails.
Its really cool. Best part is there is no hurry to get it done. Just a good hobby

That's a real beauty. You could pull it around the field with your Jeep dump truck.
I DON'T WANT YOU TO SELL THE OTHER WILLYS!! .......I WANNA SEE YOU FINISH AND DRIVE IT!!
An coriginal chromed stamped Willys front bumper too.
Delete if not appropiate. I like your work.
In other words, you haven’t started restoring it at all. Beautiful piece of America sitting t,here.
Remove the Lifter Cover (under the Intake/Exhaust Manifold), to see how rusty the Lifters are.
Have u ever tried pb blaster in the spark plug holes I had a ford bronco that was locked up from setting for 10 years and I soaked every plug hole with pb blaster and let it sit for 2 days and it broke free. With rocking it back and fourth in first gear

What happened to the other Jeep?
I was wondering the same thing
Sold it
He burned it with our hopes and dreams.
U could try to sandblast the jeep that would take the paint off an most of the rust.
with you at the helm, it will run again.
Worth a quick check for starter motor bendix jammed in ring gear ...?
What happened to the dump truck?
I was wondering that too
Good day! Can you tell me what kind of bugs are those?
Another 'get it running again' serious efforts. The Willey's is worth it and look at the fun you'll have.
I like Jeeps. Hope you video more of the rebuild.
I have to ask... are wasps y'alls state bird or what? Here in SC, our state bird is the mosquito.
My old man has my great grandfathers 1943 Jeep . Old girl runs like a top
Show must go on..
And THAT is how you work the kinks out of an old army JP!

Use Roxor parts to fix?
You should check out Stan Fuller on youtube. He drives a '48 called Granpa's Jeep. Goes anywhere.
Now that's a burn out !
The wood and upright pieces are INCORRECT for the front bumper.
this thing is far from correct/incorrect game.
The goal is run, not breakfast restaurant chit chat and matching numbers
Exploring Alabama I hear ya there! Have fun with it!!
What ever happened to the red beast, did it ever run
Hi EA - Where is the other one?
He sold it

Water can and will dissolve a battleship.
